The Fulbourn (Pitch & Sickle, #5)

I don’t know how I lost track of this series. Well yes. I do know actually. I read so much its super easy for me to lose track of series without proper organization. I’ve recently started using a Notion table (glorified excel spreadsheet) to keep track of all of this. Randomly it was not that which helped me return to this series, it was an author newsletter.
I started this series more than a year ago. I read the first 4 books in quick succession. They are just that good. This is book 5. And the slow burn between Sickle and Pitch that made up most of the first three – four books is an inferno. They don’t hold back with each other anymore. They both acknowledge that the other is a very special person to them.
The plot develops further. Pitch needs to find his former lover Edward as he plays an unknown part is stopping the Blight. Charlie has gone missing too and the Order believes they may be together. Pitch and Sickle must navigate a particularly treacherous insane asylum to rescue the pair and find out exactly how Edward can help the Order.
The story and writing, as always, is excellent. The chemistry between Pitch and Sickle is smoking hot. And all the ancillary characters are entertaining and have distinctive personalities. It was not hard to get sucked back into the story. A solid 4.75, rounded to a 5.
