She’s a walking, talking disturbance of his peace…
When former Navy SEAL West Donovan trades covert ops for small-town cop, he craves calm and order. Rescuing a sexy, law-bending hitchhiker during a rainstorm raises his gut-level trouble detector—plus a few things south of his gut—into the red zone. He vows to help this particular tumbleweed find her way and keep it professional, but when she becomes his downstairs neighbor, professionalism is sorely tested. He’s got red lingerie infiltrating his laundry, sultry songs invading his bedroom, and suddenly he’s the one in need of rescue.
Aspiring singer/songwriter Roxy Goodhart ventures to Bluelick, Kentucky to outrun her latest mistake. It’s a doozy, involving a lying ex-manager, a dire lack of cash, and a teensy bit of grand larceny. Landing in the long, strong, entirely too tempting arms of the law is no way to keep a low profile while she re-builds her “L.A. or bust” fund. Taking an apartment that—oops—puts her under West…er...in his path every day doesn’t help. Testing his impressive reserve is beyond reckless, but she’d love to test it…all…night…long.
Wine lover, sleep fanatic, and USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy contemporary romance novels, Samanthe Beck lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her long-suffering husband, Charles, and their turbo-son, Hud. Throw in a furry ninja assassin named Gander, a few hundred Nerf blasters, one electric guitar, (with amp!), and…well…you get the picture.
When not dreaming up fun, fan-your-cheeks ways to get her characters to happy-ever-after, she searches for the perfect cabernet to pair with ASMR podcasts.
Super sexy and loaded with love. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For me there is no better story than one that includes a hot cop and this is a perfect example!
Beck created the perfect specimen in West! Not only is he sweet, compassionate, and caring, but he is one long drink of water that can cool the hottest flames. I need one of these in my life!
Roxy is a great female character as well. It is tough for me to say that as I am usually overly critical of female characters but she is not whiney, overly annoying, or thinks that anything is owed to her. She is a great balance for West and that is huge.
Together these two can set fires. The heat and steam is off the hook and I love the combustion these two fuel. But the plot is also a solid, interesting story as well. The supporting characters round out the story and give a well balanced, entertaining food for your brain.
While not deep and life changing, Wet and Reckless is a story with fun, humor, steam, friends, delight, and an awesome HEA (Happily Ever After) we love!
3 - "Were you born this bossy, or did you grow into it..?" Stars.
We return to the Private Pleasures series with book four; Wet & Reckless giving us uptight cop West, and free-spirited Roxy’s story.
Aside from the cringe-worthy title, and questionable start (perving on an unconscious woman isn’t really a turn-on imo), West & Roxy’s story was what I’d call steady. Not a huge amount occurring in the first third over and above them circling around each other and the attraction between them, but things did heat up and move along a bit more after that.
"Be careful what you wish for…"
Opposites-attract is always a favourite and I didn’t mind this one, but it lacked the heat and fast paced plot that I have come to expect from a Brazen title, but over and above the predicted conflict everyone was left happy and satisfied at the end of the day so not all bad.

Here’s what I liked best about this story. Roxy, our leading lady, gets two HEAs! You read that right. Why two you ask? Well, she got the guy and a place to call home with people who genuinely care for her and have her best interest at heart! I loved that so much for this story because it could easily have focused on just West and Roxy but the author made the choice of gifting Roxy with a place she didn’t have to run from any more as well. So as a reader, I got two *happy sighs* for one! #winning
Wet & Reckless was all the fun and flirty you could ask for. Roxy and West had great chemistry and even tho there’s an edge of mystery to the story with Roxy, there really isn’t LOL I mean … who didn’t see it all coming? Amirite? But that doesn’t matter because the happy and giddy you will feel while reading is what’s important.
It's been awhile since I've read this author and I'm not sure why I've waited so long. I can say 100% that this author really knows how to write sexy scenes. You could feel the heat with every encounter between Roxy and West. That alone makes this book worth the read, but there is so much more you get with this book. The setting is in a small town in Kentucky, so that brings you all sorts of side characters to fall in love with. You also get the previous couples from the other books in this series. Even with that, you can easily read this as a standalone. Overall, I just found this to be a really good read and it makes me want to read more from the author.
Opposites attract in Wet and Reckless. Samanthe Beck’s fourth Private Pleasures book is smokin’ hot and tons of fun with characters who are easy to like. West is a strong, serious, by-the-book cop and Roxy is a confident, sassy musician with tons of talent and a secret that could ruin everything. At first they’re like oil and water but the sexual attraction between them is impossible to ignore. I loved the banter, the tension, and the pull neither could resist.
Roxy and West shouldn’t work as a couple but they fit together perfectly. West is straight-laced (outside of the bedroom) and protective and Roxy is outgoing in confident in ways that drive him wild. Roxy teaches West to unbend and he helps her face her problems instead of running away. Roxy’s past has plenty of heartbreaking moments and I wanted to see her find home and become the person she’s meant to be. Neither she nor West is perfect; West can be stubborn and not see shades of grey and Roxy can be impulsive and, well, reckless. But their flaws help build their characters and I loved to watch them grow over the course of the story.
Wet and Reckless is sexy as can be but it’s the characters and the heart they have that make the book memorable. This is the fourth installment of Beck’s Private Pleasures series but having not yet read the first three books I can say with confidence Roxy and West’s story stands on its own. I really liked the town of Bluelick and the people in it make me eager to read the stories I’ve missed. All in all I really enjoyed Wet and Reckless. It’s a fast-paced, sexy ride with characters who are easy to like and a romance you can root for.
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
My favorite of the series so far! It was incredibly hot–and the tension, the desire! There also was a lot of heart. I seriously enjoyed how the relationship between Roxy and West built, how they first denied their attraction then became sort of friends before surrendering. And then… volcano hot!
Both characters were well written. Their backstory was interesting, and it explained their present struggles. Maybe West’s was a bit shallower, but he was still quite fleshed out. I loved seeing them slowly understanding each other.
I also loved coming back to Bluelick. All favorite characters were there and that made me happy. Others were introduced, and I can’t wait to see them again in the next book–because there’ll be a next one, right?
The general theme of looking for and finding–or not–a home gave motivations and goals to both Roxy and West. With a tiny bit of suspense and a lot of delicious banter, it was a very entertaining read!

I’m curious
Samanthe Beck is a new-to-me author. Never one to shy away from giving a new author a try, I was intrigued enough by the cover and the blurb to take a chance on this book. I have mixed feelings about this one, though.
From the very first chapter, I had a hard time getting into the story. I wasn’t sure I cared for West much at all at the beginning or the directions of his thoughts regarding a very young woman in distress. Maybe it’s because I’m a girl mom and the world out there scares me for her, but his thoughts and feelings about Roxy utterly turned me off. And if I can’t connect with the main characters, the story will usually fall flat for me.
Despite my reluctance to continue, I wanted to be able to give a well-thought-out and well-rounded review, so I powered on. My reward for pressing on was a much more well-developed plot and a more likable West about halfway through the story. Before that point, it was quite easy to walk away from the book and walk away often. However, after about the 50% mark, I felt much more invested in the story as a whole and generally enjoyed it and eventually loving how it ended.
I guess I just feel that in this day and time, with the social climate the way it is, I would have liked to see a little more professionalism and less sexualization of a potential victim than the author gave us in West at the beginning of the story. I could understand a few stray thoughts here and there. But it wasn’t enjoyable reading the continued sexual thoughts he had regarding an obviously lost and hurt young woman. I get chemistry. I get it was hard for him not to view her as a potential bad guy, so to speak. But it all just seemed a little…much.
As I said, though, it turned out to be a lot more enjoyable of a read than what my first impression was. The overall story was redeeming enough that I can’t say I’m never going to read anything else this author writes. I’m always willing to give a new-to-me author more chances to sway me one way or another, so I look forward to seeing what she gives us next.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give Wet and Reckless by Samanthe Beck 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I know what to expect with this author and she doesn't disappoint with this return to Bluelick Kentucky and a romance between small town (former Military) policeman West and new to town musician Roxy. Though their first meeting sets the stage for some awkwardness (Roxy is hitchhiking and West picks her up as she passes out on the side of the road), as does their living arrangement (Roxy ends up rooming in the same house as West) their chemistry is undeniable and a sexy affair ensues. It's just a question of when Roxy's past will catch up with her and whether she chooses to outrun it or face it head on that will determine whether she and West get their happy ending. It was great to see some familiar characters and this was an enjoyable and steamy read.
A copy of this story was provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
West just knows the hitchhiker saw on the side of the road is going to turn his life upside down in ways he moved to Bluelick to avoid. Roxy's pure trouble wrapped up on a gorgeous package. A musician, a waitress, and someone for whom he's falling, quickly. But when Roxy's past comes calling, will she stand firm and stay where she's come to love? Or will she do what she's always done, and run?
This is fun and lighthearted, with a serious dose of chemistry. West and Roxy are a cute couple of opposites with him helping her learn to trust and her helping him to loosen up and have fun. I can't wait to read the next installment of this steamy series.
Ex-Navy Seal and NYPD officer, West Donovan is enjoying small town Bluelick, Kentucky slow pace when he picks up an unusual hitchhiker. Fiesty, down on her luck musician, Roxy Goodhart is on the run from a dirtbag loan shark and hoped to hide out in Bluelick. What Roxy finds is meddling townspeople, honest jobs and the super hot cop West as her neighbor.
There are a bunch of things I liked about this book!
Their chemistry! From their first meeting their chemistry is undeniable! West’s attraction to Roxy, even if he considers her completely reckless with her safety, is adorable. I love how he was always looking out for her - bandaging her foot, getting cameras installed at the bar- but they were in the way to make her life safer, not stifle her creativity. Wet and Reckless has the tropes that I love, opposites attract with a grumpy hero and sunshiney heroine and forced proximity.
The sex: Samantha Beck can write some dirty, sexy, steamy AF scenes and I loved it! There was a great balance of steam to real emotions and creative use of mirrors!
The plot: The plot moved at a great pace. There was time to get invested in West and Roxy’s relationship, see her begin to trust him and build the tension on when Roxy’s past will come back to haunt her. Not rushed but not slow.
I have not read the other books in this series but don’t think you have to to enjoy this one. If you like small town grumpy cops, fiesty heroines, steamy AF sexy times with an easy to follow plot I would definitely recommend Wet and Reckless.
I was gifted an ARC from Entangled Publishing, all opinions are my own.

My rating - ★★½
When Roxy ended up in a small town after the disastrous things she went through, West knew she was a trouble as soon as he saw her. But the instant attraction between them was hard to ignore. Roxy took a job as a waitress to support herself. And her new boss gave her a place to stay which made both Roxy and West neighbors and they shared a laundry room. One thing led to another and soon enough their resistance snapped. They started hooking up. Everything was going so well with their relationship. But Roxy's past caught up with her. Still West and Roxy managed to find their way to each other.
At first, West's thoughts were troubling. But it improved throughout the book. I loved the chemistry between West and Roxy. By the way, I'm only talking about attraction. It was hot! But Roxy was hiding secrets which West figured out by himself before she told him. And West was not understanding at all. But I think the secret Roxy was hiding was not really something severe. She was just a victim. Besides I hate lies in a relationship unless it's absolutely necessary. I like the fact that others characters from the previous three books appeared as well. Lastly, I really hated whenever West called Roxy with the nickname 'Reckless'. It was a turn off. Ugh! It was an okay read. Neither I hated it nor did I love it. Writing style was okay as well.
"Forgiveness has a flavor, Roxy. It tastes like your orgasm sliding like honey down my throat and setting fire to my blood. Are you ready to forgive me?"
What a hot and delicious story about a small town cop and a singer-songwriter on the run from a dishonest ex-manager. It has chemistry in spades between these two characters. Add a mix of small town interesting characters with hearts of gold and you have a great story from Samanthe Beck's very capable pen. I loved every minute of it and can't wait for her next story!
Roxy Goodheart is running away from Nashville and her ex-manager Randy Boudreaux. Randy stole her dad's rare and very valuable Gibson guitar and Roxy stole it back from his uncle's Pawn Shop. Seems Uncle Billy does a lot of business under the table and with a strong arm and Roxy is scared they'll find her. Bluelick cop West Donovan, a former Navy SEAL and NYPD officer picks her up on the side of the road hitchhiking illegally. She promptly passes out in his arms from hunger & heat. He takes her into town to feed her, get her story & encourage her to move on. He gets called away and by the time he gets back she has a job and a place to live. Everyone knows everyone in Bluelick Kentucky and she's now working for Adelaide DeShay at her diner & living in the basement of her rental...where West lives upstairs. West is pretty black & white in his thinking and Roxy lives up to the nickname he gives her Reckless. I really enjoyed how these two ended up giving into their chemistry and finally opening their hearts.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
As a first time reader of Samanthe Beck, I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book not having read any of the others in the series.
Wet & Reckless was an adorable and totally sexy clash of opposing personalities! West, former Navy SEAL and current member of Bluelick PD's finest, is a rule follower through and through (well tbh he breaks plenty of rules in the bedroom, hallelujah)! When West meets Roxy, he's determined not to get caught up in her storm; she might he a total smokeshow but she's also a category 5 hurricane. With her rocky past and the teensiest bit of theft in her rear view, Roxy knows it's in her best interest to steer clear of Mr. Sex on Legs and his badge! But despite all efforts to avoid each other, they end up living on top on one another (ok apartments but still...)and all too often in each other's space. Over time they learn even a rolling stone needs someplace safe to land.
I loved this book. Roxy's funny as hell and her nickname fits her perfectly. She is reckless and despite a few years of being cynical while trying to chase her dreams, she wears her heart on her sleeve. West is sexy as something but also hysterical and a fierce protector. He's cynical in an entirely different way from Roxy. Mostly they just want to belong, they just didn't realize it would be to each other. Awesome story!
4 star review of Wet & Reckless(Private Pleasures #4) by Samantha Beck
Samantha Beck is a new author to me and I am not sure why I have not come across her books before. From the first chapter to the last, I was engaged in the story that Ms.Beck wove set in Bluelick (I just love the name), Kentucky. I love stories set in small towns and this one ticked a lot of boxes for me.
This is former Navy SEAL West Donovan and singer/songwriter Roxy Goodhart’s story. The chemistry between them from their first meeting sizzles. Roxy is trying to keep a low profile, on the run from a loan shark, the last thing she should be is attracted to the local law enforcement officer.
I loved how protective West was towards Roxy, taking care of her when she was injured. As danger rears it’s head and Roxy’s past comes back to haunt her, will West be able to keep her safe? There was suspense, danger, plenty of steam and passion whilst the writing was strong with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
The secondary characters were also entertaining and I will be looking at other books by Ms.Beck when time permits.
This is book four in the Private Pleasures series. I am new to the series and do not feel that this affected my enjoyment of Wet and Reckless.
I have to be honest, it took me a good while to warm up to West, and I really didn't feel good about his perusal of Roxy, an unconscious stranger. At that point I worried that I would not want to carried on, however, I did carry on and I am pleased that I did.
I liked Roxy and wanted nothing but goods things for her. Her unusual upbringing and loss made her both strong, and vulnerable. It was her strength despite her vulnerability that made me root for her. My big criticism of her is that she did seem really young for her age and naive given what she has lived through.
West took a good while to grow on me, but the chemistry between he and Roxy was fun to read and their journey kept me engaged throughout. In the real world they just seem too different from each other, but in this story it worked.
Thank you to Greys Promotions for providing me with a review copy of Wet and Reckless. The gifting of the book did not influence this review.
Wet and Reckless is a quick, fun story to read with lots of sass and steam. We have shenanigans and a secret in a small town romance! A cop, West, and aspiring singer Roxy, running from trouble, meet as she is hitchhiking during a rainstorm. We have a romance or a country song in the making. I loved the dialog and the romance. I hope to get back to Bluelick, KY, soon.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What can go wrong meeting someone on the side of the road after your car breaks down?
Well, if you are Roxy and the police officer who stops to help you is West, the real question is what can go right?
This book was fun, it had a connection with the characters, and it was really sexy. Sometimes, what you want in a book is a fun escape and a chance to read a story that you will enjoy, and this book was it.
I received an eARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book was decent. Very sexy scenes but the fact that the conflict could have been resolved by a quick conversation between the main characters was to frustrating for me to fully enjoy the book.
I loved reading West and Roxy's story. I love the banter between these two. I could feel the tension coming off the page and the chemistry between West and Roxy was off the charts. I also loved their back story and I wanted them to find their HEA. Love the town of Bluelick and want more!
This was a super fun and steamy opposites attract romance! Fourth in a series, but it stands alone perfectly!
Former Navy SEAL, and current cop in the small town of Bluelick, Kentucky, West Donovan sees things in black and white. There's not much room for gray, or extenuating circumstances, in his world. He's a rule follower and expects others to follow suit. So, when wild, hitchhiking Roxy blows into town, he doesn't really know what to make of her, or how she makes him feel. He's hoping she passes through town quickly, and he doesn't really have to explore any of these strange new feelings.
Roxy Goodhart is looking for a place to belong. Unfortunately, she arrived in Bluelick about 6 months too late to meet her long, lost grandmother. She grew up on the road with her musical parents, and she's an aspiring singer/songwriter herself. But, she left Nashville in a hurry, after stealing back the guitar that was stolen from her by her lying, thief of a "manager." She's making the best of a bad situation, and trying to hitchhike the last leg into Bluelick, when a patrol car stops and the wildly attractive Officer Donovan gets out. What's a down-on-her-luck girl to do in such a predicament? Get away from him as fast as possible, obviously!
West and Roxy had wildly hot chemistry from that first interaction, even though they both had great, and numerous, reasons to ignore it. Their back-and-forth dance kept me on my toes, and their banter was so fun, and funny. I adored watching them figure each other out, and themselves in the process. Being a person with her absolute opposite for a husband, I totally got the appeal of their situation.
The town of Bluelick was a delight, and I loved all the side characters we met here. This was the first book I've read in this series, but I'm so intrigued by the other couples in town, that I'll definitely be revisiting Bluelick in the near future! I also fell in love with the diner owner, Addy, and I hope we'll be getting her story in the future! Additionally, there was a brief scene of two young officers who will be going undercover together, and I will definitely be looking for their story too! There seems to be a bit of a mystery plot, that I assume will be ongoing, as it was not solved in this story. That threw me a bit, but I'm very interested to see how that plays out!
This was a story of two very different people, who had been through a lot in their lives, coming together to make each other's hearts complete. I really fell in love with both West and Roxy, as well as them together as a couple. I was so excited to have a new book by this author, and I can't wait for more!!

Woran lag es also? Vielleicht sollte man meine Meinung hier einfach ignorieren.
Samanthe Beck sizzles up the pages with her latest contemporary romance set in sleepy Bluelick, Kentucky: Wet and Reckless.
Roxy Goodhart is an aspiring singer and songwriter who has had a run of bad luck lately. Having ventured to Bluelick, Kentucky, Roxy hopes to lay low and not draw much attention to herself while she rebuilds her severely depleted LA or bust fund. The small town of Bluelick will surely not offer much in the way of excitement, but Roxy hadn’t counted on arriving in the middle of a storm and collapsing in the strong – and muscular – arms of Officer West Donovan…
Former Navy SEAL West had traded high stakes missions for small town Kentucky. After the many challenges of his previous career, West had been craving peace, quiet and serenity which the town of Bluelick offers in spades – until Roxy Goodhart rocks up in town and ends up turning his ordered world on its head! Roxy’s arrival in town has made West feel things he hadn’t felt in a long time and he plans to give her as wide a berth as possible. However, that quickly proves to be far easier said than done..
With fate keen to throw the two of them in one another’s path, it’s not long before the two of them find themselves giving into temptation. But with West firmly settled in Bluelick and Roxy’s life in LA, will they find a way to make their relationship work? Or is a future out of the question for the two of them?
Wet and Reckless is a delicious opposites attract romance where the chemistry between the two characters is absolutely electric, the humor comes thick and fast and the sensuality and sizzle will have readers reaching for a long tall glass of iced water!
Samanthe Beck’s writing is sharp and sassy and her characters are well rounded and so beautifully realized that readers simply cannot help but care for them and fall in love with them. West and Roxy are smart, intelligent, flawed and believable characters readers will thoroughly enjoy spending time with.
Fun, flirty and fabulous, Samanthe Beck’s Wet and Reckless is a terrific contemporary romance that should not be missed.

West and Roxy do not start off on the right foot. There is an instant attraction between them but their different lifestyles constantly puts them at odds. Originally they tried to stay far away from each other but circumstances stances kept them way to close for comfort and constantly crossing paths. When they finally connect it is explosive, but Roxy's past and West's need to follow the law constantly puts a wedge between them. The question is will there growing connection be enough to overcome what is coming their way. Or will it get in the way of Roxy's dreams.
This is my first book by this author. While the writing style was fine, the book started off a little slow and dragged at times. There were times I laughed out loud and there were times I became emotional. Overall this book is a 4 star for me. Some parts I wanted more while others I wanted less. One thing for sure is I will go back to read books 1-3 to see how the other characters got together.
