I've been fortunate enough to have some amazing experiences in my life so far. I've trekked to one of the highest base camps in the Himalayas, meditated with Tibetan monks in the Dalai Lama's monastery, earned my US Army Infantry patch, walked 550 miles across Spain, lived in Paris, been the only non-black, non-woman member of the Black Women's writers' group, written a novel, held the hands of dying patients, and worked with some of the best people in Silicon Valley.

But the most transformative experience has been the simple act of loving myself.

Try this: when you do the mental loop, make yourself feel the love for yourself. Even for a few seconds. We manufacture our emotions. The more you do it, the more you'll experience that you're in control of your emotions.

Short answer: like any new behavior, it takes committed practice and time. Yes, please continue to do it. And add feeling and emotion to it. That will deepen the grooves faster than anything.

I hope that helps.

The mind gets stuck in a particular place, but doesn't mean all of writing is off the table.

So, if I'm stuck at a chapter, I just work on a different one. This way, I'm always working on something.

Once I discovered this solution, it removed the concept of writer's block from me.(less)

The Cover

I was at Harper’s offices for meetings and randomly walked by the art department and saw this laid out.  It’s the cover, the real thing that they wrap around the book.  It was the only one in the whole space.

The man working on it saw at me admiring it, then said, “hey, that’s you.”

I nodded.  “Can I touch it?”

“Of course.”

The red letters of the title, they’re raised.  The feel of the pa

“I promise you that the same stuff galaxies are made of, you are. The same energy that swings planets around stars makes electrons dance in your heart. It is in you, outside you, you are it. It is beautiful. Trust in this. And you your life will be grand.”
Kamal Ravikant, Live Your Truth

“The things I carry are my thoughts. That's it. They are the only weight. My thoughts determine whether I am free and light or burdened.”
Kamal Ravikant, Live Your Truth

“This day, I vow to myself to love myself, to treat myself as someone I love truly and deeply - in my thoughts, my actions, the choices I make, the experiences I have, each moment I am conscious, I make the decision I LOVE MYSELF.”
Kamal Ravikant, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"
