Hannah, sorry it's taken so long to answer. I've been on crazy, crazy deadlines.
You know, I do get inspiration from real life. I think I wrote in the back of the book that a group of children was the inspiration for the sisterly circle following that shoe fight. BTW: I loved writing that shoe scene. Men in the Old West thought women were the weaker sex, but they were wrong. I usually go back to the beginning and see I might have made a wrong turn. Oddly enough, I also discovered that if a block hits around page 50 it's oftentimes because the protagonist name is wrong. Isn't that strange? But that's when you know your character. I recently realized (on page 53), that my tomboy character had outgrown her feminine name. I changed it and the writing took off again. “Beauty puts a face on God. When we gaze at nature, at a loved one, at a work of art, our soul immediately recognizes it and is drawn to the face of God.”
Margaret Brownley

“God gave me this enormous talent, but He forgot to give me the courage to use it." ... "I don't think God forgot," Justin said. "I think He simply gave you a challenge that you haven't yet conquered.”
Margaret Brownley, A Lady Like Sarah

“If you ask me the man's short a hat size or two but he's harmless. Not like the Texas Kid or the Tuscon Kid. Drat, he's not even like Billy the Kid. Now those are outlaws."
His assurances did little to calm her nerves. Apparently the only bandits he took seriously were the ones belonging to a society of human goats.”

Margaret Brownley Hi Nike,
I'm not very good about keeping this up. The reason is I know so many authors and I feel uncomfortable commenting on their books in public--unless of course, I absolutely love them.
