Heat of the Moment

Rate this book
Cameron O’Leary, a 4th generation firefighter turned arson investigator, thinks he’s the luckiest man in the world—after a year of sickness in the family, everyone’s finally on the mend, and his life can go back to its even keel. But even though Cameron has moved to Boston to be there for his family, some sort of live-in nurse is still necessary, given the demands of his job.

Erin Crosby is financing her master’s thesis in social work by acting as a home health care nurse. Working for Cameron seems like the perfect gig—low key, plenty of time to work on her thesis, and the patient is lovely. She might never have lived with a man before—she’s never found anyone she cared about that much, had barely even considered it—but Cameron is easy to live with, and an easy friendship blooms between them.

But it gets harder and harder for Cameron to keep his hands off of his charming employee—and for Erin to remember that she hasn’t really moved into Cameron’s life.

Cam is a single dad to a little girl who is recovering from a brain tumor. With his daughter being released from the hospital, he needs to hire a nurse to stay with her at home. Cam hires Erin as the live-in nurse for her daughter. For being a short novella, I really feel like I got a complete story. I think sometimes with a novella, it can feel a little rushed but I really enjoyed this one! I loved Cam and Erin. This was a very sweet book that had some really hot scenes. I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more by this author.

My Review:

This is a novella, but it's a story that isn't short on emotional punch. I really liked this one and it appears to be setting up a great new series. And this book is interesting just because it's a modern twist on the old governess/nanny trope that used to be so popular in historical novels.

Cam's daughter just came home after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. She's recovering, but still weak and he wants someone with medical experience to watch over her for the next month until her normal nanny can come back to her job. Erin is in between jobs and has the experience Cam and his daughter needs so she hires on. Immediately there is great sexual chemistry between these two that flamed off the page. I love how the author wrote the two of them. Their connection is fast, but it never seemed rushed or too much to me. But it's not just heat. The book is fun. The characters are engaging and witty. I constantly found myself smiling through the scenes in this one.

Overall, I really liked it and can't wait for me. I definitely recommend this one as a fun, hot, sexy read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Erin took a position as a live-in Nurse for a seven-year-old post surgery cancer patient. While working on her Master’s thesis, she expected this job to be low key. Now, what she is what she didn’t expect is for her patient to have a father whom shell have an attraction to and, so it seems, it’s a mutual feeling. Cameron also didn’t expect to have any kind of feelings for Erin as his focus the past two years has just been his daughter. They will avoid and deny all their feelings but in one Heat of the Moment, they will give in to their desires and just like that….their lives will change.

I’ve always enjoyed Ms. Robin’s work. Her stories are always sweet and romantic. Erin and Cam’s story was just that. However, it was too short for my liking. The premise or storyline in itself is good, but the short length took away the time Erin and Cameron could get to know each other and fall in love. Though, I believe in love at first sight; Erin and Cam are older and well, I would’ve like to see more page time for them.

Overall, a cute and heartfelt story. Other than the insta-love, I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are fun, sexy and intriguing. I’m curious if Ms. Kaye have plans to explore the characters in this story, but I see great potential.

Loved this one! When grad student Erin applies for the position of caregiver to a little girl recovering from cancer she never expected to find single dad Cam quite so appealing. And the attraction is definitely both ways. As expected from Robin Kaye the writing is spectacular and the secondary characters are screaming for their own stories. Hopefully that's the plan. The only complaint I had about this book is that I wanted more! This is a good one and you definitely want to read it. I highly recommend it.

An Irish goddess live in nurse, a yummy arson investigator dad, a adorable & darling daughter & a meddling family of males to make their shared dwelling to UNDIES SCORCHING COMBUSTION!

Erin Crosby grew up with just her mom & she always had herself on the college path. She became a nurse, starting working PICU, but all the sick & dying darlings where sucking out her soul, so she returned to get a Master's in Social Work & just needs an easy home health aide job to finish her thesis. When her friend, Kendall, gets her an interview as a care taker for cancer remission little girl, who needs some loving care, help with school work, so she drops her yarn (literally) & runs to the address!

Cameron O'Leary is 4th generation firefighter, had a glove snap, got a baby daughter, her mom ran for the hills & raised his Janie in a house filled with bedroom revolving O'Leary males, but moves to Boston to become an arson investigator, so Janie will never lose him to a fire. When she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, he & Janie fought the long hospital & treatment battle, but finally kicked cancer a$$! Janie is his whole world & the only female in his life, so it's okay that he can't remember the last time her got lucky!

Cam's nanny had to go help her mom, so he needs a live in home health aide for his Janie because she is getting out of the hospital & he is always has crazy 24 hour on call shifts. When a female with mile high legs, dressed in a sweater nightmare & says she is sorry she is late, so he automatically states he isn't the father. Not the best first impression, but Erin needs this perfect job to finish her thesis, so she will just ignore the smoking hot father! He is dazzled by her sunny smile, her knitting craziness & spunkiness, hires her, tells himself that she is FORBIDDEN FRUIT & Erin is so stoked, goes to Kendall to thank her & even gets to do the meet, greet & "let me knit you a hat" to Janie in her hospital room.

Cam gets Janie home, in this ridiculous pink furry hat, with his male clan making ruckus, puts her to bed, all 4 males stare at her sleeping (overprotective much) & soaks in the happiness of his healthy daughter. Erin is packing up her stuff, when Cam calls & asks if she can come tonight because he was called in, she flies over, moves in with some lickable muscles flexing & settles in. So we have a adorable heart stealing Janie, a dad with his hands no where near the FORBIDDEN FRUIT, a sexy leggy nurse, a drunk family member who jacks her bed, animal blobby pancakes, twisted sexy boxers, a gorgeous Goldilocks in his bed, sunshine, color, warmth & love filling his house, some knitting torture devices, an innocent night of watching Tudors (it's educational), a dipping vajayjay, a semi to hard to granite & a male speaking with both his feet in his mouth to torch their shared house into flames! Will Cam remove his feet before it's too late? Can Erin walk away from the 2 O'Learys that she loves? What will happen when the nanny returns? How will little Janie use her sparkly PIXIE DUST to make Erin her only mommy?

I fell in love with Ms. Kaye with her hilarious Domestic Goddess series & this book was like welcoming back a kooky friend! Ms. Kaye doesn't just write a tale, she creates a whole kooky, quirky & one of a kind world filled with naughtiness, adorable characters & always seems to have some kind of Fairy Godfolk or Fairy Godanimal in her tales. Erin was a GOOD GIRL with her head always in a book, but she had no male in her life from the start. Cam was a yummy firefighter, but I loved that he put his daughter first & took a safer job because a lot many dads wouldn't. This one has little Janie with a pack of overprotective males, who had every single big strong males wrapped around her little finger, but dating will be a living HADES for her! So PRETTY PLEASE Ms. Kaye write Janie story 1 day & get some payback from the whole revolving bedroom door O'Leary males! Now Ms. Kaye does weave great UNDIES SCORCHING scenes, but she was limited with little Janie underfoot & a night of Tudors to strip away their inhibitions & clothes & wrote a insane kiss for Cam that made me curl my toes, drunk butterflies roam my tummy, pray for more & SCREAM to my Kindle, "Cam, I am so NEXT!" This story was a quickie read, but Ms. Kaye stuffed it full with hilariousness, a special little girl who knitted herself a better family, some PANTIE MELTING moments, a couple that just clicked & wrapped it all in SPARKLY PIXIE DUST bow! Ms. Kaye gets my score of 4 fingers up & 8 toes for this romance that brightened my book COSMO with some much missed Robin KayeNESS & Ms. Kaye thanks for the teasing tidbit of Kendall's tale!

Heat of the Moment was an enjoyable novella with a great cast of characters and a low-drama storyline. Admittedly there were elements that seemed a little rushed, but it doesn't detract from a couple who had great chemistry and created moments which were romantic, heartwarming, funny and sexy.

When Arson Investigator and single Dad Cameron O'Leary needs to hire a live-in nurse to help with his seven year old daughter's recuperation, Registered Nurse Erin Crosby lands on his doorstep. She fits into their lives perfectly and it's not long before an attraction blossoms on both sides. Yet both know that Erin's employment is short-term.

With an instant, natural chemistry, Cam and Erin were great together and their interactions with Janie were lovely. It didn't hold any particular surprises, but time flew whilst I read and I polished it off in one sitting. Robin Kaye is a new author to me and this was a good opener to the series;I'll definitely be reading any further additions. If you have an hour and fancy an easy-read romance with some added heat, this is ideal.

Heat of the Moment was a spicy little number. I really enjoyed the story and the O’Leary clan. The book is only around 100 pages long, so the story moves fast and so do the characters. Usually I don’t like the instant love kind of thing, but this was just too sweet not too.

Cameron O’Leary is a yummy ex-firefighter turned arson investigator with a young daughter who is recovering from a brain tumor. Cam hires Erin Crosby to be his daughter’s nanny and also help take care of her health. Erin is working on her thesis in social work and takes the job as an in care health nurse to help pay for school. Erin and Cam are very attracted to each from the first meeting, Cam’s not sure if it’s a good idea to hire Erin when he is so attracted to her but he hires her anyway. Erin is instantly taken into the O’Leary family. Everyone loves her with her bubbly and sweet personality. Erin and Cam try to fight their attraction for each other, but that fight doesn’t last too long.

4 out of 5
The synopsis had me intrigued but I was worried that the shorter length would leave me wanting once I read the book. Boy, was I wrong! Robin Kaye gave me a complete story in Heat of the Moment and I enjoyed every bit of it. This was contemporary romance at its finest. Nothing too angsty or over the top and the characters were realistic and likable. Cam and Erin had immense chemistry and little Janie was adorable. I was able to root for every single one of them and I got the warm and fuzzies that I hope for when I read. Heat of the Moment was so good and kept me entertained enough that I will be looking into other works from Ms. Kaye. This kind of contemporary romance is the perfect distraction when I need a break from real life or the dirty and angsty that I typically lean toward in my reading selections.

Erin she was just so damn cute and I just wanted to cuddle with her, "it's the first sweater I ever made. I know it's not perfect, but it's warm and comfortable, and my knitting has greatly improved since I learned that if you knit both sleeves at the same time, there's a much better chance they'll end up the same length." She's also innocent but not innocent, "Erin reached down and pulled the sheet up over her. "Done what, exactly? I find it hard to believe you've never had sex before. After all, you have a seven-year-old daughter." She's also one to surprise you:
"Where are you panties?"
"In my drawer. I forgot to pack my thong. And after the last round of interviews, I didn't want to look unprofessional and I didn't want panty lines."
I enjoyed Erin this is one of the few times I'm more into the female character than the male character.

RN turned home care provider Erin is at his door to help proivde care for his young daughter while she recovers from being in the hospital.

Cam is an arson investigator. Janie's mom walked out when she was a baby, he was a fire fighter, and his little girl had a brain tumor. Now he's just ready to live life with his daughter.

What he doesn't expect to find is Erin. From hot glances to coming home and finding Erin in his bed. Its a fun story filled with hot, sweet, and some sad moments. I really enjoyed reading this.

This is a very entertaining short story that starts a new series. I have read several of Ms. Kaye’s books and I have enjoyed each one, she writes about New England heroes and heroines with strong family ties.

Cameron O’Leary is from a long line of fire fighters; his family is close and has been helping him raise his four year old daughter since she was born. But when he learned Janie had a brain tumor, he found a safer job as an arson investigator and moved a few miles away. Janie is now clear of any medical problems associated with the tumor but is still gaining strength before she heads back to school.

Erin Crosby is a RN currently writing her master thesis, her good friend Kendall has a perfect job for her and places her as a live in nurse with Cameron and Janie. Erin quickly settles in and becomes great friends with Janie and a little more than friends with Cameron.

Heat of the Moment is a novella starting off a series that looks very promising with strong heroes and heroines.

I like Erin, she is cute and funny with just the right amount of spunk, she just needs something temporary that will also let her finish her master’s thesis. When Kendall suggests being a nurse to a young girl who has been sick, she jumps at the chance, but is a little overwhelmed when she meets her sexy employer. The attraction is immediate for both of them and although they try to avoid the inevitable, they soon find that they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Cameron definitely fits the stereotype for sexy firefighter and Erin has the heart palpitations to prove it when they first meet. He had to grow up fast and has suffered through some tough years recently as he willing took over the care of his infant daughter when she was born. Erin and Cameron have chemistry to burn, they dance around each other for a few days but then give in, there are some bumps along the way with miscommunication and what they each had planned for their future, but as with most shorter stories, the conflicts are settled quickly.

There are several secondary characters that help move the story along, Cameron’s family is entertaining and I could see where they could be overwhelming but well meaning. I adored Janie; she is cute and very fun as she is ready to rejoin life again. I also like Erin’s friend Kendall who will be featured in the next book. The pace is fast but works well and the romance does not seem too quick as it blends well with the growing relationships between family and friends. All in all a great start to a series.

In summary:
Cameron O'Leary left his dad, two brothers and job as a firefighter behind to take a job as an arson investigator and create a safer, more stable environment for his seven-year old daughter, Janie, who was diagnosed two years ago with having a brain tumor. With the nanny on vacation and his daughter given the all-clear to come home, Cam agrees he needs a live-in nurse. When a bombshell pin-up model worthy woman shows up at his door dismayed over being "late", he immediately believes she's got the wrong house, because he knows he'd never forget having slept with a woman that looks like that.
Erin Crosby has worked as a pediatric RN for three years before deciding that she wants more out of her career and goes back to school. While working on her Masters thesis, she's called up one afternoon by her best friend, Kendall, with an immediate job offer. She's told that a man needs a home health care worker that can do some light cleaning and cooking as well as caring for his recovering daughter and helping with some school work. She never expected the man to be as young and extraordinarily fit as he was.
The attraction is mutual and instant. But how can they get past the boss / employee guidelines?
-----
Hot Factor: 3
-----
Thoughts:
-More of a novella in length.
It's hard to maintain the professionalism and respect the boundaries of boss/employee when you are mutually attracted to the person living under the same roof, sleeping only a few doors down. Cam and Erin try valiantly, but lose the battle or restraint. They are nice characters with a lot of heart, but I think that is also part of their downfall. They put their hearts out there to be hurt by the smallest of perceived slights. There were not a lot of secondary characters, but the ones there were, were enjoyable. The chemistry, dialogue and interaction between the cast was believable. The plot flowed smoothly. There were a few minor issues of miscommunication, but no major conflict to resolve. The outcome was rather easy to predict, but that did not detract from the overall experience.

Overall Rating: 3.8

Robin Kaye is an author who always manages to write a book that makes me feel good. That’s not to say that sometimes there aren’t situations in her work that are complicated or sad but by the end a serene feeling comes over me and I smile. You would think that a book containing a child recovering from cancer might be heavy but there is so much joy in Heat of the Moment that it truly is a feel good story.
Cameron O’Leary hasn’t had the easiest life; being left by his wife to care for his baby girl and then 7 years later to have her diagnosed with cancer he’s just beginning to breathe again when a beautiful woman appears on his doorstep; one that sets off all kinds of warning bells in his head. Erin Crosby really isn’t sure what to think about the handsome man that needs a nurse for his daughter but it’s a job she can do and one that will allow her to complete her thesis and once she meets the precocious Janie she falls instantly in love.
I had to laugh at Erin’s boldness as she moved into Cameron and Janie’s home and instantly started rearranging things to work better. She just didn’t see anything wrong with doing it and even though I think it kind of freak Cameron out a little bit he just rolled with the punches. It was entertaining to watch the way they worked together despite the simmering attraction between them. When you add in Janie’s absolute love for both her Dad and Erin it made the story even more engaging. They weren’t without their problems mainly due to Cameron’s past relationship issues and Janie’s limited experience but thankfully they had Cameron’s family and Erin’s friend to help set them on the right path.
I don’t seek out romance books with children in them but from time to time an author I adore will write one and I’ll read it. I’m so happy I read Heat of the Moment because it is a truly wonderful story with characters you can’t help but adore, including one very perceptive 8 year old, and a love story between two people who weren’t looking for love but found it anyway.

Welcoming Erin Crosby into his home is proving tougher than Cam O'Leary expected. Because, from the minute that she first showed up at his door to take care of his daughter, Janie, Cam hasn't stopped thinking about Erin, and all the different ways that he'd like to get to know her. Unfortunately for him, none of them fit into the roles of employer and employee.

Erin hasn't had a lot of success with men, always finding ways to make short work of relationships, because, in her experience, men never stick around anyway. Focusing on taking care of Janie is turning out to be a tricker task than she'd anticipated, because she wasn't counting on Janie's oh-so-sexy dad, Cam. Keeping things strictly professional just got a lot harder.

HEAT OF THE MOMENT is a sexy little novella, and enjoyable, too. The awareness between Erin and Cam fairly jumps off the page, as they navigate their growing desire for each other while doing their best to avoid it. Janie's health is pretty much all that Cam has focused on for the past couple of years, so when Erin shows up and begins making him feel things that he hasn't in a very long while, he's adamant that they will keep things professional. Of course, the best laid plans, and all that...

This book gets a thumbs-up from me. The attraction between Cam and Erin is immediate, and sets the tone for the entire read. The addition of a quirky and entertaining cast of supporting characters makes the story seem more real, like this could be our own family, friends, self, we're reading about. Robin Kaye has written an entertaining and steamy story filled with imminently likeable people, and I enjoyed every minute of it. If things happened fairly quickly, well, hey, wouldn't it be nice if real life worked that way? I look forward to reading more by Robin, and would love to see a story featuring Cam's brothers, Adam and Butch.

Heat of the Moment by Robin Kaye
Grade: B-

“Kids are supposed to like the nanny, sure, respect her, of course, but not love her. Not the way janie loves you.”

Cameron O’Leary never expected at nineteen to become a single father but with the help of his father and brothers he gave his little girl janie the best life he could. When Janie was diagnosed with cancer two years earlier, Cameron changed his job from firefighter to fire inspector, moved to a better town and hired a nurse/nanny to help keep Janie caught up in school. In need of a new home nurse/nanny for a few weeks, Cameron is set on Erin Crosby who is perfect for the job and perfect for him. Erin changes everything and soon Cameron is struggling to keep his hands and his heart to himself.

I am a big fan of Robin Kaye and since this book has a firefighter for a main character I just had to read it. This is a very cute book that goes by way too fast and I really wish that it would have been full length instead of a novella. Erin is a nurse working on her thesis who takes small home nursing jobs so she can finish school. Erin is perfect for Cameron and Janie and it was fun to watch all three of them fall in love and become a family.

I loved the family dynamic between Cameron, his brothers and father and they helped provide some good laughs and keep things light. I wish that we could have learned more about Cameron’s brothers and Erin’s best friend (who I think will get her own book next year). I would have also wanted to learn more about Janie’s mother leaving and what it was like for Cameron to raise her as a single dad.

I liked this book a lot but I was left wanting much. much more. I do hope that this book becomes a series so we get to spend more time with the characters. This is a very short, cute, fast read that went by much too quickly.

Heat of the Moment is a very heartfelt, sexy read. Cameron is a self-sufficient single dad. In walks Erin to care for his, now in remission, daughter. Before he knows it she's testing every patience he has, and evoking feelings he thought he had buried long ago. While Erin become far too attached to this man and his daughter. So attached that before she knows what's hit her she's fallen for both of them.

I'm really hoping this is just the tipping point of this series. In the short story, we meet a very wide array of characters that just scream to have their stories told. From Cameron's brothers, to Erin's friend, I'm really going to enjoy getting to know this cast of eccentrics even more. As for Erin and Cameron, there story was terrific. A perfect blend of reality and happily ever after. Ms. Kaye can sure pack a punch in a few pages.

Along with the steamy moments, there's anticipation from both Cameron and Erin. A fast relationship is not in either of their's character, yet when you've become a pseudo-family without even trying, how can either walk away? Albeit, this is not all sunshine and roses. there were a handful of moments where I got choked up. First at the beginning, because, good lord don't give a bright child like Janie a fight like that. It got to me. But it's a true gift. Robin Kaye had me sympathizing and caring for these characters before I even knew them. And once I did and Eric and Cameron went through their trials and tribulations, the feelings became even stronger. All in all, Heat of the Moment is quick, yet meaningful and sexy read that I would definitely suggest!

Happy Reading!

"Heat of the Moment" is written by Robin Kaye, and it can be read as a stand-alone novella. It is part of a new series. (I'm not sure what the name of that series is however.) This novella features Cameron O’Leary and Erin Crosby.

Cameron's daughter, Janie, is back from the hospital, and Cameron needs someone to watch over his daughter. He's always on call working as an arson investigator. Erin, who is working on her master's thesis and is a home health care nurse agrees to fill in for the next month while Janie's nanny is away for personal matters.

Cameron and Erin are both instantly attracted to each other from the get-go. Cameron finds Erin's homemade knitted sweaters adorable, and his daughter loves the pink knitted cap Erin made her. They try to maintain a professional relationship, but that certainly proves to be difficult when Erin is living at Cameron's home for the duration of that month.

Novellas can be a hit or miss for me due to the fact that it is a shorter story, and a lot of characters or plots might take place in it. But Robin Kaye did a wonderful job with "Heat of the Moment"! In my opinion, the storyline flowed properly. It wasn't rushed. It was beautifully told! I adored Cameron and his daughter, and I enjoyed seeing Erin's interaction with the both of them. What made even it more fun was seeing Cameron's siblings throughout the novella! Hopefully, Robin will write stories on them! I've always enjoyed Robin's work, and this novella was no different. I'm looking forward to reading Kendall's story next year in "Home to You"!

I must confess that I had fallen out of touch with Robin Kaye's books. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. For this, Robin Kaye, I humbly apologize. I enjoyed this novella so much and it brought me back to when I first started reading her.

Cam O'Leary is an arson investigator who had a very sick little girl. He stepped away from fire fighting into arson investigation so he could have better work hours. This would allow him to be home for her more, since he's also a single father. He does have a nanny to help him out but she was called away on a family emergency. He now needs someone else to help him look after his daughter, Janie.

Erin Crosby needs some extra cash to help her continue getting her master's degree. Helping the very attractive Cam O'Leary shouldn't be a hardship. Erin has a huge heart and it shows throughout this novella. The question is whether these two people who need someone can keep their hands off of each other.

I was hoping this would be a series but I don't think it is. That's okay because I am going to get caught up on her backlist. If you haven't discovered her writing you need to. Her books are very much about falling in love and they make you feel good.

Here’s another first time author for me. Robin Kaye. I liked her writing and narration. Heat Of The Moment is a short, sweet and romantic love story between Cameron O’Leary and Erin Crosby.

Cameron is a fourth generation firefighter, who takes an investigative position to stay close to his daughter who’s just recovering from brain tumor. A wonderful and loving father, he wants only the best for his daughter and is on the look-out for live in nanny to take care of his recovering daughter. Having put all his energies in taking care of his daughter, he does not remember the last time he had made some time for himself.

Erin is a private care nurse, working on a thesis, and loves working with children. Not able to keep herself emotionally unattached to her patients, she quits her job as nurse in a hospital, and does private work when needed. She ends up been the caretaker for Cameron’s daughter and they forge a great bond.
Sparks fly the minute Cameron sees Erin, and the rest they say is history.

Cameron and Erin are young and adorable, yet mature knowing what they want in life. Cameron’s family is big, supportive and lovable. Cameron and Erin fall for each other instantaneously and circumstances bring the love between them to light.

A perfect story for that perfect romance, for a perfect read next to a fireplace!

*I received an ARC of this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Penguin Group/InterMix in exchange for an honest review*

Cameron O’Leary is a 4th generation firefighter and is now an arson investigator that needs a live in nanny for his daughter in order to meet the demands of his job. He has lived a dating, sex free life, and has not even thought about it in two years. Cam’s focus is his job and his daughter, Janie.

Erin Crosby is trying to get her Masters and is acting as a home health care nurse. When her best friend sends her on an immediate interview she gets more than she bargained for. Becoming a live in nanny will be very challenging as her boss is H-O-T and single. Not to mention his daughter is amazing and very smart.

I truly loved this book. A single dad trying to raise his sick daughter and keep up with the demands of his job….WOW! Cameron and Erin have instant chemistry although neither wants to admit it. This is a quick read and the storyline tends to jump where needed, keeping you interested the entire time. I really fell in love with the characters and would definitely recommend this to well…..everyone!

My Favorite Moment: I really loved the interview. I feel like the ice was broken right away so everyone could be comfortable living together. However, it also really made me laugh.

4.5 Stars!!

I really enjoyed Heat of the Moment by Robin Kaye. It is a well written novella and all the characters are well-defined, distinctive, and easy to identify with. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Kaye and it certainly will not be the last.

This is the story about Cameron O’Leary, a good-looking former firefighter turned arson investigator; Erin Crosby, a registered nurse working only temp assignments in order to have the flexibility to complete her MSW; and Janie O’Leary, Cam's spunky, seven year old daughter who is finally in remission. Cameron hires Erin to take care of Janie while he is at work, and not only is she super qualified, she is also super hot. There is an immediate attraction between Cam and Erin and within a week, they spend a night together that evolves their relationship into much more than employer and employee, friends, and above all, temporary. Due to some miscommunication in the bedroom, they stumble, but their love for each other and Janie concurs all.

Overall, this is a heartwarming and sensual romance that should be on your TBR list.

(3.5 STARS)

Cam is an arson investigator who over the last several years has done nothing but devote time to his sick daughter. Cam is a single dad whose daughter is recovering from a brain tumor. Erin is the home health care worker sent to make Janie’s transition from hospital to home more manageable. I liked the writing and both characters were likeable. Now with this being a Novella, I know the story has to be pushed along somewhat quickly to get us to the end but I would’ve loved for this to have been a full length novel. I think the author was more than capable of it because her writing is really good. I understand emotionally how they could’ve ended up where they did and how they could’ve bonded in such a short period of time but on the other hand the ending felt unbelievable. Overall if you like novellas I believe you’d enjoy HOTM. I would be interested about reading the rest of the O’Leary clan and hope that the author would think about expanding the length of those upcoming books.

I have read several books by Robin Kaye but none in the series. Heat of the Moment has all the wonderful aspects of her stories delightful characterization, witty dialogue and sizzling chemistry. Cam’s daughter’s health issues are a more serious issue than I remember in the earlier books I had read. However, Ms. Kaye handled it all without missing a beat. The novella has a complete feel to it with a smooth unrushed pace even though it is shorter than a full-fledged novel.

Does not take long to read and even less to fall in love with Erin, Cam and Janie. Now I cannot wait for Kendall’s story after reading the teaser at the end of Heat of the Moment.

Singkat cerita, Erin bekerja utk Cam.

4 very satisfying stars

Heat of the Moment was a quick and very enjoyable read.
I loved Cam and Erin. Their chemistry was off the charts and they shared some really hot scenes *fans self*

I loved all the characters, I'm hoping we get to see more of the O’Leary brothers in the future =)

Looking forward to Home to You Kendall's story =)

The title of the book is quite accurate as this was a super quick read with quite a lot of heat. Short even for a novella, but it only felt a teensy bit rushed. A sweet—although definitely not PG—contemporary romance, featuring a hero going through a dry spell, and an easily flustered and somewhat inexperienced heroine. Throw in multiple misunderstandings between the H/h, and a simply adorable eight year old, and you have the makings of a very entertaining story.

For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.

This was a fun short contemporary romance story that will pull at your heart strings from page one. why you might ask. because we have a spunky little 7 year old in the middle. I'm a sucker for romances with kids. I find they make everything better! lol The sparks between Erin and Cam jump right off the pages. You're gonna love this novella! Not much else to say unless you want a play by play and for THAT you gotta READ THE BOOK :)
