ajsahfiad i probably shouldn't have DNF'ed but i've been on such a string of bad books so my patience has gone from sparse to ZILCH. it was basically like every single young adult paranormal romance ever but with some sex thrown in so i guess that makes it new adult. the characters were such cardboard cut-out caricatures, with the edgy asshole demon male character and the main character who has Powers (but not just any powers!! she is the Only One With These Powers) and she's just so... annoying??? and september, the cool-ish best friend, was also just... exactly the same as every other cool-ish sidekick best friend.

anyway i might have finished it if i was feeling more forgiving but i'm not, oops.

also the author sent me a very passive-aggressive DM that said "i hope when you have more patience you will finish the book" which not only ensured i would never try and reread this book, but that i'd never read another book by her ever again. as both an author and reader - authors, don't interact with reviews! even if in good faith, it makes the reader feel awkward as hell and is kinda manipulative, especially when on a negative review. reviews are by readers, for readers. just Don't.
