This summer I'm leaving my hometown for a fresh start. It's a necessary choice in my pursuit of a full and sober life. Besides, escaping to the Outer Banks isn't a hardship. This seaside town holds everything I need and more.
That is, until I run into Chase Matthews.
He's an arrogant, cocky, self-absorbed jerk who has already come between me and my best friend once. The smart thing to do is keep him at a distance, even if he seems lost and alone.
Instead, I'm compelled to help him.
Chase is broken and beautiful in ways I fully understand. It's been months since I've indulged in a drink, but I've found a new obsession.
He's everything I want and the last thing I need.
Each day draws us closer, but I can't allow myself to get caught up in Chase. We were only meant to have the summer. A temporary fling. Yet my heart has other plans. I don't know how I'll ever walk away. Even if he costs me everything.
Start with Alicia and Chase's epic love story in Caught in the Chase, or start with Callie's book in Caught in the Flames.

When she's not writing you will find her tracking down one of her three children, drinking iced tea by the gallon, or planning her next escape from the Arizona heat.

Caught in the Chase by Kacey Shea was an inspiring, heart wrecking and gut wrenching ride. The author took me on an emotional journey with some complex characters and their complicated feels. This is the kind of angsty romance that breaks my heart but also fill my heart with all consuming emotions.
Chase and Alicia has a more than complex history. One that is ridden with guilt, shame and reckless decisions. They have a common enemy. Addiction. Now Alicia is volunteering at a community centre for summer. And Chase has been sentenced by court to do community service after his addiction destroyed more than one lives. They have too many fights in their hands. Can two wounded souls find healing touch in each other? This is the first part of a tragically beautiful romance.
This story has two kinds of love stories. One is what romance is all about. Between a man and a woman. From physical attraction to mental connections. I would say Alicia and Chase are just realising they really have fallen in love with each other. The chemistry is explosive and too hot to handle. Their hearts are connected through a twisted and deep bond that's hard to ignore.
But the second kind of love story is the speciality of this novel. Addiction is a monster. Chase and Alicia both had to embrace their issues and tackle them. And it's a long battle. Alicia may be at a better place. But she still has scars. Fear of relapse. Desperately and irrationally trying to please everyone except herself. And Chase is a mess of anger, frustration and self loathing. Alicia removed the negativity a lot but it's not enough. They had some beautiful and swoonworthy moments and those moments made me happy. But they have a long way ahead and my heart is wrecked. The writing was just so brilliant.
Kacey Shea made me feel all the aching, explosive and angsty feels in Caught in the Chase. It hooked me from the beginning and I lost myself in this all consuming romance.
I must be going crazy, because I swear I wrote my review for this book when this released last year.. but alas, I can't find it. But I am here to tell you all that this book is AMAZING and deserves waaaaay more attention than it's getting. Seriously, Kacey packed ALL the feels in the first part of this duet, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book two!
I'll be the first to admit that I am a huge sucker for bad boys. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. There self destructive ways is like catnip to me (in romances only though, lol!) so I definitely have a love hate relationship with Chase because he was SUCH a jerk in the first two books in this series, but now that I am inside of his head? I can't NOT love him. This man is battling so many things at once, and is trying to make amends for his wrongdoings, and quite honestly, I love the fact that he admits to himself that it wasn't the best man, but he acknowledges that and he changes and grows, and dammit if that's not what life is all about. He was just such a real character, and every one of his flaws just made me love him even more.
Alicia.. I just love her so much. Did I want to shake her at times? Yes. Did I want to wrap her in my arms and give her the worlds biggest hug? Also yes. I love how she made Chase work to earn her heart, and she in turn brought out a completely different side of him as well. They have such a beautiful and emotional relationship, and I just loved every second of it. And the heat?! Good lord, five alarm fire!!
This book deals with some very real topics, and regardless what some may believe, addiction is a disease and it doesn't care who it tears down in its path. I was raised by an addict, so I saw so much of myself in these characters: how they were hurt by addiction, how they both loved and hated the addict, how scared they were of the inevitable rock bottom.. Kacey just poured her heart out in this book and it shows. If you are in the right headspace to handle this topic, I so encourage you all to read this book. It's just so freaking beautiful.
It does end on a cliffhanger, but part two will be here soon! And trust me.. I just know the best is yet to come!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
"Because it's the truth! It happened! You don't get to rewrite history. You don't get to erase me."
Chase Matthews is the bad boy that every body loves to hate and Kacey Shea's story writing skills eloquently rise up to the challenge, paving out an addictive, complex and flawed journey to redemption.
Caught in the Chase is so much more than I could've hoped for. Unsure of what to expect I was completely blown away by the depth of Alicia and Chase's story. Layered with pain, anger and regret, both these characters will weave themselves around your heart as they embark on a complicated and life changing journey to find their happy ever after.
First things first … *sigh* you gotta start at the beginning with this series. The books are interconnected. Also, this particular book ends in a pause to the journey and it’s necessary. This story is emotionally driven and fueled by a lot of heart wrenching conflict within our leads. They have a history. They have a past. They have struggles. Their life is dramatic and full of conflict. This is one of those stories where you dread turning the page at the same time as you can’t wait for the next chapter because it is hopeful. It is redeeming. It is love.
GAWD, my emotions were all over the place with this story and I feel, no, I know, the most uphill battle has yet to come. Let me tell you guys something I know, addiction of any kind is a destructive disease that doesn’t care who gets in its way. Its sole purpose is to destroy. To battle and win such a monster is a herculean feat. I do not know what lies ahead for our leads, but I do know that Kacey has done an exceptional job thus far with this story and I am looking forward to reading the second half of Chase & Alicia’s journey! She has written two beautifully scarred and imperfect soles destined to heal each other. It’s just perfect …
(audiobook) I’m not totally sold, but I definitely enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait to read the end of the duet.
Addiction is at the heart of the story, mostly alcoholism. How it starts, the impact of someone’s life, when they reach rock bottom, the moment one realizes his addiction, the decision to search for help, the long and uncertain recovery, the relapses… All the steps of an addict’s journey are there. But not in a didactic way, no worries.
We follow two characters who are at different moments of their own journey. Alicia has been sober for some time already, though she had a relapse several months before. That’s when she made a mistake with Chase, who, at the beginning of the story, doesn’t even realize the impact alcohol has on his life. Alicia will help him on his path to recovery.
But of course, attraction and feelings get in the way. It’s kind of a forbidden romance between a recovering addict and his sponsor–a recipe for a mess. But at the same time, maybe their connection is what makes Chase aware of his problem, and willing to do something about it. On the other hand, Alicia is riddled with guilt over what happened with Chase, and is trying to atone for it in a way, while keeping their fling a secret. Do you see the disaster coming?
My main problem was with the characters actually. They aren’t exactly good people, and not because of their addiction. They were in the previous duet of the series, and though I haven’t read it, we get enough details here to understand that they did some pretty bad stuff before. But they also have reasons and explanations and excuses for their behavior–and valid ones at that. And you end up liking them and rooting for them. I don’t like being manipulated into liking bad people. Good job from the author though.
I enjoyed the setting of the story. Both Alicia and Chase, for very different reasons, spend their summer helping troubled kids. It was interesting because that meant a lot of interactions with other characters, and the kids have their own story, that isn’t related to the main romance. It also helped Chase and Alicia not being focused solely on their relationship. They have a duty and responsabilities, and the way they handle them is part of their journey.
Their families and friends also have an important role in the book. It was a bit too easy to make them the reason Chase and Alicia started drinking in the first place, but the dramas are interesting.
The narration was great. Maybe Alicia deserved to have a little more energy, but the narrator expresses her emotions perfectly. The male narrator, as usual, is amazing, and gives the right cockiness mixed with uncertainty to Chase. Twelve hours well spent.
Quickie
- Series: Caught #3 (first part of the second duet, ends on a cliffhanger) - Hashtags: #firefighter romance #enemies to lovers #redemption #addiction recovery - Triggers: past alcoholism, mention of past child abuse, car accident, sickness - Main couple: Alicia Martin & Chase Matthews - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + how addiction and recovery are treated - – while understandable and a smart plot device, Alicia’s unstability can be annoying
If you have read the other books in this series you'll be familiar with Chase and Alicia. All these books are well worth reading and I recommend them all. That being said, I think if you wanted to jump in here, with this book, you could fairly easily. Are there characters that reappear and previous events referenced? Yes, they do and yes, there are, but I felt that everything was very well laid out and explained in such a way that you could dive in and you'd be just fine.
Now, lets get into the nitty gritty about this book. Alicia and Chase are complex, complicated and very flawed characters and I thought that this had a tendency to make the them anywhere from somewhat to very unlikable at times throughout the book. I did feel that this was realistic and perfectly fit with the story being told. Painful mistakes, bad choices, heavy emotional baggage, life altering secrets and deep seated feelings create a strong springboard to build off of as this gripping and emotional read unfolds. I feel that I'm doing you a favor by warning you that the start of this book in particular is hard to read. It is raw, very tragic and is prone to having you make judgement calls that you are going to have to work to get past. Again, I thought this fit with the storyline. This is a book that can really effect you and I believe that how it does and how hard it does will greatly depend on your own life experiences and feelings. I admit that for me it was sometimes quite a challenge but I am so glad I took the time I needed and pushed through because this "shine a light on all the dark corners" book has a very important and powerfully moving story to tell.
These characters are going to push some buttons and they quite often make you feel like your heart is being torn in two. Alcoholism is like any other addiction. It can make the very best of us do things we find it impossible to imagine doing, including hurting the ones we love, putting ourselves at risk and doing things you can never take back and this brutally harsh truth is what makes this story sometimes so very hard to read. I will say that one of the things that really struck me about these characters is that in spite of the many outward differences that they present to the world, on the inside they share a startling amount of painful similarities. The chemistry and connection they share is really undeniable but they have many internal and external obstacles standing in the way of them finding both solo and couple happiness.
This book does end on a soft cliffhanger and you'll have to wait to find out what happens in Caught In Us, the conclusion to this duet of books. If you enjoy a read that can offer a blend of heavy and hopeful, heartbreaking and romantic, steamy and sweet and realistic and relatable, you need to grab a copy and dive in. I'm posting an independent, impartial review.
Caught in the Chase is a story that will grip hard and will hold your heart within the words of the pages. It is heartbreaking and emotional and one that will have you on the edge of your seat. Two characters that are broken, complicated and flawed are undeniably drawn to each other. Their story is not an easy one and at times will leave you feeling raw and angsty. Chase and Alicia are characters with similarities that are evident, however complications and hurdles seem to stand in their way at every turn of finding happiness. A story that will feel at times like it is shattering your heart to leave you emotionally drained. Be prepared for a cliffhanger as the chase is on for an us with these two. Caught in the Chase is not all hearts and flowers but it is real, inspirational, captivating and a journey worth riding out.
A dependency on alcohol led to some behavior that not only hurt her but those she was closest to. Alicia has worked hard to overcome her past so when her life collides with Chase’s once again she knows it is in her best interest to stay away but that is easier said than done.
Chase’s life has been a series of bad choices and self-destructive behavior. His past with Alicia is filled with pain and guilt so spending the summer with her could either be his redemption or his downfall.
If you have read the first two books in the series you may think you know Chase and Alicia but the more we learn about them the more we want to know. Their emotion filled journey draws you in as they work towards being the people they want to be and not the people they were and leaves us wanting more of this intriguing couple.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Wow. What can I say, I certainly wasn’t expecting a book that gives a lesson in humility, acceptance, addiction, forgiveness and understanding. This book blew me away, Kacey certainly didn’t shy away from writing about some pretty serious issues that people face. Casey and Alicia are two broken characters, who also happen to hate each other. The story of how they come together was so good, the history they share and the problems they each have make for such an interesting storyline and giving the characters a real complexity. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next book to find out where the story will go.
“So, you still want to be here all summer?” she says, stopping at the receptionist desk to grab something from behind the counter. Does she really think I’d so easily quit? That I’m scared of a little hard work? “Tell me what to do.” “You’re up for anything?” She shoves a shirt and badge at my chest. Anything. “Hell, yeah.” I don’t think her idea is the same as mine. Disappointing. I pull the center’s volunteer shirt on over my plain white tee and meet her gaze. “Hit me with your best.” I tip my chin in a silent challenge I can’t help. At her wide grin, it’s probably one I’ll regret. “Oh, Chase. I’m going to have so much fun with you.” By her delight it sounds as if it’ll be anything but enjoyable. “Hey, Charlie!” she calls over my shoulder. “I need you to make our new volunteer regret the day he was born.” Charlie glances from me to Alicia and laughs uncomfortably. “Uh, okay.” “He wants all the manual labor,” she clarifies and shoots me a grin. “That right?” Like I’ll back down. “Whatever you need. Whatever you want.” Preferably naked, with my hands on her body. “Cool,” Charlie says. “There’s a drainage issue with one of the women’s shower stalls. Once I get that fixed, I’ll get him started on sanding down the fencing around the center. It needs a refinish.” “Chase is happy to glove up and help you with the shower drains,” she says sweetly. “Aren’t you?” My jaw ticks. “Sure.” “Good.” She grins, as if she’s won this round. “I’ll leave you to it!” She turns on her heel and marches off before I can get in another word. “Dude." Charlie chuckles. "What did you do to piss her off?”
Chase and Alicia's book is LIVE and available to read with KU! I hope you enjoy this book. This couple has totally consumed me as a writer and I poured everything into this one. Flawed, complex characters and heavy subject matter make this book a page turner you won't want to put down!
Caught in the Chase is book 3 in the Caught series and this time it's Alicia and Chase's turn in the spotlight! While the author did an exceptional job telling the story of these two characters, keep in mind that the journey doesn't end here. Book 3 is the first in a duet setting the stage and the tone for a very gut wrenching, heartwarming, emotional roller coaster that you're sure to love! This book is HEAVY on the FEELS!
If you've read the previous books, then you know of Alicia and Chase. However, if you haven't there's no need to worry because the book is wonderfully written, and the author provided plenty of details to get you up to speed. I strongly suggest you go back and read books 1 and 2 as soon as you get the chance though because you'll love them too! Such a great series. ❤️
While both previous books have been terrific reads, this book was something special! To fully appreciate my love of this story, I need to admit that I was not a huge Chase fan prior to book 3. He was a bad boy, and not in all the best ways...lol. As it turns out, Kacey has been hiding a rather particular talent from her readers....her capacity to write some insanely compelling REDEMPTION ROMANCE!!! I was like WHAT IS SHE DOING?!?! How dare she make me fall in love with Chase Matthews!!!! OMGGG...this book ripped my heart out you guys. AND CHASE....WOW! Is there anything better than a man with real imperfections, wrestling his demons, turning over a new leaf, and fighting for love? I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest while reading this one!
This story had so much goodness to offer, but by no means was it the easiest of reads. It was laced with real emotion, explored genuine pain, came face to face with true guilt, and embraced the journey of real growth. It was not always pretty, nor was it smooth, but it was phenomenal and I felt every emotion that Chase and Alicia went through down to my marrow! A very memorable read that I can't wait to continue in the next release because I'm addicted to love!!! Especially the complicated kind that Alicia and Chase excelled at giving us. Le Sigh!!!
I'm an avid reader, and I know what I like and what I do not. I love a book that deals with the real issues that couples face, and tells their stories in a raw, unmasked fashion. I also love stories of redemption and inspiration, and this storyline has that in spades! It's a remarkable, inspirational story that just has all my emotions running wild and free. This book hangover is no joke y'all! So worth it though. It's also the kind of story that will hit each reader differently, another reason the book is special. Depending on your personal walk through this life, or the experiences you've shared with loved ones, this book will resonate with every reader in a unique way. I loved it and can't wait for more! BRAVO KACEY SHEA! 👏💕
Caught In The Chase is the third book in the Caught series and is the first part of Alicia and Chase's story. and its a heart wrenching tale of love, loss and dealing with addiction whilst finding something unexpected. We've seen glimpses of Alicia and Chase in previous books in the series and now we have their story and what a story it is! After a devastating accident, Chase is banished to Kittyhawk and has to volunteer at a community centre for the next three months. Alicia has found a great job for the summer and couldn't be more excited to get away from Richmond and start something new. But what she wasn't expecting was Chase volunteering at the centre too. Chase and Alicia have a messy history, filled with regret and a lot of alcohol and times they both want to forget. But during the summer, something unexpected happens, by helping each other with their sobriety, they end up growing closer which then leads to something more. "Deep down he's the same as me. Just another soul desperate for connection. Both haunted by our pasts." What Alicia and Chase have created in their KittyHawk bubble is something incredible and something neither of them would of expected or imagined was possible. But when you can't tell you family and friends about your relationship. Can it last past Kittyhawk or are Chase and Alicia doomed to live by the mistakes of their past? Read Caught In The Chase to find out, you wont regret it! I loved Caught In The Chase so much, it was so good and very gripping, I couldn't put it down and when I did I was constantly thinking about Alicia and Chase! I cannot wait for the second part of their story!
So to even understand half of what's going on, I do suggest you read the previous stories. Chase and Alicia were a big part of Callie's story. Since I did read the previous stories, this story was a bit rough for me; I have realized I am not a forgive and forget type of person, more like a die in hell type. There is so much I want to say about this story, but I also don't want to spoil things. So, I'll just stick with the basics. Alicia and Chase were both part of what was a mistake, this was months ago and lives have moved on, some for better and others not so good. They both end up at the Outer Banks, a surprise for them both, but is this a good one or a bad one? The fire they both feel for the other is still there under the surface, but is this desire something they should even give in to? Are either of them in a place where this is a good idea?
I'm going to say that I am, for once, actually understanding why this is a two part story. There was so much going on, that it wouldn't have been fair to pack it into one book. Secrets are revealed, pasts are rehashed, loads of drama, some really hot naughty bits; we get a really good story. Can't wait to read the rest of it. I give this 4 stars.
Chase is a mess! A huge mistake leaves him with regret and community service hours to fulfill. He gets sent to his uncles, out of town to work those hours.
Alicia takes an internship for the summer out of town. Her parents don’t like it, and her trust is on hold because she chose to go, but she needs to do this for herself.
What are the odds they’d end up in the same place? Yep, you guessed it! What happens when they spend the summer together? Lots of things that you want to read about! This book is a well written, amazing story of two people who run in the same friends circle and have a history. They’re attracted to each other, but he’s Callies ex... and Alicia can’t tell Her friends... and Chase doesn’t want to be her secret. Although Chase has not been my favorite in these books, he’s growing on me...
Kacey Shea is a talented author and I enjoy reading what she writes! I have loved this series and this is another one that is excellent. This book is fantastic... and you’ll want to read it... and if you’re like me... you’ll be dying for the next one by the time you finish!
“Shame weighs heavy in every fiber of my being. For all that I’ve done and everything I’ve never said.”
This book is really eye opening seeing an addiction and struggle from a different perspective. It’s so easy to think you would handle the situation different. That you could just switch your habits on a dime. It’s heartbreaking to see the guilt, shame, regret, disappointment, daily struggle...hourly struggle...minute struggle of each and every day.
“I feel as though I’m on the edge of something better—a life I’ve always wanted and never felt worthy or deserving of. But I’m taking back my power. I’m making a way despite a rocky start.”
It’s inspiring to see the determination, support, strength, friendship and effort it takes to claw your way back and bringing others with them. It also takes strength to leave toxic people behind.
“Your truth is more precious than anyone’s reaction. It’s part of who you are.”
The chemistry is a great bonus to this read. It’s almost an addiction in itself.
“I’m playing with fire. I’m just not sure which of us is bound to get burned.”
I am excited to read Caught in Us since I was not expecting a cliffhanger. There are several characters I’m hoping get their own story or at-least are heavily woven into Caught in Us.
I haven't read the other books in this series but was able to follow the storyline. This is book one of this couples journey so get ready for that ending ( unlike me ).
Chase and Alicia have a very complicated history that was revealed slowly and I liked that I got to know them without prior opinions. This story deals with addiction and at times it is a heavy hard read. Like me you may find yourself not liking either main characters but stick with it because it is worth it. These two are flawed people and I loved the way that Kacey wrote them it was real and unapologetic. Despite the history between them it is a slow burn and this fit with where they are now. I adored the group of young characters, one in particular but also how they are used to help them heal and move forward. This story is emotional and will push your buttons but the messages of personal responsibility and forgiveness make this an unforgettable book.
Another gripping story by Kacey Shea. Emotional, passionate and compelling Alicia and Chase's road to Romance is not all plain sailing and sometimes it was hard to read. They are both troubled and imperfect, but they are drawn to eachother and even though Alicia has her own sobriety to think of she feels strongly that she wants to help Chase. Their chemistry is magnetic, steamy and something they can't deny, with the subject of addiction what was meant to be a summer fling develops into something more and parting will be harder than they thought. The Seaside town it took place in was a welcome escape it warmed my emotional soul...my heart ached for these two characters and I was more and more captivated by each chapter I read.My emotions were on a permanent rollercoaster . I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for more from this author, this is an amazing series and this is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it. 5 stars
Wow, Caught in the Chase is an extremely gut-wrenching emotional journey where we meet Chase and Alicia. Both of these characters have been through a lot and it has impacted them both in ways they are both still dealing with. Alicia and Chase end up in the same place for the summer, one wants to avoid the other and the other wants to be try to get along. Alicia and Chase will smash your heart and slowly build it back together, however, fair warning, we have to wait for the next book to continue on with their journey. I cannot wait for it. Caught in the Chase grabs you from the start, has you on the edge of your seat, and throwing your emotions all over the place. If you want to fully experience and understand the connection between Alicia and Chase read this book and see what happens! Then we can count the days until the next book is out!
Alicia and Chase have a history and a shared disease - alcoholism. Alicia knows what it is like to hit rock bottom; Chase has just reached that point himself. After driving drunk, he gets in a crash that paralyzes his friend and fellow firefighter. As part of his sentence, he moves to the Outer Banks for the summer to do community service while living in his uncle’s beach house. Alicia is already there, working at the same community center while waiting to hear if she got into grad school. They feel a connection again, but this time it is a true connection, without alcohol to cloud their judgement.
I really liked this book - I think it talked a lot about redemption and how people who feel that they are broken can come back with a good support network. I thought the relationship between Alicia and Chase was sweet and hot. They talked about being honest with each other no matter what but I think they both were still holding back a piece of themselves.
I have not read the other books in this series but now I want to go back and read them. I think since Chase is a big part of the first book, it would be interesting. That being said, this book worked as a stand alone for me and I think the author included enough information for me to understand how Alicia and Chase knew each other.
This book is part of a duet so the HEA is not in this book.
Ugh Ms. Kacey sure knows how to make me go into the ugly cry! In a good way of course.
Alicia and Chase are two souls who are on such destructive paths when we meet them. They both have a past with each other that they rather forget. Alicia nearly lost everything she held dear but soon she was on track to finally make some head way. She struggles with alcohol and has one night that makes her fall back into her demons. Then there is Chase who is also on such a destructive path, he makes a horrible mistake and it tears him apart so much that he continues to follow his destruction until faith steps in and bring him and Alicia to the same place for the same amount of time. They will have to work together to help each other heal. This story is powerful, and I cannot way it to keep reading this series
I loved this story, I was a bit apprehensive about reading it, because I HATED CHASE! But I had faith the the AMAZING Kacey Shea could redeem his. AND . . . wow did she ever!
Chase was such a jerk, and after a terrible tragedy, it gets worse, but throughout the beginning of this book, he begins to change and turns into an amazing character who had me cheering him on.
Alicia was also a character that I was not a huge fan of, but getting to know her throughout this book made me love her as well.
This book ends on a cliffhanger, but it made me very excited to read the Caught In Us.
This is the 3rd book in the series. Although you do not have to read books 1 and 2, it makes the story even better if you do.
While neither Chase nor Alicia has quite been my favorite in this series, I was really excited to see what Kacey Shea did with their story. And holy heck did it completely blow me away, as that Caught in the Chase was not what I expected for them! The angst, the emotion, the drama, the heartache......I felt like I was holding my breath a lot just waiting for them to figure out that there was something special between them. I know Alicia had reservations because of Chase's history with Callie, but the bond they were forming in the Outer Banks was something they couldn't ignore.
But now......my heart is just absolutely broken because that ending, while not a WTF type cliffy being that this is a duet, ahhh.....I'm just so sad because there is just so much love between Alicia and Chase and I know it's going to be a rough road for them to work back to that place they were in when they spent those few amazing days together.
If you've been reading the "Caught" series, Chase and Alicia will not be strangers to you. They've played pivotal parts in books 1 & 2. But Caught in the Chase, we learn more about the real Chase and Alicia, what they think, what they've been through and why they act or react they way they have and do. This book has so many emotions, and what I call "hidden agendas". There's so much love and support. But there's also the lack of too! This story has new people and a new setting and a bunch of new challenges. My first favorite part of the book is the wonderful Dedication. But it didn't stop there! My second favorite part of the story is hot weather and a beach. It helped to warm me up on a cold winter day as I read! I'll be wanting this book in paperback!
This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and is Chase and Alicia’s story, and these two are complex and flawed characters who are drawn to each other. The chemistry between these two is undeniable, and they have many challenges to overcome for them to move forward together. This is a well written story which is raw, gritty, heartbreaking, tragic, emotionally charged, realistic, relatable, and with secrets, bad choices, which all leads to a steamy and powerful storyline. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
Oh my heart! Chase and Alicia are not the simplest of couples, they are flawed and complicated but if anything that made me love them so much more. Their story is far from perfect but who's is right?! It was raw and real and as quick as it broke my heart it was filled with hope that all would be ok. I can't wait for their conclusion in Caught In Us. I know the rest of their journey is going to be far from easy. It's going to be a gut filled, heart wrenching rollercoaster of a ride but I'm ready. I don't cope well without an HEA, I need to know they'll be ok and work it out. I need more!!
Now, I went into this book totally blind, not realizing it was part of a series, but I will definitely be adding the other books to my (very long) TBR list pronto!
This did not deter me from reading this book, as I went in with no pre-existing knowledge of the characters.
Kacey did a great job with the characters of Chase and Alicia. They were well-developed, and I found myself rooting for them to get together.
This was definitely an emotional read for me, but it would be a book I would go back to and re-read all over again in a heartbeat!
I don’t even know where to start. This book was heartbreaking and emotional. Chase and Alicia both have demons they’re fighting. They’ve both made mistakes and they’re trying hard to change. But this story isn’t just about Chase and Alicia. It’s about so much more. The real life stuff no one likes talking about. I couldn’t put it down. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen Kacey throws another curve and shocks you. But she leaves it in a cliffhanger and now I don’t know what to do with myself. I can’t wait for their second book! A definite must read!
Wow, I just finished this one and I can't even think about picking up another book right now! This one hit all the marks...and left me hangin'.
I never thought Chase could redeem himself, but Kacey did a remarkable job of making him someone you want to believe in. I love the Chemistry between Chase and Alicia, they are two broken souls that just fit together. I need closure for these two, I need the HEA, I need therapy after this emotional ending....I need Caught in Us ❤
Well it's official.. Kacey Shea is trying to kill me! My heart cannot handle endings like that... so many emotions, so much truth & now I will count the minutes until Caught In Us!
Seriously, Chase & Alicia's story was not for the faint of heart... full of such realness, honest emotions & some pretty tough subjects... these two definitely had/have the odds stacked against them. A summer fling that turns into so much more than either of them could've expected. Angst, Recovery & Off the Charts Chemistry.. Caught in the Chase was simply everything.
