“Demons don’t love, they destroy.”
“Never trust a demon, Molly. Number one rule.”
"Darkness isn't all one shade, sweetheart."
"The fear of failure made her stomach twist into painful knots, but a voice told her she was focusing on the right thing..."Molly has always known there was something different about her. Friends, loving parents and a thriving internship at an art museum have given her an abundant life. However, thousands of years ago her ancestors signed a contract that would seal the fate of her future forever. After falling under attack at a party, her saviour reveals exactly what that future is going to be.
"Why should I help you?"Tensley Knight is the demon who has been betrothed to Molly. Molly is a demon, and together they will forge a connection that will elevate their powers. Tensley is not at all thrilled to be giving up his current demon lover to marry a demon who has been living as a "human girl" her entire existence. Tensley gains power from sexual connection and the beginning of his time with Molly leaves no room for physical closeness between the two. Molly and Tensley despise each other, and both feel trapped and torn apart. Demons cannot love. If they do, they will grow a heart and risk having it ripped out by their leader Fallen. Tensley is cruel, and Molly is desperate to find a way out. To intensify the terror, other demons have sensed Molly's presence and if Tensley doesn't consummate their relationship soon by "marking her," she will be left open to their attacks. Can Tensley and Molly find their way together before it will be too late or is it a worst fate for them to be together?
"I'd kill for you."
"I need you."Told in dual POV, Vein of Love has a very complex plot and fast paced action. Tensley and Molly are quite intense and the push and pull between the two was nothing short of explosive. I can honestly say that there were numerous times that I wanted to strangle them both throughout the read. I would get so frustrated with the choices they were making and yet, I couldn't tear my eyes away. I am certainly anxious for the next book in the series because I want these two to work their business out! The supporting characters enhanced the read, and I am certainly hopeful for some love to bloom between the besties of the two main characters.
I'm an incubus. A demon.
The daemon intrigued him, enthralled him and he hated that. He had to remind himself that she was the enemy, the alluring siren who could destroy him like the human who'd destroyed his brother.
He's harsh because he wants to protect himself, he's rude because he wants to keep a distance between the two of you
This was not my decision. This was a contract made by our ancestors three hundered years ago.
You came into my life, and you weren't kind. You kept threatening my family. Did you expect me to just fall all over you? To be excited? Happy to marry a demon...I wanted out of this. What was I supposed to do? - Molly -
You think I wanted this? Wanted to spend my time with a spoiled, naive little brat? I had a life...It's my nature to be...cruel...cold hearted. In our culture, displays of affection are indecent...I wasn't raised to be like you...I'm incapable of it...- Tensley -
"You're going to destroy me, sweetheart. Unless I destroy you first."
"There's no hero here, only a villain. Don't expect chivalry from me, because it's dead."
"You're going to destroy me, sweetheart," Tensley muttered. "Unless I destroy you first."
"Will you speak Italian for me? I like how your voice sounds..." she muttered, absent-mindedly stroking her fingers along his hard pec.
"Mm, mi sono infatuata di te." His husky voice soothed her and she curled deeper into his body. His hot breath spanned across her cheebone. "You want more?"
She cooed and nodded her head against his chest.
"Sei bellissima." His calloused hand spread across her cheek and brushed through her hair and gritted it. "Just one more, ciccia, all right?" He kissed her closed eyelids.
"Ho un debole per te."
