5 Dark Dark Dark - Stars
Born, Darkly is everything I wanted in a dark read. Born, Darky is witty, addictive, captivating, a must not stop read. I was on the edge of my seat from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. It had the perfect combination of tension, thrill and disturbing romance.
I’m a dark book junkie but I haven’t read any dark books in awhile because the dark books I have tried have been subpar. You know the ones I’m talking about, the ones where the Hero keeps on telling me he’s a “monster”, the Heroine acts like a fool, yadda yadda. I’ve been looking for something, well-written with dark elements and an epic romance novel.
I love finding new authors and I am happy that Kindle Unlimited has lead me to Trisha Wolfe because she is going to be my new go-to dark read author. She knows how to write a good book, she evokes all the feels within me and I simply love it.
What made me want to read the book is the premise, the Heroine, London is a criminal psychologist. Isn’t that fascinating? I’m trying to think of another book that has this. The one thing I loved about Born, Darkly is the writing. The book is written VERY WELL. For a moment I thought the author had some psychology background because it felt REALLY REAL.
The Hero, Grayson is the criminal. There’s no question to if Grayson is a bad guy. He is, but why is he a bad guy, what are his motivates? How did he become what he is today? So many questions and that really drives the book.
The banter between Grayson and London is the star of the book. Like must dark books this isn’t going to be a hearts and flowers kind of relationship. Both of them will push each other and both of them are going to express their affections in a different way. That to me, was phenomenal.
Born, Darkly is heavily dialogue based and that’s exactly what kind of book I read. All the descriptive writing is needed to set the tone, but there is no overly prose writing. I can’t tell you how annoying it is when a dark author tells me what kind of monster a Hero is. Just let me read it and I’ll find out on my own. Trisha Wolfe does that.
Trisha Wolfe lets me get consumed by the pages, where I feel a connection to the characters and I draw up my own conclusions of them. I love that.
There was never a dull moment in this book. It’s not all about London questioning Grayson, there is so much more. The pacing was perfect.
I also love duet books and PLEASE do not wait for the next book, Born, Darkly is a must read.

I picked up Broken Bonds because it’s trending on Amazon and the book has glowing reviews. I was very disappointed I didn’t love it like 3 – 3.5 Stars
I picked up Broken Bonds because it’s trending on Amazon and the book has glowing reviews. I was very disappointed I didn’t love it like everyone else did.
I think my problem is that I didn’t like the writing style
The author writes in first person POV and the FL, Oli is very immature. Sure she’s in college and sure she can swear but all the cursing and crass talk was a little distracting. I wanted to read something that flowed a little better? You can make your point come across without all of that superfluous verbiage.
When I started the book, I was very confused. I thought I started book 2 by accident and I even looked up to see if this was a spin-off series. I didn’t get any world building. What is a bond? What does it mean to be bonded by men? What are you? What do you mean by gifted? It was all very confusing and I didn’t understand why she ran away from her bonds. I felt like a little back-story would have been nice.
I wasn’t in the mood for a haters to lovers (I guess friendship?) kind of romance. I am never fond of the FL who is rude and very stuck-up. She has a chip on her shoulder and lets everyone know it. I didn’t like how the bonds (the other guys, ML) in the book were super RUDE to her. I understand she ran away from them, but sheesh, it was hard to read.
I also didn’t know the book was a super slow-burn. When I read Reverse Harem I thought it would be somewhat steamy, but I wasn’t in the mood for the unnecessary tension. She’s attracted to them, but she can’t “bond” or her gift would explode?
It was all very confusing and at the end of the day, I was not the target audience for this. I will not continue with the series.
I have mixed feelings on this one. I haven’t read a recently published book by Kristen Ashley for sometime because of all of the negat4 an oldie stars
I have mixed feelings on this one. I haven’t read a recently published book by Kristen Ashley for sometime because of all of the negative reviews, so I thought I couldn’t go wrong with her old stuff.
I liked the book overall, but at the middle point I got frustrated with the writing style and I had to speed up the book by 2X. My husband comments that I don’t like books so I start to speed up the narration.
First off, the narration was good. I like the narrator and she had a sweet and pleasant voice. I did listen to the first half in my usual 1.25X speed. I liked that the book isn’t Kristen Ashley’s typical 22-hour length of read, so about 15 hours wasn’t bad.
I didn’t realize it was a second chance novel and usually those don’t bother me, but when I realized why it was a second chance novel, gah I rolled my eyes and kind of power through the book.
The book had all of the feels of a Kristen Ashley read. You had the girl who is a damsel, the hero who likes to not speak in full sentences and of course everyone around them causing trouble.
I really didn’t like the grandmother, I thought her character was really annoying.
You can’t go wrong with a cowboy and horses.
I don’t know if I will be binging on another Kristen Ashley read anytime soon, but every once in awhile is good. ...more

The Dating Proposal wasn’t a bad book, it was an okay book that pass the time. I liked the length, it’s considered a novella because it’s a little over 3 hours.
I did have a hard time in connecting with the characters. I thought the whole fashion blogger was just silly. It’s hard to see that in an audio book. I rather see that in a movie ya know? You don’t have to tell me every outfit she is wearing. I LOVE fashion, but I don’t care if she wears knock offs and who wears knock offs? Just save your money until you can get the real thing. That’s my personal opinion.
The whole gamer thing was stilly too, but I rather read about his gamming background than her fashion background. Honestly this book should have been perfect for me since I love shopping and my husband loves to play video games, but alas, it was just simply okay.
Nothing really stood out, other than I liked it was short, low angst and light. ...more
I wanted to start a new paranormal series and I saw this author trending on Amazon for some time now s3.5 A decent start stars... but a little boring.
I wanted to start a new paranormal series and I saw this author trending on Amazon for some time now so why not. There are some hits and misses to this book.
First all, I think the book is a touch boring. I feel like there really wasn’t a plot or anything to grab me to anything really.
You don’t have to read the prequel to the series, it didn’t add any value to the book and I kind of regret reading it.
The book so far is cute and is 100% a YA now… I can’t say for sure as I go down the series. I’m okay with the innocent storyline and I was okay with the Cass and Aidan’s relationship. It was slow, but it matched to the beat of the book.
Overall, it was just a blah read. I can’t really tell you anything that stuck out as something worth mentioning. I will continue with the series, but I will take a book or two break. It took me about a week to read this one and that is 6 days too many for me to finish a book. ...more

There’s a reason why I listen to light-hearted audio books. I just can’t take the drama. The Rebel of Raleigh High wasn’t a bad book, I did enjoy most of it, but some parts I had to speed up the narrator by 2X because I just wanted to finish it.
I picked up the audio because I love Teddy Hamilton’s voice and he made it a little better for me.
What I liked.
I liked that the book wasn’t long.
I liked the dual narrators, I felt like they represented the characters well.
I liked that it didn’t take long to find out what happened to Silver and I liked that we knew why Alex needed to be a “good” student.
What I didn’t like.
The villains in this book was too much. Sometimes when authors write angsty-filled books, it just becomes a Debbie downer. Like, how many times can a villain “win”.
The detail description of what happened to Silver was not needed. I didn’t need to listen for an HOUR of what I knew what was going to happen. I know this was meant for dramatic effect, but to me, it felt like a filler. I rather have that scene glossed over.
There wasn’t much high school / Alex and Silver time. Most of the interactions where Silver and Alex got to know each other was at the cabin and that’s a little too easy writing for my taste.
Overall, I’m not sure if I will continue with the story. I kind of want to only because I feel like it might be a little less the villains are winning (as opposed to this book). ...more

If you have audible escape, you need to re-read this classic.
I hadn't read it in forever and I wanted to see how closely the Kiera Knighlty movie tie in with it and it was pretty close, except for some of the declarations of love in the end, but I kind of figured that. I think if you are a true fan, you should watch the movie and read the book within days apart and you will be tickled with the comparison.
Now to watch the Collin Firth version on Amazon prime! ...more

I’ve seen this book trend on amazon for sometime and I love Carly Robins voice and Joe Arden is pretty good so why not I thought.
It’s a light, airy, no fuss kind of book you can leave in the background while you work. It will put a smile on your face.
There really isn’t anything out of the ordinary about the story, it’s about two people marrying for convenience. The book is more about the getting married part, than being in a fake marriage and I was okay with it.
Getting married is stressful enough, but when you thrown in crazy family, demanding parents and secret growing attraction for each other, well it’s a crazy funny mess.
I think the relationship was more on the back-burn for me in the story. I was more interested in the people around the couple getting them to get married, than the marriage itself. I mean, when the Heroine buys a wedding dress a size too small so she goes on a crash diet, well I was laughing my socks off because it’s so hilarious.
I also like that there was a bit of steam in the book, which you hardly get these days!
Overall, funny, light and perfect for being coped up at home for the past 6 weeks!
It was a typical college romance. I thought it was a little bit descriptive and not steamy enough since the guy on the cover is half naked3 Okay stars
It was a typical college romance. I thought it was a little bit descriptive and not steamy enough since the guy on the cover is half naked. I liked the first half more than the second half. I felt like the second half dragged a bit and so I started to skim. The conflicts were typical and I kind of wanted something else.
It was a quick read. Only time will tell if it was needed to read before I start the series, but I didn’t want to be confused.
It seems to be a very3.5
It was a quick read. Only time will tell if it was needed to read before I start the series, but I didn’t want to be confused.
It seems to be a very action packed and very descriptive series. I’m not sure if I like all the descriptive writing, but the dialogue seems to balance it out.
I kind of wanted the Hero to be introduced, but nope. So I have some expectations for the start of the series.
I’m up and down with Vampire Debt. Throughout the entire book you just wonder when Basi and Kyros are going to have sex or when 4 Oh the tension stars
I’m up and down with Vampire Debt. Throughout the entire book you just wonder when Basi and Kyros are going to have sex or when the next blood exchange will happen.
This is a really slow-pace book. It’s for some and it’s not for others. When I read slow pace books the focus is more on the secondary story line and the romance is usually the back-burner. This book is all about the relationship. It’s exhausting and yet you can’t put the book down.
I will agree with some of the lower rated reviews, not much happens except for the last 20% of the book, but I still enjoyed the read. I did start to gloss over some of the detailed parts. I didn’t need to know the percentage of land ownership between each clan had. It was just added non-sense for me.
Vampire debt is about Basi and Kyros trying to work it out. She is frustrating and will not forgive him from knowing about who she was from the start. He’s still demanding and possessive and honestly Kyros is the saving grace of the book. I Love it when the hero chases after the Heroine.
I’m kind of sad the grandmother died without ever having a presence in the book, but that storyline does take a little more space and I didn’t mind that part. I will have to say, the parts where Kyros and Basi aren’t together is a little bit more in this book, so watch out for filler scenes.
I’m not sure if I will jump into the third book right away, only because that is the last book means I’m caught up and I’m not sure I can handle another book with little to no progress.
It was kind of long and boring. Well, it’s actually a short book but the pace was so off. It took forever to get to the next scene. Also the2.5 stars
It was kind of long and boring. Well, it’s actually a short book but the pace was so off. It took forever to get to the next scene. Also the steam was lacking. For a half naked guy on the cover I expected more steam.
The heroine was stupid! Why didn’t she just mail the stupid laptop? I don’t think even her ex can have postal service connections. And can she really drive a bike? What happened to public transit? I found the story kind I silly.
I Think the writing was too descriptive and too narrative. Just pages and pages of descriptive writing. Gah. Why can’t there be more dialogue? Maybe I’ll try the next book in audio since I like narrative books in audio format. ...more

This is Stevie (Heroine) story, she’s the sister of the Hero from the first book. You can read the story out of order, but what’s the point?
You got to love Kindle Unlimited when you can get the audio as well. I basically got this book because of the narrators. There are some books you just listen to because of that, also I don’t think I would have picked up this book otherwise.
Overall, 90% of the book is light, funny and great to have in the background when I’m working. I like the tension between Stevie and Bishop. Their first meeting is a bit dicey, I mean who talks like that to a person they just meet, but I went with it. Once they formed a friendship, it was cute to hear about their meetings.
I didn’t like the last hour of the book because of course, you know what hits the fan and I hate the last minute tension author’s throw in. Stevie got on my nerves b/c of her issues. I wish that wasn’t part of the writing formula, I had to listen to the book 2X the speed to get through that part, but other than that, it’s a light book. ...more

I picked up this book because I saw it on Amazon and I love single mommy reads. BUT, The writing style is not my jam.
I liked that it was more dialogue base. I’m not the type of person that likes to read inner monologues, however, when the main characters goes and talks to his or her best friend after every scene to talk about what JUST happened. Well that’s like having an inner monologue. I really hate that kind of writing. Why can’t the two people just have a relationship, why do they always go to the best friend for advice for everything.
I really hate a secret storyline Granted the secret was really stupid. I mean how can your issues be with rich people? That’s like saying, oh someone was once mean to me, so I don’t like mean people. Huh? Really?
Declan lies about him being rich because Raeanne doesn’t like rich people. Declan also lies about why he went into to big brother problem because what’? He’s embarrassed? Umm.. okay.
I also didn’t like the pace of the book. I felt like 20-30% of all the filler chapters could have been edited out. The lead-up to go into the big brother program took forever! Like … let’s get to the heart of the story ya know.
I usually give authors several chances, but I have a pretty good feel for this one. I’m not fond of the pace or the type of plots that are created. I’m just going to pass. ...more
This was the least favorite out of the three. I really liked the first 30% of the book because it had a lot of dialogue and movement I was also4 Stars
This was the least favorite out of the three. I really liked the first 30% of the book because it had a lot of dialogue and movement I was also curious to see when Darius and Reagan would blood bond, because come on, it’s was going to happen.
When Darius and Reagan go into the underworld, well that’s when things got a little too descriptive for me. I usually like journey stories. You know, you have one goal and the goal is to get to the place you need to go and the journey is the story. I usually like to read these books, but for the life of me, I didn’t like it here.
I felt the trip to the underworld was kind of long, kind of too descriptive and kind of boring. It was also hard to follow the movements because it was just too much action going on. I rather read more vampire / demon politics and I was highly disappointed we didn’t get any Lucifer time, what a let down.
Overall, I really enjoyed the series because of the relationship between Darius and Reagan. I liked that Reagan is tough, funny and she’s her own person. I love reading a book where the Hero chases after the Heroine and this world building was pretty fun to read.
It was a good end, a little boring, but good regardless. ...more
I kind of wish there was more than 3 books in this series. I was really nervous reading the second book only becaus4.5 I really like this series stars
I kind of wish there was more than 3 books in this series. I was really nervous reading the second book only because I had high expectations, but lucky me, they were met.
I liked the pace and the story of book 2. A demon is skinning humans alive and Regan is on the case! I like reading about Reagan and her adventures, especially now she has friends and it’s a team of misfits. It’s adorable.
Like the last book, the relationship between Darius and Reagan isn’t really the main story, but the little bits we get is really nice. I don’t mind this at all because a lot of paranormal books have this kind of pace.
I love Darius he’s the kind of Hero / Alpha / Vampire I love to read in a book. First off, I love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine and second off, I love that he is possessive, aggressive and protective of Regan. It’s cute. He has his minions go into her house and stock her house with food regularly. I love the banter between Reagan and Darius, I could read hundreds of pages of it.
We get some back story of what’s happening with the Vampire politics and of course, Reagan’s daddy. I’m curious to see where everything will go!
Wow I’m shocked and surprised. I’ve had this book on my kindle FOREVER. I’ll be honest, nothing made me scream to read it. I have read a K.F.4.5 Stars
Wow I’m shocked and surprised. I’ve had this book on my kindle FOREVER. I’ll be honest, nothing made me scream to read it. I have read a K.F. Breene book before and although it was good, it wasn’t anything special. Ya know?
Born in Fire was a pretty good book written by an independent author. It felt and read like a traditionally published read and that says a lot because paranormal books are funky to create.
The thing that worked so well for me was the world building and the light-tone pace. The book was a delight and it reminded me a lot of the Kate Daniels series by IIona Andrews.
You have this magical Heroine who’s origins are unknown and are a complete secret for the entire book. She’s a scrappy thing, doing odd jobs just to get by. Everyone loves an underdog story and the fact she was loner only added more to her appeal.
I felt like the pace of the book was on mark for me. When you start a new series, you need to understand the characters and the world the author created. I was really rooting for Reagan to succeed. When she takes up a mission to partner up with Vampire Darius I was 100% curious to see where the story would go.
The book is really slow paced and very descriptive. Usually I don’t go for descriptive or slow paced book, but it really helped me understand what was going on.
The tension between Darius and Regan was just funny and very cute to read. He makes advances on her and she keeps on turning him down. I was laughing at those parts. It’s not a steamy read, but honestly I didn’t need that.
I’m glad I waited for the series to finish because I’m ready to jump into the next book.
You know how you have a favorite author and they always hit the mark and then you read one of their books and you s3 Yup… all the low reviews are true
You know how you have a favorite author and they always hit the mark and then you read one of their books and you scratch your head thinking…. You wrote this one too?
Yeah, that’s how I feel about Pucked Up. Granted I am reading the series years later than everyone, but goodness, this one was an effort to get through and Joe Arden’s voice couldn’t save this book for me either.
The book is just written poorly. I mean, you have a lot of things going wrong in this one.
1.) The pace was off, like way off. You have pages and pages of useless filler trying to be funny writing. The first part of the book is Buck being a total messed up and letting girls see him naked (granted he is drunk) but still. I didn’t understand the long introduction of the story.
2.) Like my first comment there was way too much not needed writing. There was a WHOLE section dedicated to Buck shaving his private parts. Like if I was a male and I needed an instruction manual, I could have used this book for reference! I know Helena is trying to be “funny” but it came off as cringe worthly and awkward.
3.) The Heroine, Sunny is awful and it didn’t help she didn’t get her own POV. Because the whole book is in Miller’s POV, you truly saw his side, even though he’s insane at times, but Sunny was just plan ANNOYING. I love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine, but oh my goodness does he have to bleed himself dry to win the affection of a not-so great girl? Seriously what was so great about her?
The ENTIRE book is about Sunny not trusting Miller and misunderstanding pictures posted on social media. REALLY?! A picture can only show a portion of the truth and instead of having a normal conversation like normal adults, Sunny flips out and acts irrationally.
This book was STRUGGLE to get through. I had to speed up the narration to 2X to just finish.
I truly recommend skipping this book if you are going through the series. ...more

Got to love it when a series is available in audio escape. This world building reminds me a lot like Lynsay Sands series. I didn’t know immortals were a thing. Anyhow ...
I can see how this book might be hit or miss for some. It’s a little wordy and the world building is a lot. I think because I did it via audio my experience was better. I tend to get suck into plots and narrative writing when i listen to books
Honestly the couple was kind of an afterthought for me. I was Interested in the plot and the Vampire that was after the Hero.
The book started out with a bang and I liked how the heroine saved the hero. The beginning of the book was mega slow and if you never read an immortal book well the explanations are very detailed. Once you get past that I was consumed with the secondary characters (Seth being my favorite) and the mystery of why Sab was after Roland.
Overall it was interesting to me and I really want Seth’s story.
Oh. I don’t like how in this world vampires are bad and you can’t drink from other people bc that could turn them into an vampire. Maybe that might change. ...more

The heroine isConsidering i gave Asher black five stars it goes to show a horrible storyline can change everything
I had three issues with this book.
The heroine is awful. I have never liked reading books where the heroine trades sex for money, power or stability. It’s an awful trait to read and there are better alternatives. Have some pride. Using the sister as an excuse was a push.
The book is 99% narrative and descriptive base writing. I’m talking of pages and pages of inner monologues. It was so repetitive. There and I kid you not are probably a handful of dialogue conversations held in the book. That’s lazy writing to me.
The main characters, Nick and the heroine don’t fully interact until the 50% mark. There zero chemistry between them and the tension is nonexistent. It’s a forced relationship and very it was difficult to read.
