Kate Lydecker, an FBI agent joins the flight of two marshals and two prisoners and discovers that she witnessed a calculated escape of one of them, in collaboration with the corrupted marshals. 💥✈
The second inmate on the plane, Mason Boone, is a former Navy SEAL who disappeared and lived in isolation for several years after being charged with a murder he did not commit, rescues her from the crashing plane and they find themselves in the middle of nowhere, in wild Alaska... now, they have to fight for their lives from nature. 😱💚

Will they survive? what will happen between them after all the time they spent together? Will she take him in when they are saved ...? 💥💥💥

📚 “𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒔, 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉, 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅.“ 📚

Wow, I'm so bummed to write this, because there was A LOT OF potential here, but I stopped reading at 77%. The idea of the story was so cool, unfortunately, I found myself bored most of the time. 😭

I shit you not, it had about 80% descriptions and internal thoughts and 20% dialogue. (Ahaha! All I wanted to do was to grab them both, shake them and shout: "Stop talking to yourself and talk to each other, GOD DAMMIT!") 😂😂😂

• I listened to the AUDIO version. 🎧 - The woman narrator was OK, but the male narrator sounded like Batman with a cold. 🙈

Alaska Wild is a stand alone romantic suspense by Helena Newbury. This is my very first book by this author. I just finished it a few minutes ago and am in awe! This book has taken over my life for the last two days. I couldn’t even think about anything else until I found out what happened next. It is intense and romantic, non-stop fast paced, mind blowing and amazing! I loved every single thing about the way she told this story. I would say I now want to binge my way through her entire library but I honestly don’t know if I can take this intensity again right away! I might need a break to settle down!

Kate Lydecker is an FBI agent stationed out of New York. She is just over five feet tall and has spent her life trying to prove to everyone that she can do her job regardless of her size. Right now she is trying to find a witness to put a very bad man away. Her search has led her to Alaska and in a desperate rush to catch a ride on a plane. Only it was a ride that would change the entire trajectory of her life, if she survives. It is the ride that led her to Mason.

Mason Boone is a fugitive that has spent the last four years hiding out in the wilds of Alaska in his little remote cabin. But bad luck has once again caught up to him and he’s been captured. Only this time, he’s on a plane headed once again for prison only they are gaining one new last minute passenger. A beautiful woman he can’t take his eyes off of. A woman who with a small kindness, gives him hope.

When their plane crashes, Kate has to rely on Mason for survival. He’s supposed to be a criminal but she feels like she can trust him. And slowly, as his story comes out, she begins to fall for him. Mason has been alone for so long that even carrying on a conversation is difficult at first. But he feels protective of Kate. He’s in awe of her bravery. He’s falling for her as well.

Surviving the wilds of Alaska isn’t the only danger Kate and Mason are faced with. The other prisoner from their plane and those that are helping him are after them. It seems like no matter what Kate and Mason do, they can’t stay ahead of them.

As I said, this was non-stop from the beginning. But it was also sweet and swoony, sexy and so suspenseful. All my favorite “S” words. It was amazing and took my breath away at times. Looking through Helena’s work, I see so many books that I want to read. This was a perfect book, though to introduce myself to her work and I now consider myself a fan.

I can’t take this story seriously because instead of the main focus being on survival right after a plane crash, the H and h just keep thinking about how much they want to bang each other. I get that this is also supposed to be a steamy romance, but a slow burn romance, done right, can be even sexier. I was rolling my eyes at the sex scene. That pretty much said it all…this is not for me.

I was hesitant to read this little gem, I hadn't seen any reviews from anyone I follow and I don't have the best luck picking up random reads. But the fact that this was set in the Alaskan wilderness gave me no choice, I've been obsessed with Alaska since I was a kid and I'm travelling there in just a few weeks.

And holy hell, am I glad I did. I was totally in love with this book from the get go, I loved the characters and the crazy situations they were thrown in. This follows Kate Lydecker, she's an FBI agent who is stubborn to her core and always proving that being small and a female in a male dominant profession won't stop her.

The instant she meets former Navy SEAL Mason Boone, she feels a connection, until she realises that's he a criminal being transported back to the army base to sit trial. But when their plane goes down, Kate has no chance but to trust Mason to help her through the rough Alaskan wilderness that he had stayed hidden in for years.

There is action and romance in this story, all weaved together and I loved it. Mason was maybe my favourite character, he was an interesting character who you slowly learnt more and more about as the story went along. I didn't mind Kate most of the time, but her stubbornness often put her in dangerous situations that she then needed to be rescued from.

I understood why she got herself in some of those situations, having no experience in Alaska, but a few made me roll my eyes. I think a character who was meant to be portrayed as a kickass FBI agent could have managed to scoot across a tree truck with bugs all over it, instead of freaking out and plunging into below freezing water and you guessed it—needing to be rescued.

Because of that, I don't think I can quite rate this five stars despite how much I loved it, so that is the reason this is only a 4.5 star book but still on my favourites list.

I'm not sure how I stumbled across this little gem, but I'm so glad that I did!! What a great romantic suspense. A tough as nails loner hero running from his past (and who has been without...ahem...female companionship for a few years). A female FBI agent trying to do the right thing. A legit evil villain. A plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness. Lots of chasing and running and surviving, encounters with wildlife and wild nature. Wow. I didn't want to stop reading, and it's been awhile since I've been sucked into a book to this extent. Anyone with reading tastes similar to mine would love this. The writing kind of reminds me of Pamela Clare. Great suspense, hot sex. I will definitely be reading more by Helena Newbury.

If you're the type of reader who can suspend all cares of realism for the sake of the romance, you'll probably like this book. If you prefer things to be believable or realistic in any way, this book will drive you crazy. I was firmly in the latter camp. I had high hopes: lots of high ratings, Alaska adventure, romance and a plane crash! It sounded right up my alley.

The entire book can probably be summed up in four sentences: He's so big! I'm so tiny! I love him! I can't love him, he's a fugitive! Repeat, repeat, repeat...

Although the size difference between Boone and Kate is repeated ad nauseam it seemed not to affect them at all. No issues during sex, she even wears some of his clothes (come on, if a guy is well over a foot taller and 100+ pounds heavier, there's no way his pants are going to fit even if they are spandex and the hem is rolled up), so the fact that it was constantly mentioned was really annoying.

I know this is a romance book, so I don't expect the author to shadow FBI agents in order to write the character, but I also don't like it when authors assume their readers are too stupid or don't care enough that things seem at least plausible. Kate is after a key witness so she flies to Alaska ON HER OWN DIME, and she uses HER VACATION DAYS for it too? A witness that is needed to solve a case? And guess what? The witness isn't even there because Kate was too stupid to verify her whereabouts. Add to that Kate gets dumbstruck by Boone's sweet blue eyes and she can't even think straight. And he's in handcuffs! Who looks at a guy being guarded by police and thinks "soul mate!"?

There were so many eye roll moments that took me out of the story. Like when it's mentioned that it's 6 degrees outside so Boone gives Kate his coat, but he'll be fine in his sleeveless shirt. No, he'd be dead shortly. Or when Boone is swimming in frigid Arctic waters and doesn't die of hypothermia. Or when the bad guys are right on their tail, but let's take a few moments to make out first.

Boone's PTSD could have been a good subplot, but for the fact that it seems to get cured by falling in love with a women he's known all of two days. And the too convenient way his military problems are handled in the epilogue. And why didn't he face any charges in Nome where he assaulted two police officers and stole a cop car?

I could keep on ranting, but what's the point? Either these kinds of things will bother you or they won't.

This was very exciting at first. I almost can't put it down because it was filled with action. The characters and the plot were intriguing and it hooked my interest. The author did a great job on visualizing Alaskan wilderness.

But...

After a while, the action became a little bit too far from reality. The conflict kept going in circles and became somewhat repetitive. I almost force myself to drag-read this book because I think it could have been shorter. The main conflict regarding the hero was rush written which makes it kind of disappointing.

This was still a good read though. I liked the visual imagery the author used to describe the vastness of Alaska.

description

FBI agent Kate Lydecker is a New Yorker totally outside her element chasing a lead all the way to Alaska. Mason Boone is a too attractive shackled fugitive sharing a plane transporting them to their opposite justice destinations. That is until another prisoner stages a midair breakout, causing the plane to crash. The scary prisoner turns out to be a former Navy Seal with the skills to help them survive the elements of the Alaskan wilderness.

The cover and title gave an impression this was going to be shifter romance. I was never so happy to be completely wrong. This book is very different in a great way. The heroine Kate is strong, with enough sense to allow the expert to help when needed. Boone is a man of few words, very alpha, but also very considerate. They make a great team, that's very easy to root for.

I loved that all the drama was external conflict, which made this a very low angst read. I recommend this to anyone wanting an adventurous read with two likable leads.

*I received this as an advanced review copy.

I love this book!

I do not know how you feel about it, but I have a great urge to go to Alaska ;-)

I love this book. I love this story and the plot and I love the characters.
I love that it's something I've never read about before.

There is so much action and feeling through the whole book, that you really have no time to get a breath. Action, romance, excitement, adventure and all of this with the very special and unique way of Helena’s writing.

I have to admit, I’m completely addicted, how can I not?
As the self-proclaimed number ONE FAN, I have to say, this book is really totally different (and I’ve read all of them!).

Take an FBI agent, an “Alaska-Man” and a lot of adventure, romantic, action, fear and excitement and we have a sleepless night once again ;-). The combination between crime and romance novel is just perfect. Sometimes you want to cry and laugh at the some point.

As usual, I will not disclose what is going on in this book! You have to discover for yourself, so read this book and enjoy ;-). I definitely enjoyed it very much.

I recommend the book to all the romantics, action, heat, and a HEA fans.

Thank you Helena for that wonderful book and getting me in trouble with the preparation of the Christmas dinner for my Family! ;-) 

Simply put, I loved Alaska Wild . What an exciting read. The story, the characters, the writing, it’s all there. It’s full of non-stop action, suspense and romance that’s off-the-charts hot! I had this feeling of excitement all throughout. All the action, the twists and turns, you don't know what will happen next.

First off, I have to say that I love reading novels that take place in Alaska. Sometimes you get a dud and sometimes you get a winner and Alaska Wild , hands down, is a winner. Helena Newbury (“Newbury”) does a terrific job of captivating you from the very start keeping you engaged right up to the end. She certainly caught my attention. It wasn’t just the story that intrigued me, it was Kate, the heroine. I absolutely loved her. Newbury created an awesome heroine with Kate She’s an FBI agent who does her best to get the job done. She’s also a regular normal, pretty woman who’s also smart, intelligent, courageous and full of strength. She doesn’t whine or bitch or goes back and forth with her feelings for the hero. In fact, she’s one of the strongest heroines I’ve come across in a while. From start to finish I kept rooting for her (and Mason). Mason. Hero. Ahhh….Wow! He’s big, muscular, tall, has good looks and a great ass. While others see him as a big stupid oaf, he’s quite the opposite as he’s smart and intelligent. He suffers from PTSD and hasn’t spoken a word to anyone in three years, that is until Kate. The author shines when it comes to story-telling; you can almost feel the frost on your finger tips it’s so cold on the mountains, the danger and harsh elements they both face, and without a doubt, the heat and passion between Kate and Mason that slowly builds, almost to the point of combustion. Even when they first meet, when he says nothing, you can feel the heat brewing and thankfully, it doesn’t stop. The sexual escapades were so hot even I had to take a moment to catch my breath.

At the end of the day, I say take a chance with Alaska Wild . Without a doubt the author knocked this one out of the park so yes, it most definitely deserves five stars.

I went in blind and I highly recommend you to do the same, so I’m not going to say anything about the plot.

Boone and Kate are awesome characters. Kate is a nice and caring woman. She is a FBI agent who is very dedicated to her job and she works hard. She believes in the justice system and her gut instinct. Kate sees something good in Boone and she trusts him. It’s the first time in a long time that she’s attracted to someone, but something is holding her back from being with him.

Boone stole my heart. He’s tall, muscular, rugged, damaged and very mysterious. Something horrible happened to him in the past and he is still struggling. He slowly opens up to Kate, because he trusts her. He’s attracted to Kate from the start and will do anything to protect her.

Boone and Kate are different, but there is a connection between them from the moment they meet each other. I liked how they met and met again. Boone and Kate like each other. Boone and Kate are a perfect couple. They want to be together forever, but they will have to work for it and make some changes.

When I think about Alaska, I think about the nature and wild animals. I hoped to read about that a little bit with a title likes that and I’m so happy that I got that. I really loved the setting! The author did a great job with describing the setting, just like she does with the feelings of Boone and Kate. I always knew what their feelings were and what they thought. It makes it so easy to understand why they act a certain way.

This book is, without a doubt, my favorite book by this author so far. I loved this book from start to finish. The characters, the setting, the suspense and the romance are amazing! This book could be twice as long and I would not have minded it. The chapter before the epilogue ended a little abrupt maybe, but I did get all my answers in the epilogue. I highly recommend this book!

DNF at 30%-ish.

This book is for you if you don't need a single ounce of realism and enjoy reading about a TSTL heroine who makes you think 25 to life would be totally worth it.

I can suspend my disbelief as well as the next person, but this book was too fucking much.

The amount of times Kate was in danger and walked away unscathed was ridiculous. Look, I love fast paced book with lots of adventure and I like it when my characters are injured or in danger. But these things need to have consequences - if someone gets shot, they can't keep running around as if nothing happened.

Kate survived a plane crash without a scratch, then fell off a cliff, then fell into a river and almost died from hypothermia, then she was almost attacked by a bear, then she was almost attacked by a wolf.... and that was only in the first 30%.

Kate's accidents were only there so that Boone could save her. Again, I love it when the hero saves the heroine but here it got too repetitive since the plot was pretty much:

1- Suddenly, Kate is in danger
2- Boone shouts "Kate, hang on!" or "Don't let go!"
3 - Boone gets her to safety
4 -They lust after each other but refuse to make a move
5 -They walk on
6 1- Suddenly, Kate is in danger

REPEAT.

And she still didn't have a single scratch on her, nor was she more careful.

I really hated her, she somehow managed to be full of herself but also had a major inferiority complex.

We started off with:

Most guys—the ones who even notice me in the first place—find me too hard, all stone and iron when I should be giggly and soft.

I dislike heroines who are constantly described as drop dead gorgeous but the ones that keep whining on about how plain they are are just as bad. Anyway, from that sentence I gather she's self-conscious and doesn't think much of her appearance. Okay. But then we get a shit-ton of these:

(Context: straight after bumping into the hero):
I could see it in his eyes. He wanted me.

(This one is a little long but only because I wanted to give you the entire interaction between the heroine and the guy who's apparently "flirting" with her):
“You’re transporting him?” I asked, trying to make my voice coolly neutral. The young marshal grinned. He swung a huge, dull green army holdall down off his shoulder and dropped it to the floor with a wumf. He had tight curls of sandy-blond hair and looked as if he should be playing bass in a band, not wrangling prisoners. He looked too young. And he was big but the prisoner was huge. I glanced down at my own petite frame. Not like I can talk.
“Boone here won’t give me any trouble,” said the marshal. “Will you, Boone?”
The prisoner—Boone—had finally stopped looking at me and was gazing impassively at the restroom door. It was a relief...and yet, some traitorous little part of me wanted those blue eyes back on me again, no matter what crime he’d committed.
(<- also, WTF?)
“Local cops picked up Boone last night,” said the marshal, talking about the guy as if he wasn’t there. “In a little town called Koyuk. Found out there was a warrant out for him and they knew we were flying another prisoner out of here today, so they drove him over and handed him off to us.” I nodded dumbly.
It was gradually dawning on me that the marshal was trying to flirt with me. I hadn’t picked up on the vibe at first because...well, it’s not something that happens to me a lot. And now that it was, I had no idea what to do. I had no procedure for flirting. And I’m not good with things I don’t have a procedure for.

Again, we get the I'm-so-plain-no-one-wants-me bullshit followed by her thinking some guy definitely wanted her. And the guy wasn't flirting, at ALL.

(Later on)
Boone was gazing towards the front of the plane, eyes unfocused. He must know I’m here. Was he deliberately not looking at me?

For fuck's sake.

Then we had her stupid descriptions chock full of metaphors that went on and on and oooooon:

The accent made me think of the landscape beneath us: rough and hard as granite, but with the syllables smoothed by wind and rain. It had that measured pace you only find a long way from a city.

(This is all one giant scene, no need to read it but it made me laugh because it was so ridiculous):
He was staring back down at me and I just froze because…. Because suddenly, all of that wild that had made me so nervous outside was standing right in front of me, distilled into six feet plus of muscle and stubble. His eyes were the same brutal, frozen blue as the sky outside. Alaskan blue. I’d never thought about what my exact opposite would be like. Now I knew. Huge, where I’m tiny. Rough where I’m smooth. Everything, from his battered boots to his wide, muscled shoulders were built for work: grunting, rock-smashing, tree-chopping work. I stood there in my suit, clutching my laptop bag, and it was as if I was from a different world. He belonged in this place as much as I didn’t. I knew, straightaway, that he was born here. And yet while the landscape outside unnerved me, this man triggered something completely different, an awakening that started at every millimeter of my skin that touched his but rippled in until it hit me soul-deep. There was something about him: animal and raw. Not just wild but Alaska wild. It was new and intoxicating, ripping through me like a hurricane and leaving behind a scalding heat. It was so strong, it was almost frightening. But somehow, touching him felt...right. Like some tiny piece of technology, all brushed aluminum and glossy screen, slotting into a crack in a granite cliff face...and discovering it fits perfectly. I stepped back. “Sorry.” I tried to get myself together but, as soon as I met his eyes again, it was as if every thread of my clothing had been reduced to ash, the particles blasted aside by a scorching wind that seemed to slam me back against the restroom door. I tried to take a breath and found I couldn’t. My chest was tight, my eyes wide. The heat inside me went lava-hot, a crashing, scorching waterfall that slammed straight down to my groin. I’d never in my life felt such want. He wanted me. I looked deliberately away and then back. I tried to reduce him to something ordered, to a description. Six-four. Dark hair. Blue eyes— It didn’t work. The words were boxes into which this man refused to be stuffed. He wasn’t six-four. He was just big, big like the mountains outside were big. His hair wasn’t dark, it wasn’t some color you could pick off a chart. It was as thick and lushly black as an animal’s, and grown long and loose enough to brush his collar. He had a couple of days’ worth of stubble but it wasn’t carefully shaped and precisely trimmed, like the guys back in New York wore it, the artfully rough look. This was just a guy who hadn’t come near a razor in a few days because he’d been out in the wilds. He was gorgeous, those blue eyes eating me up from a face that could have been carved from rock, all hard jaw and strong cheekbones. And he was so big. If he was heading somewhere and I literally threw myself at him to stop him, my small body hitting his in the chest, he’d just walk on unimpeded with me clinging to him. It hit me that he still hadn’t spoken. I took another half step back. But this time, he didn’t let me open up the distance between us. This time, he took a step forward, bringing us even closer. I caught my breath as his broad chest pressed up against me and his blue eyes filled my vision. I could smell icy, fresh water, moss and forests. And beneath it, a scent I knew was him, the smell of warm skin and taut muscle with just a hint of something hard and ready and primal.

I just wanted to scream SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY.

Then we had the gap between what Kate was told to be and what she actually was.

“Kate,” he said, “You are the bravest, smartest woman I’ve ever met.

That braid was her. It summed up everything about her, all her gorgeous femininity pulled back into something practical and efficient, twisted tight and knotted in place.

But then:

I flushed, flustered and confused.

I’d left my handgun back in New York.

She was supposed to be this badass FBI agent but instead she was a fucking useless and incompetent mess who had to be saved constantly, never took charge, decided a guy was innocent of a crime because he said so, wanted to just run at a bad guy who had a gun, constantly freaked out, spent more time lusting after a criminal than doing her job... I could go on. She was just a wimpy moron.

She also didn't recognise some guy, even though he was one of the most wanted people in America (for fraud), she was an FBI agent and he scammed $26,000 from her parents alone. But she never saw a picture of him. He was also transported from Alaska by one low-ranking police officer. So believable.

You know, I think I could have dealt with Kate if she wasn't an FBI agent. That creates certain expectations (like her being competent) and the author struggled with her personality. I think this would have worked better for me if she WAS just a civilian caught up in all the action, because then we could have had character growth and the initial pathetic damsel thing wouldn't be so out of place.

Very disappointed.

This book was incredibly far-fetched and unrealistic but I have to say, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot was fast paced and action packed. There never seemed to be a dull moment. The chemistry between the hero and heroine was off the charts. It made for a great action read with a nice touch of romance and suspense. Plus it was offered as a kindleunlimted. I'll definitely check out more of this writers work in the future.

For my safety gang friends/readers: This was a 100% safe read from beginning to end. Basically a celibate hero and a reserved heroine. No OM or OW drama at all.

Narration 5 stars, both narrators nailed the characters and their voices were a delight to listen to.

This was just a random pick from the audible romance package and it blew my expectations. It was a fast-paced, adrenaline-packed story from start to finish with a suspense storyline.

Boone is literally a wild man who has been living alone in wild Alaska, finally arrested for a military offense. Kate is a FBI agent trailing her own case but finds herself caught up in a complex and dangerous situation. This story is multi-layered, well thought out and compelling.

Mason Boone was swoon central without trying; strong, silent and powerful. Kate made up for her small stature with determination and front.

I highly recommend this to all my friends, especially on audio.

If not for the beginning and the ending of this book it would have been a 5 star read for me, since I very much enjoyed my time reading it. I loved Mason, liked Kate (although I could do without her mentioning how tiny and petite she is every other page) and adored the wild Alaska setting.

I just wasn't a fan at all of the instalust at the beginning. Call me crazy, but if I just barely survived a plane crash in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness I would not be having highly specific erotic fantasies constantly of getting down in the dirt with a criminal I just met. A little more build up would have been way better in my opinion. The ending also got so crazy wild that it just felt rushed. But overall I really liked this book and I'm interested in reading more by the author!

Good romantic suspense. A bit unbelievable in parts but I didn’t mind.

“There was a moment, about an hour in, when I looked from horizon to horizon and realized that I couldn’t see anything man-made, not even a power line, and the feeling was exactly the same as when you try to put your foot down in the swimming pool and discover you’re out of your depth.

FBI agent falls for a prisoner when they survive a plane crash. A strong heroine, a dreamy wounded hero, but unfortunately the villain is one dimensional. Also it’s a little too strong on the physical side of the relationship, especially when their goal is to survive the wilderness.

An enjoyable read if you are looking for a romantic thriller set in the wilds of Alaska.

This one was mindless fun! Also talk about tough luck, the characters here couldn't catch a break. Also one thing that bothered me was the lack of birth-control as in there is no discussion or thought of it. Our hero is tough broody and wounded. Hero is tiny FBI agent who fights to be taken seriously. Corrupt marshals and psychopathic businessman equals plane crash and them going on the run in Alaska. Not too bad but requires huge suspension of belief and had all characters who were over the top and plain villains. Book had threat of rape, incarceration, murder, freezing to death, falling to death and so much more.

It was forgettable. Heroine immediately lusts after a convict and is ashamed of herself for doing so. Hero is of course, innocent.

The thing that had me really liking this book in the beginning was the way Helena Newbury could wrap a high intensity thriller plot around two polar opposite characters and yet build palpable and credible attraction between them. You just knew fugitive Mason Boone and FBI Agent Kate were meant for each other in the middle of a complete disaster of a trip. Unfortunately, the author didn't know when to stop the adventure plot and let her great characters carry the story for awhile. The last third of the book was such a mad dash of ridiculousness that I was rolling my eyes.

The more I read, the more the star score dropped. And that was too bad, because Mason Boone was a well-scripted fugitive with a tragic story. Kate was a dedicated agent, good to her core, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I admired her grit a lot. So did Boone.

The side characters and villains are also interesting. The escape plot for the other prisoner on the flight adds a lot of tension and viciousness to the story.

The downside was the explosion of harrowing circumstances these two had to go through. If Newbury had just stuck to the wilds of Alaska, it would have been just fine. But she would have needed to fix a few plot holes first, like how Boone manages to hunt deer in the wilderness for years without any weapons and timeline relative to the vastness of Alaskan geography. A tighter story is what I wanted, and then this would have been a five star read because I love a contemporary survival story in the wilderness where there are dynamic chase scenes propelled by efficient and deadly bad guys.

3.5 rounded to 4 stars.

I like the narration of this novel and will be looking for more from Scott Thomas; I enjoyed his deep voice.  Emma Wilder was also excellent, and I have already added a few of her other titles to my TBR pile.

Alaska Wild has a lot of 5-star reviews, but for me, it is more like a 2.  It has a heroine that is too stupid to live most of the time, and  I was shaking my head at the supposed hero.  A little bit of a spoiler here, they are being chased by the bad guys and managed to get away, and they know the bad guys have a drone.  But instead of continuing to evade and keep moving they make a fire in a huge clearing, then proceeded to fall asleep so the bad guys can get the jump on them.   What kind of Navy Seal is this man supposed to be?

There were a lot of instances that I was shaking my head going WTF is the author thinking?  I seriously almost DNF after about halfway through, but I kept thinking to myself, this has to get better.  With so many 5 star reviews it just has to.  Nope sadly not.  The beginning sucks you in, and then it just goes downhill from there.  If you don’t mind total unrealistic scenarios and yelling at your characters for their stupidity, then, by all means, give it a whirl.  For me just nope.

I started this book after a really heavy book and I thought oh this will be a little light reading.

Hahaha, it was great and suspenseful. I wasn’t sure about the beginning I thought oh dear this is to the stars a line for me the way this chick is going on about this guy but then I got it.

I loved how Mason just his himself. And how he knows where he is and where he is going but when he meets Kate it all just goes out the window. His is smitten but knows nothing can come of it. I think I loved how he is so quiet.

Kate’s gut instincts are really what drives her to trust even if what her eyes tell her one thing. I think it really was what worked best and that is something I enjoyed. She has GUTS and even when she was afraid she pushed through because that is what you do.

The chase is pretty intense and you will be yelling go go go and oh no no no. I enjoyed this book and I am so glad I took a chance on an author I have never read before.

Loved the narration it was so perfect for this book I have no other words.

Lots of action, very fast-paced but incredibly unrealistic, like way way too ott unbelievable. So much so that it got to be ridiculous. Also, not enough romance for me, and it could definitely use some more steaminess. An epilogue a little further into the future would have been nice, I would love to know that these two could make it work.

I had a lot of hope for this one but... wow.. it had a LOT going on.

I was looking for a book with survival elements and this book did have that but... it also was drown under a lot of other things.

There was also a merry-go-round of "I'm kidnapped, now you're kidnapped" back and forth like 3 times. So frustrating.

so yeah.. didn't work for me.
