It’s been a year since vampires came out to humans. And ever since Crimson Rush became the new known drug, social workers like Nicole Callahan has had their hands full protecting human and vampire children. Nicole lives for her work as a social worker. Having grown up in foster care, she knows just how dangerous it is for the kids if they are placed with the wrong people.
But things are getting very dangerous and when the Vampire Council orders the VC Warriors to assist the social workers, training them in order to handle the dangers they are facing, sparks fly immediately between Nicole and Damon DeMasters. And when Nicole becomes the target, Damon has to use all his skills in keeping her safe.
“This is why I am like I am with these kids. I know their fear. I have felt it, tasted it and lived it for the first part of my life. I will do everything in my power to keep these kids safe and happy.”
Nicole is an amazing heroine. The fierceness with which she protected the kids was amazing. I loved her sassiness and humor. And it broke my heart that she never knew what it felt like to be wanted and loved, until Damon came along.
Damon has been a vampire for a very long time. He doesn’t want a mate, especially not a human one. Damon was your typical gruff and sexy hero. I loved how possessive and protective he was over Nicole right from the first moment he met her.
Ever since she walked in the door he had an overwhelming urge to protect her and that confused the hell out of him
The romance and sexy times were intense and a lot of fun. I loved that both of them were instantly attracted to one another, and even though Damon upset me with his unwillingness to give into what he felt for Nicole, I loved their chemistry.
The world this author created is excellent and very captivating. I loved the other warriors, and I can’t wait to read more about them.
PNR is a favorite genre of mine, and this was an excellent first instalment to a very promising series.
