After Lucifer’s disturbing visit, the quest to destroy the Blight takes on a desperate urgency.
Finding Lieutenant Edward Charters is paramount.
But what role does a mortal man play in Seraphiel’s dangerous game?
The angel has sent Pitch a talisman from beyond the grave, a seemingly innocuous watch that may be the key to ending the Watcher King’s dark legacy. But to learn its secret Pitch and Silas must find the man intended to carry it.
As the search for the lieutenant begins, the Horsemen find themselves gifted with something more precious than any angelic token. An evening of unexpected freedom. A night that will deepen their intimacy and bring long-stifled feelings to the fore.

The Morrigan have not forgiven the destruction at the greensward. They are prepared to do whatever it takes to rid themselves of the Horsemen and heed the Watcher King's ghostly call.
The Fulbourn is Pitch and Silas's greatest threat yet. A place that will drive them into the depths of their most terrible fears and seek to tear them apart.
They are closer than ever before but will that fragile new bond be enough to save them? Or have the daemon prince and his ankou found the nemesis that will destroy them once and for all?
The Diabolus Chronicles is a slow-burn MM Gaslamp Fantasy series that contains on-page sex scenes, gore and violence, and rather a lot of cursing.
This is the fifth book in the on-going series.
**Reader Note - This book contains mention of a previous sexual assault (The Greensward), and suggestion of sexual assault. (No on-page depiction)
This one felt like it drug along in places. I skimmed some stuff. In all fairness to the book it might have been cuz I was on a plane surrounded by screaming kids & was struggling to concentrate.
The romance part though was top notch. I love these two together
Another successful quest! I love Pitch & Sickle more and more with each book (this is seriously an underrated series). I have reading them too fast, I might be able to wait a bit to read book 6 because book 7 comes out in December. But there is no date for book 8, the finale! I remember the time were I refused to read books if the series wasn't' all the way out, I should've gone back to that for this book.
I don’t know how I lost track of this series. Well yes. I do know actually. I read so much its super easy for me to lose track of series without proper organization. I’ve recently started using a Notion table (glorified excel spreadsheet) to keep track of all of this. Randomly it was not that which helped me return to this series, it was an author newsletter.
I started this series more than a year ago. I read the first 4 books in quick succession. They are just that good. This is book 5. And the slow burn between Sickle and Pitch that made up most of the first three – four books is an inferno. They don’t hold back with each other anymore. They both acknowledge that the other is a very special person to them.
The plot develops further. Pitch needs to find his former lover Edward as he plays an unknown part is stopping the Blight. Charlie has gone missing too and the Order believes they may be together. Pitch and Sickle must navigate a particularly treacherous insane asylum to rescue the pair and find out exactly how Edward can help the Order.
The story and writing, as always, is excellent. The chemistry between Pitch and Sickle is smoking hot. And all the ancillary characters are entertaining and have distinctive personalities. It was not hard to get sucked back into the story. A solid 4.75, rounded to a 5.
Favorite Quote: “It is always the weak who suffer when the strong make mistakes, Silas, “she said “You’d do well to remember that.”
Ankou and Daemon are back for another adventure. This one the most dangerous of all, they are searching for Edward and Charlie and the hunt takes them on their deadliest adventure to date.
This is the book I’ve been waiting for. No spoilers so not much I can reveal except Pitch and Sickle finally get some happiness.
I know there’s to be another book in the series but this one kind of felt final. The action was hectic at times. One revelation after another really ramped up the storytelling. Very well done.

The Pitch and Sickle fantasy series is just amazing. The world building is just so incredible. The characters are so well-written and the overarching plot is riveting.
At long last there is some payoff for the very drawn out M-M romance between our MCs! The paranoramal alt-universe world building continues to be well done and of course every type of 'horror' should be expected once our MCs get drawn into the bowels of a
Lucky enough to read this instalment as an ARC reader and I have to say this one is by far my favourite - have loved them all but I love loved this one! Book 5 has a bit of everything - old and new characters, love and lust, blood and gore, humour and raw emotion - plus it’s set in some of the coolest places you could set dark storytelling! Half glad of the wait for Book 6 cause I feel as exhausted as these guys must be!
This is my first ARC, and I couldn’t have asked for a better book for that honor. I feel like each book in this series is better than the last, and The Fulbourn, for me, was the best yet. This story was epic in every way, and had me desperately devouring the pages.
This is the book Pitch & Sickle fans have been waiting for! So many questions were answered (although several new ones were created, of course), and there was so much more development of the blossoming relationship between our two foolish and unlikely heroes. Their hard-won romance is one for the ages, and this book left me breathless with it.
This installment is filled with action, suspense, and more than a little terror (and teratisms, of course). Our favorite side characters fill the story out, but the Fulbourn is very much a book dedicated to the lengths Pitch & Sickle will go for each other. Though heartbreaking and torturous at times, we are given many heartwarming and intimate moments to help ease the pain.
My partner said I either had a “glorious smile” or a “very worried look” plastered on my face as I devoured this book in a span of 24 hours. I was voracious and refused to succumb to real life as I was transported by the author into their world. Now that I have my feet firmly back in my own life after finishing the book (and re-reading some choice passages!), I find myself wishing I could read it fresh all over again and experience all of the wonderful feelings it gave me as I read it. I can’t even remember the last book that left me feeling this way, if there even is one.
I fiercely adore Tobias & Silas. I will be counting down the days until their next adventure finds it’s way to my Kindle. Until then, I’ll have to make due with re-reading a few parts of this book that left me warmed to my core & grinning like a fool in love (…or two fools).
Do yourself a favor and grab The Bandalore, Book 1, if you haven’t already. You’ve got time to catch up before The Fulbourn’s release on October 20th!
Where to start? I loved this book for so many different reasons. As someone who’s watched Pitch and Sickle’s journeys from the beginning (gentle hint here to readers that if they haven’t already started with previous books in the series, it’s a good idea–and a true pleasure– to do so) this book had so many things I’d been wanting to see. Long held questions are answered, and, of course, new ones posed. There’s intrigue and action and machinations and magic and plenty of peril, be it emotional, physical, spiritual, and/or all three combined. There’s also, and I admit I’d been pining more than a bit for this, genuine progress in our protagonists’ relationship. It’s a mark of how easy it is to invest in Silas and Tobias, as individuals and a partnership, that I wanted them to have hundreds of moments that are sweet and hot and healing for them both: we don’t quite get that many, but there are a precious few and they’re more than enough to enrich the narrative and offset a bit of the darkness and pressure these two face (checks notes…constantly…) Each book in this series has pulled me in deeper than the last, and in the process of reading each one I’m sure it’s my favorite so far…which means now I’m waiting with baited breath for book 6 to appear. Well worth a read.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
After receiving a visit from Lucifer, Silas and Tobias understand their mission has become critical. Finding Lieutenant Edward Charters is first on the list. Not sure what a mortal has to do with anything, a watch may be the key to finding him. On his trail, the two find some time for pleasure but the cost is unclear for not following their duty. Soon the two find themselves in an untenable position where they are both challenged to such great depths neither man will be the same.
These two continually test their relationship and somehow come out not quite intact but still ready for more after a bit of a rest. They find themselves drawn to each other more and more and each gives the other something they truly need. It is amazing watching them grow closer and finally realizing what each means to the other. Their mission to overcome the Morrigan and the Watcher King continues with weird violence and a variety of creatures. Silas manages to obtain a few creatures that only answer to him. These two are incredible and you cannot help but route for them to win. The next book should bring more revelations and additional trying situations. Fortunately, they have picked up the usual and unusual help. It should make for captivating reading.
I’m excited to say I’ve been lucky enough to read the arc of book 5 Fulbourn. Where we continue with Silas and Tobias’s adventures and seeing them getting into trouble as usual!
Silas… the gentle giant is not to be messed with. He has come so far from the confused and slightly terrified Ankou we saw in book one. Each instalment we see him grow and become more confident in him self, his abilities and even the love he has for Tobias. I love how he understands Tobias’s limits and idiosyncrasies. Never pushing him beyond his comfort, but still encourages him to be cared for- something Pitch finds difficult.
Pitch- seems to be able to express himself more fully in this instalment. Circumstances allowing him to be him self- if only for a short time before it all goes wrong!
They have their 🥵 moment- in a theatre balcony..which is the first time these two get truly intimate without the emotional obstacles and barriers Tobias puts up to protect himself.
The story is intense and our heroes are put through their paces … It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger- but the scene is set for book 6. Which can’t come quick enough.
When compared to the others in the series, I think The Fulbourn is the best. To put it mildly, I devoured these pages with a ferocity befitting an epic tale. Pitch & Sickle readers, this is the book you've been waiting for! There was a lot of development of the growing friendship between our two bumbling and unlike protagonists, and many questions were resolved and, of course, some new ones were generated. Theirs is a love story for the ages, earned after much struggle, and it blew my mind in this novel. Action, suspense, and even a little bit of dread dominate this edition . Even while the Fulbourn features many of our favorite supporting characters, it is ultimately a narrative about how far Pitch and Sickle will go for each other. While there are certainly painful and upsetting parts, there are also many tender and personal ones that help lessen the suffering. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
This book is intense and compelling and just so emotional (or maybe that was me). To be honest, this series was hard to get into, and the first two books were kind of so-so for me, but it has been like a snowball rolling downhill, with the story picking up depth and speed and intensity with each successive book, and the last one (Greensward) and this one were just...wow. It's hard to express the depth of feeling and emotion I feel for Pitch and Sickle and what they are having to go through. I love the increasing depth and intensity of the relationship between them. The world-building, character development, and growth of the MCs and the story are phenomenal. Epic is not a strong enough word to describe it. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting the next (and I believe final) book in the series.
I highly recommend the series (even with the slow start), and note that the books must be read in order.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
DK Girl lulled me in with a sweet beginning and then almost tore me apart as the story went on. I barely survived this one, folks. But it was so good and heart-wrenching and vividly described, like all the other books in the series. DK Girl is a master at imagery, metaphor and simile. What an emotional and action-packed read! I will be adding the paperback to my collection once it is released on October 20th.
Pitch really came into his own and I will love him always. Points for him not being fond of children and always irritated.
I was lucky enough to have been given a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Another amazing adventure for our boys. Just when we think they might get a quite and private moment to themselves, the worlds contrive to separate and destroy them. Both will learn more of what is inside them, their history and their strengths. But both will be pushed beyond anything they have endured before. This book in the Diabolus Chronicles is as skillfully written as the four that precede it. The authors attention to detail is astounding, the language full and rich with descriptions of colours and textures and emotions. The direst of situation is randomly interspersed for the reader by the authors wicked sense of humour. Another sensation book from Danielle K. Girl.
I am a big fan of the Pitch & Sickle series and I think "The Fulbourn" is now my favorite in the series. Everything from the continued expanding of the world they live in to the relationship between Pitch and Silas. The storyline had me continually guessing with what was going to happen next. Led to some nights of staying up and reading entirely too late and paying for it the next day at work. Not to mention that Pitch and Silas are finally starting to realize what they mean to each other. I can't wait to see what happens between them and their adventures next. Looking forward to the next in the series!
I had to wait a bit after finishing this book before I could write a review because I needed the story to settle in my brain. This book is very intense as it continues the story of Pitch and Sickle and all the characters around them. The slow burn attraction between them definitely advances more in this volume than the previous ones and the overall story advances as well. This story is feeling more and more epic as it goes along.
This is the continuation of the story of Ankou and Daemon, it is the 5th book in the Diabolus Chronicles. Please read the trigger warnings. I loved this book, it is raw and gritty, the emotion jumps of the pages. You are taken on a haunting, dangerous and action packed adventure. Loved the steamy moments. Definitely recommended.
I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.
By the gods, Danielle K. Girl has me trapped with Pitch and Silas, and all the other eclectic characters in this delightful and dark world. The Fulbourn is a wild ride - full of passion, humour, and non-stop action. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for their next adventures. (Although, I think I'm also dreading it, as it's looking like a dark road ahead for Pitch and Silas). Excellent read! One of those 'can't put it down' books.
Thank you sweet baby Jesus- we’ve finally hit our stride. This series has confounded me at times but I’m all in. Pitch and Sickle have faced so many odds (several due to their own idiocy) and they continue to come out stronger each time. Their relationship that felt like it took years to develop is now strong as hell. I love how close they are and I am hoping there really will be a HEA for them. I can’t wait for the next book!
Each step of Sickle and Pitch's journey has so many twists and turns that continue to ensnare me, each book just draws me in deeper. I absolutely fantastic continuation of this highly enjoyable series. I really recommend reading the previous books first because not one moment of their journey is to be missed.

The Fulbourn is the fifth book in the Pitch & Sickle series. A visit with Lucifer had Silas and Tobias understanding their mission. The story kept me glued to the pages. I have seriously loved this whole series, the world building is phenomenal. It’s full of suspense and action with a sweet slowburn. Overall, a fantastic addition and I can’t wait for the next
This installment has me on edge, starting with disguise, Silas and Pitch get some decent quality time just to find themselves at the mercy of their enemies. Trying to maneuver a deadly maze, while searching for Both Charlie and Edward, all the whole being hunted they are forced to make sacrifices for the other. Thrilling, dark and heartbreakingly romantic, another beautifully written tale!!
He has come to call and he’ll is going to follow him. There will be soon on the hunt for a man to carry the watch but it is not going to be easy to find them. How will they find him? Where will they find him? Can he do what is required of him? See just where this tale will take you
Mostly quite good and action packed, but the baddies did the whole talk about how evil they are and how much they’ll enjoy killing Pitch and Sickle, but then they just..didn’t. Still enjoyable, though so I guess there’s that.
This book continues the story of Pitch and Sickle and all the characters around them. Their slow burn attraction between them, advances more in this book than the previous ones.
I had a very difficult time putting this book Down just to go to bed. It propels you through the darkness just to make sure Pitch and Sickle survive this horrendous and torturous ordeal!
I really loved the cantankerous yet believable relationship between the two main characters and how well the companions all molded together for strength.
