She’s undercover and in over her head…

When FBI analyst Tara Jacobs’ fellow agent and best friend goes missing while investigating a sex ring, Tara goes undercover as a submissive in a Dallas BDSM club called Dominion. But no man can top a woman with Tara’s moxie convincingly enough—until an edgy, dangerous Dom takes control of the scene and sets her heart racing with a single, commanding glance. Too bad he’s also the man who stole her innocence years ago—and the one to whom she will never submit.

He’s got everything under control…until he falls for her again.

Navy SEAL Logan Edgington once left the woman he loved to save her life. He knows Tara will never forgive him, but he has no doubt that he possesses the knowledge to master her fears and the strength to guide her through an unfamiliar world of pleasure and pain. He alone can protect her on a dangerous mission that reveals both wicked depravities and terrible secrets. Logan relishes the exquisite torture of holding her again, feeling her uninhibited response. No matter how much Tara insists their fling will end after this mission, he’s determined that she will be his again—and this time, he’ll never let her go.

She'd never required someone for her next breath the way she did Logan in that moment. God, she'd been hoping to bring them both closure, but now he felt like a part of her... so necessary to her existence.
Finally! Finally!! I was beginning to think it would never happen in the Wicked Lovers series, but Shayla Black finally gave me a heroine who was completely and totally worthy of the hero! Sure, Tara had her moments of insecurity and doubt, but she didn’t have those gawd awful annoying, “I belong to no man…” yadda, yadda, yadda, moments that the women in the previous books had. She’s an intelligent woman who, when she started having doubts about him, took the time to think things through and was willing to give Logan a chance to prove or explain himself. She was secure enough in herself and her abilities that she didn’t have to fight him at every opportunity to prove she was as smart, or as strong, or as capable as anyone else. Can I just tell you how refreshing that is, especially in this series?

And Logan. Wow…
"I'll try to keep my inner caveman at bay..."
Hey, baby, don't hold back on my account! Just sayin'...

So, anyway, I had no idea I’d love Logan as much as I do. Alpha? Oh, yeah! But not stupidly so. He was able to see and appreciate Tara’s abilities and while he absolutely wanted to protect her, he didn’t smother her. And his unconditional love felt so real to me.

The bottom line - Belong to Me had action, romance, holy hell hot BDSM scenes and a hero and heroine I could actually care about. The only thing missing was Jack (*sigh*) Cole. Despite some eye rolling moments and twists that felt somewhat forced, my faith has been restored in this series and I can’t wait for the next book, Mine to Hold, when we finally get – THANK YOU, SHAYLA BLACK – Tyler’s story!!!

Despite the heavy BDSM theme (not really my cuppa), I rather enjoyed this book--especially after they left the hero's 'dungeon' (or training room).

Logan Edgington is a Navy SEAL on leave for a few weeks. While on leave he likes to spend time at Dallas's private BDSM club, Dominion. He's a Dom and he likes his women submissive. Logan hasn't had sex for the last 5 years--he's been hung up over his high school love Tara (or "Cherry", as he likes to call her). So while he may be 'playing' at Club Dominion, he's not going 'all the way' with his subs--he leaves that to his 'clean-up man' and good buddy, Xander (this guy needs a book of his own).

Twelve years ago, 16-year-old Tara Jacobs was living a dream...which then ended in a nightmare. Studious Tara was dating high school jock Logan, and she had just surrendered her virginity to him. All was right in her world, until Logan's mother was killed, and then he pushed Tara away, breaking her young heart. She never got over their breakup, feeling humiliated and angered. Years passed, Tara moved on and became an FBI agent to please her stepfather (retired agent), and tried to put Logan out of her mind. She even became engaged to a man who didn't really excite her, but one she thought she could count on. Then she got her first field assignment. Her fellow agent and friend Darcy had gone undercover at a BDSM club where subs were being kidnapped and sold to foreign billionaires with some mighty kinks. But Darcy hasn't been heard from, and the fear is that her cover's been blown and she's either dead or on the selling block. Tara will do anything to save her friend, even if it means that she will now have to go undercover at the same club to save her. But before she can do that, she'll need some training as a submissive. The FBI gets cooperation from the club owner of Dominion, who will provide one of their Doms to train Tara so she can pass convincingly as a sub. And guess who gets the assignment? Her old friend Logan...

Okaaay...if BDSM is your thing, you're going to love this book. If it's not, you're going to have to hang in there for about half the book because that's about as long as it takes to get things rolling towards Tara going undercover. Don't get me wrong, bootylicious Tara and talented tongue Logan were hot together, but the BDSM stuff just isn't for me. Luckily Logan wasn't into anything degrading or painful (no welts), just your standard kink. And Tara (who according to her FBI profile had 'submissive' tendencies--that's how she got the assignment) was a willing sub. Of course it took Logan what seemed like forever to finally tell Tara the real reason he broke up with her (), and once he did, she put her hatred of him behind her and started warming up to him again. But she was still afraid to trust him totally. So Logan spends a lot of time in this one working on Tara's trust, because by God he's NOT going to lose her again! But when Tara finally goes undercover to the Florida club where all the sex trafficking is happening, she's got a killer on her tail--could this killer be connected to Logan's mother's murder AND the disappearance of these submissive women?

I really liked Logan. Yes, he was persistent, possessive and a little bossy, but he was totally hung up on Tara (just wait until she finds out about his tattoos), willing to do anything for her. So he was a little kinky in the bedroom...which was okay, since she turned out to be that way too! Logan was a sweetheart dom.:)

I liked Tara too. I could understand her hesitation to totally trust Logan (there was a third party with a lot of influence who constantly undermined him to her). And the things she had to do for this assignment (excluding her private time in Logan's dungeon)? That's dedication to your job! I do like how she became a kick-ass heroine in the nail biting conclusion too.

The suspense? Not that suspenseful--I think I had it all figured out within a few chapters. The suspense was all about when/how Tara and Logan would put all the pieces together and find the link between the present and their past.

This book can easily be read as a stand alone, even though it is part of a series. Logan happens to be the brother of Kimber (Decadent) and Hunter (Surrender to Me) and both make brief appearances in the story.

So enter Logan's dungeon, if you dare, and enjoy as Logan and Tara 'train' and rekindle an old flame. And please, Shayla Black, won't you please give the mysterious Xander his own book? 4 1/2 stars

Warning: This book contains explicit sex (both oral and anal); graphic language; a leather-clad, dominating hero, some spanking of the heroine's generous booty, and exhibitionism. Not for the faint of heart.

Holy shit!!!

well, what other books from this series didn't do for me, this one pulled it off just fine!

and hello, Logan...

my Chesire cat grin is back on (I can't help it)

won't say much further but I'll give a full display on what's going on through my head after reading this by Adam Lambert's song

For your entertainment:
"So hot out of the box, Can we pick up the pace
Turn it up, heat it up, I need to be entertained
Push the limit, are you with it?
Baby don't be afraid, Imma hurt you real good baby

Let's go it's my show, baby, do what I say
Don't trip off the glitz that I'm gonna display
I told you, Imma hold ya down until you're amazed
Give it to ya til you're screamin' my name

No escaping when I start,
Once I'm in I own your heart
There's no way you'll ring the alarm,
So hold on until it's over

Oh! Do you know what you got into,
Can you handle what I'm 'bout to do
'Cause it's about to get rough for you,
I'm here for your entertainment

Oh! I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet,
You thought an angel swept you off your feet
But I'm about to turn up the heat,
I'm here for your entertainment

'Sall right, You'll be fine
Baby I'm in control
Take the pain, Take the pleasure
I'm the master of both
Close your eyes, not your mind
Let me into your soul,
I'm gonna work it 'til you're totally blown

No escaping when I start,
Once I'm in I own your heart
There's no way you'll ring the alarm,
So hold on 'til it's over..."

And you can repeat the chorus by yourself...over and over and over again...

I'm already left hot and bothered while challenging my own personal bounderies...
Damn!

3 ½-4 stars – BDSM/Erotic Romantic Suspense

I’m really disappointed to say this, but the Wicked Lovers series has fizzled out a bit and lost some steam with me. Although I liked this and it’s infinitely better than Surrender to Me, it still wasn’t near the level of the first two books, Wicked Ties and Decadent. Or maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for it? Hmmm...not sure, but here are some random thoughts.

The H/h?

I liked Logan, but his obsession, oh I’m sorry...enduring love...*eye roll*, with his “Cherry” was a little fanciful and ridiculous at times. I mean come on, Yet we’re supposed to believe he’s so completely head over leathers in love with Cherry/Tara that he’d live to be an old man, still celibate, using his walking stick for a cane to paddle subs asses, and pining for her forever if she refuses him? Riiight! LMAO! But he was still yummy as sin in all his brooding, growly, besotted, dominating, possessive, and stalkerish glory, so whatever.

On the other hand, Tara’s insecure, wishy-washy back and forth between lust, anger, mistrust, adoration, resentment, denial, and submission gave me whiplash. And even though it’s understandable that her past hurt and heartbreak made her wary and doubtful of Logan’s sincerity, she still annoyed me.

The sex? Spank me baby!

The suspense? *Eye roll* The suspense part of the story was rather disappointing. The plot was too predictable (I figured everything out from the very beginning), convenient, and so far-fetched that it bordered on silly.

Overall this is a smokin’ hot read and certainly an improvement from Surrender to Me, but it’s not my favorite Wicked Lovers story. The excerpt of Mine to Hold definitely has me intrigued, so consider me still hooked on the series. 3 ½-4 stars.

BTW, Does anyone know if she’s planning to write Xander’s and/or Thorpe’s stories at some point?

5++ stars!

With an opening line such as this, I knew that Logan would capture my heart.

THWACK! Logan Edgington smacked the submissive’s reddening ass in time with the dark beat of the old-school Depeche Mode tunes pounding through his dungeon at Club Dominion. Clenching his jaw, he curled his palm into a fist, ten shook out the sting.

When we last saw Logan in Surrender to Me, he was the tortured younger brother of Hunter, the one with the sexual hang ups. During five years of self-imposed celibacy, Logan exercises his needs at Club Dominion, a BDSM private club where subs come to him to be dominated, hoping to be the special one that ends his string of lonely nights. Black dives straight into Logan’s backstory, showing a sixteen year old Logan falling in love for the first time with a sweet redhead named Tara Jacobs. With his mother’s murder looming over his shoulders and threats to harm Tara if he stays close to her, young Logan gives up his heart to save Tara’s life.

Hit the fast-forward button and twelve years later, Logan finds the sassy redhead in his territory. Tara is now an FBI agent going on her first field assignment as an undercover cop trying to take down a sex ring operation. Her friend and fellow agent, Darcy has been captured, leaving just a week before she will be sent out of the country where she will never be seen again. Tara has just seven days to explore her submissive side and get her friend back.

Belong to Me is definitely my favourite of the Wicked Lovers series so far. With the perfect balance between romance and suspense, I found myself reading slower and slower to savor the moment. Simply put, Logan was a dream and I never wanted to wake up...

Black clearly has outdone herself with Logan’s book. This series is known for its seriously scorching hot sex scenes, but Logan brought in so much more. If the sex didn’t get your blood pumping (of course, it will. It’s LOGAN!), then the suspense subplot will. Black infuses passionate lovemaking with raw, dirty mating that is so hot, you’ll require frequent breaks.

Belong to Me is one of the best books I’ve read this year. With edge-of –your-seat action in and out of the dungeon, Black continues to write some of the finest erotica romance stories out there and is definitely making herself comfortable in every erotica romance fan’s bookshelf, including mine.

2/9/2013: I received a comment on my review (on Another site) that this book is now $13! I'm not surprised that Penguin has decided to raise the price of this e-book by $3 because of a little something I call Penguinomics.

Anyway, as a result of this information, I feel I must exhort my fellow readers not to buy this e-book. If you are curious about it, "borrow" it from a friend or library. The book is honestly, pretty awful (and I felt that way long before I learned how much Penguin sucks, I promise).

I have a dear friend whose favorite genre is BDSM/erotica and she rated this book at 5 stars (I love you, M, but I can't see it). It's possible based on comments I received on Another site that if one reads the other books of the series first, this one is more tolerable somehow.

Here's my original review:

I wish this book didn't belong to me.

I finished this book, but there were moments I wanted it to be over. I don't usually cross over to suspense/thriller plot lines, so it could just be me, but I didn't enjoy this story. I will try to explain why because I feel I must warn those who hate shelling out $10 bucks for an ebook to begin with.

First, the emotions seemed all wrong. For example, the hero had little to no emotion or upset after finding his mother murdered. He actually went to school the next morning and had a stronger response to his girlfriend not showing up for class than having lost his mom in a horrific manner just hours prior. It struck me as so odd and pulled me out of the story every time something reminded me of it. There were no police mentioned, no description of his father's response, etc.

Second, I became a little frustrated at the heroine's willingness to have submissive sexual encounters with strangers (as an FBI assignment *uh huh*), but her subsequent unwillingness to actually behave submissively.

Also, I couldn't grasp the hero's celibacy in light of his well-used "playroom". I mean I get what the author is trying to do, but it didn't work for me.

And finally, one last gripe: I just couldn't get the depth of emotion triggered by the tattoos. I knew I was supposed to have a much stronger response, but it fell flat and seemed corny. There were some interesting ideas here that were not well executed. I really like the sensual scene at the end of the story, but I can't recommend this book based on that alone. Oh, and did I mention the just-so-happens-coinky-dinky at the end that just could not possibly be based in reality? My fragile suspension of disbelief fell like a brick onto my brain.

So the bottom line is, I can overlook shoddy storylines for great characters or intense dynamics or even a cheaper price, but alas, it isn't here. I recommend you just say no to this one.

This is book 5 in the "Wicked Lovers" series. This is the hottest book in this series I think out of all the books in this series this is my favorite one Logan loved Tara and he would have did anything to keep her safe. This book had some of everything in it murder mystery and it also had love and a dominate man will to do anything to make the person he love see it I love this book. Logan is a dominant who is on a self imposed sex band because he is unable to get over his high school girl friend that he had to break up with because of a threat to her life. Tara who is now a FBI agent, is working a sex slave auction case. Apparently while working undercover as a Submissive a female agent has gone missing. Tara and her partner need to be trained in all phases of the BDSM world. Logan is a bit apprehensive but completely willing to put Tara through her paces. Seeing Logan again after all these years sets Tara on edge. However she can't completely deny the attraction that is still there. When Tara's partner can't cut it as her Dom Logan is drafted for the job. While training with Logan Tara finds all the walls that she had built up slowly coming down. She is no wilting flower and is ready willing and able to do whatever is necessary to succeed at this assignment her first one in the field. Logan couldn't be happier to have another shot at Tara. He has to make her understand all the reasons behind his sudden departure from her life. After getting a lead on the whereabouts of the missing agent, Tara and Logan head for Fantasy Key a super exclusive BDSM club in The Keys. While playing a couple Tara and Logan have to keep one step ahead of the club's head Dom and elusive owner because one false move could be permanently damaging. When Tara has to make a decision between following her heart or following her head, will her decision cost her a renewed love for Logan or her life? This is one of my favorite books Logan loves Tara and has loved her for years and will do anything to keep her and this book introduced Xander hot rich and dominant.

Very dissapointed with this book. It's books like this, that give woman the false impression that anyone can be a Dom. Doms are different men. Cant write for female doms. But Logan even though he has ten years experience, needed to step back on this one. What he went through is actually true, not all doms have sex with there subs. Its about alot more then sex.

He thought the entire time with his dick. Doms do not. Doms are men who study and have studied woman for many years. Almost an obsession. Wanting to delve into the female mindset. Not necessarily her panties.

A Dom (at least from the good ones) spends alot of time asking questions. When Thorne "handed" Tara over a file would have been handed over as well. First few "interviews" are done clothed and alot of questions are asked. And no, a Sub doesn't start out naked. The Dom needs time to figure out her wardrobe.

I tried to keep in mind that they had limited time. But she could have been "trained" without the sex, or the nudity.

Plus a Dom at least a responsible one would not have thrown together something. He should have spent time writing or thinking out scenarios. SAFETY is sacrosanct. Did they check her arms, wrists, ankles to see if the ties were going wrong while they played sex games with her? no. Too busy playing sex games. That is not playing. Safety in these situations is sacrosanct. I don't know how to stress this. Rope play is an artform. The Dom trains for many years. Plus they never discussed it. Did it turn her on, is this a secret fantasy? Anything could go wrong. Subs have been lit on fire by untrained and foolish Doms.

All woman have submissive tendencies its part of our genetic makeup. But. Not all need this type of play. Naked subs strolling around is a rarety, because there bodies are precious and the outfits rock!! The only real sounding Dom was the one in the park. They plan things sometimes months before they happen. But giving sex to the Sub? Especially one who dissapointed. NOT!! Sex is the greatest reward not given freely. Rarely does a sub see her doms dick, let alone be allowed to touch it. I think Doms are short changed in this type of book as well as the sub. Tara became the whore, as her so called "Dom" tried to get her to either fall back in love with Him, or renew whatever she felt. Sad. The experience of play really is more interesting to read, then this. Not to mention a true Doms mindset.

Sensual. Erotic. Sinful. Wicked. This book is all that and then some. Ms. Black met and exceeded all my expectations of Logan Edgington (a.k.a. MY future husband)! And let me tell you, they were pretty high.

From the first page this book grabbed my attention and didn't lose it. Well, with the occasional required break for food or sleep that is. But of course, even then, all I could think about was Logan; all I would dream about was Logan. And how could I not? The man is perfect. He is seriously everything I want! The beautiful blue eyes, the Dom voice, the lickable tats, the maddening skills this man has to twist a woman around his finger. I would be at his feet!

Watch out Jack Cole, there's a new Dom in town and I think I can safely say that if I had my choice, I'd want Logan! *gasp* Yes! Ladies and ... well... ladies, Jack Cole has been dethroned! Logan will make your toe curls, your body tingle, and your eyes roll back. And leave you begging for more.

And don't let his intense Dom persona fool you, there's a big softie in there as well. I love that! He is a man in love who will do anything, give up everything and even risk his life for the ONE woman he's always loved. And he shows it, he's not afraid to say how he feels and to make his woman know that she is cherished.

And speaking of that one woman, Tara, or as he calls her Cherry, is a great heroine. She got dumped by the love of her teenage life after she gave him her virginity and yet here she is facing him, and letting him train her for her first field assignment as an FBI agent.

And yes, I said train her. Tara ends up at Club Dominion with her partner to receive training so they can infiltrate an event where girls are being abducted from to be sold as sex slaves. This hits home for Tara when the last agent that had gone in (her best friend) gets abducted. And she is assigned to the toughest Dom in the club. The one that can train the wild ones.

Tara is a submissive by nature and even though she fights Logan at times, their chemistry is undeniable, and she can't fight it for long.

I have to admit I knew who the bad guy was as soon as that person first shows up in the book, but the storyline was still pretty suspenseful, I did not see the extent of the bad guys' involvement in the plot, and especially towards the end, it was action packed, with lots of unexpected twists and turns.

Belong To Me also opens up a world of new characters and possibilities for the series. We're introduced to Club Dominion, where Logan comes to play. All the testosterone flying around that place! I am especially intrigued to see what's Xander's story.

This book has truly brought back the series for me. This is truly Shayla Black at her best! If there's someone out there that can write a truly erotic book, that someone is Ms. Black. Nobody does it better!

And now, how long do I have to wait for Tyler's book? We have been waiting a long time, I've loved him since he first showed up in this series, and after Surrender To Me I've had an even softer spot for him. After reading the excerpt, I cannot wait! I can tell it'll be action packed from the beginning and will throw his world upside down. I am ready for the ride!

OMG, I Loved, Loved, Loved this story. I must admit that the only other book in this series that I really liked was Wicked Ties and I loved Jack. In my opinion, this book and Logan tie with it.
Logan was just so in love with Tara and my heart broke for him at what he had to do to protect her. What a sweet man.
My only complaint would be that Tara took too long to trust and believe Logan. I know she had been hurt but come on, he told you why. She was too wishy-washy. Why does SB make her heroine's like that?
Now Xander, he is quite the character. God I laughed at some of the things he said. I can't wait to read his story.

Belong to Me was the fifth book in the Wicked Lovers series by Shayla Black. I read the series out of order and didn’t feel like I missed anything; although if given the opportunity to read in order, that would be my recommendation.

Logan Edgington was a Navy Seal, an uber alpha and totally damaged. His mother was brutally murdered; he had discovered the body and now several years later, it was still a cold case. Logan was a popular Dom at the club Dominion and we assumed early on that he had a lost love, but the details were unraveled as the story progressed.

Tara Jacobs was an FBI agent. She was training as a submissive at Dominion to go undercover to help stop a sex slave trade ring. She was paired with Logan for her training. They had a past and Tara still hadn’t forgiven Logan for his callous way of ending things.

I disliked Tara from the beginning. She was undercover trying to train as a submissive but was the worst candidate for a submissive and it was annoying. I didn’t buy into her being able to successfully pull off the role undercover and I hated her topping from the bottom.

With that said, I enjoyed the plot. It was suspenseful and for a very short timeline, one week, the story was surprisingly well developed. It was heavy on the sex and the BDSM roles, which at times was repetitive, but was educational. And once the undercover mission started, the pages flew by. Additionally, I fell in love with Logan’s best friend and fellow Dom, Xander. I totally can’t wait to see what’s in store for him.

First, let me start with what was good. There's no doubt Shayla Black is a decent, I'll even say good writer. Her books flow pretty well, and she writes some of the best and steamiest sex scenes that just about set the whole book on fire. It's why I want to read her, the erotica is sexy as hell and it seems she knows her stuff when it comes to the lifestyle (I couldn't say otherwise, not knowing anything really about it). If you're ever looking for a scorching read with beautiful heroines and uber alpha usually military type males and awesome sex between them, I'll point you to Ms. Black's books, especially Wicked Ties, as it's my favorite and the first of her books I read. Granted, I've pretty much only read the Wicked Ties series, and I think one other. I'm thinking this is my 6th or 7th of her books. I really do enjoy her writing. But. . .

And this is a big but - it feels like the exact same plot like, same sequence of events happening every time. It's really not, because her plots are varied, but it just feels the same. It's always the same tone, always the men taking care of the women, always two men to one woman, always the uber alpha man is a Dom, always the heroine who thinks she's not into being dominated but the hero knows her true feelings better. Always the woman eventually giving in, giving up the fight and becoming the hero's dream submissive, after lots of sex and attempts of the hero trying to subdue her, always calling it a 'pretty pussy,' always granite hard muscles on the men. It's very formulaic in that way. These books are suppose to be sort of a romantic suspense in a way, but it's always obvious who the villain is. It's growing tiresome for me, and I wish the author would expand her horizons more. I know she has a paranormal series out, and I haven't tried it, but PNR is not my thing, I can read it only every once in a while. I want the sexiness the uber hot alpha heroes, but give me different emotions, different plot lines and a heroine with a backbone would be nice. I noticed in the author's notes/acknowledgments she really tried to develop 'Cherry' into a much more emotional character. I'll admit she's got some depth, but the constant back and forth in Cherry's mind was annoying. Even after she found out why Logan left her, she couldn't trust him. It was 'should I or shouldn't I trust him?' when I think it would have worked better as 'how am I going to reconcile the bastard I thought he was to the decent man he is.' When you hold such deep resentment for someone for 12 years to where your first meeting has you fleeing, then something's wrong and you obviously still have feelings for him and should be able to recognize that, instead of throwing a temper tantrum. If he didn't mean that much to you, you wouldn't be turned on by him, and it would hella awkward to be so intimately involved with him on a case.

Speaking of the case, I may not be privy to what sort of under cover missions the FBI has and what they really require of their operatives to bust up a sex ring, but somehow I don't think this type of case would fly. If so, I found the way it was discussed childish and more like how a 16 year old boy would talk about it, instead of how a professional would. It seemed very 'on the surface' and trite. And I don't think it's the first time this author has used sex clubs, BDSM and the like to put an FBI agent into this kind of lifestyle. Please pick something different!

If you like this series, I think you'll like this one. It really does have all the hallmarks of the typical book in the Wicked Ties series, so it'll be jumping into something familiar. But if you're like me and kinda tired of the same 'ol same 'ol, well, you'll still enjoy the scorching sex scenes, as Logan is hot and Cherry is to be envied. If you haven't read any in this series, I suggest you start with the first one, Wicked Ties, even though you don't really have to read this series in order, they are very easily stand alones. I just like it the best.

From page one, I knew this was going to be a hot, wild ride. Maybe it was the “thwack” of Logan’s well-trained hand on the posterior of a willing submissive or my favorite group, Depeche Mode, playing in the background. Whatever the case may be, this book did not disappoint.
Fade in to Logan Edgington, the sexy Navy Seal brother of Hunter and Kimber, putting his best Dom moves on a willing subject. While Logan prides himself in being the ultimate Dom, he still has problems totally committing to anyone. Though he is adept at keeping his willing partners teetering on the edge of orgasm, he has kept his own libido on serious lock-down. The reason for this self-imposed celibacy? Tara Jacobs. A sweet high school romance, which led to Logan being her “first everything," ended abruptly, leaving unresolved feelings. When Logan and his fellow Doms are called into a powwow with the head Dom in charge, Thorpe, to be briefed on collaboration with the FBI, the last person he’s expecting to see is his lost love.

Tara, who is now a FBI agent, is working a sex slave auction case. Apparently, while working undercover as a Submissive, a female agent has gone missing. Tara and her partner need to be trained in all phases of the BDSM world. Logan is a bit apprehensive, but completely willing to put Tara through her paces. Seeing Logan again after all these years sets Tara on edge. However, she can’t completely deny the attraction that is still there. When Tara’s partner can’t cut it as her Dom, Logan is drafted for the job. While training with Logan, Tara finds all the walls that she had built up slowly coming down. She is no wilting flower and is ready, willing and able to do whatever is necessary to succeed at this assignment, her first one in the field.

Logan couldn’t be happier to have another shot at Tara. He has to make her understand all the reasons behind his sudden departure from her life. After getting a lead on the whereabouts of the missing agent, Tara and Logan head for Fantasy Key, a super exclusive BDSM club in The Keys. While playing a couple, Tara and Logan have to keep one step ahead of the club’s head Dom and elusive owner because one false move could be permanently damaging. When Tara has to make a decision between following her heart or following her head, will her decision cost her a renewed love for Logan or her life?

I love this series and loved this book. While there was a lot of sex, the book had a lot of heart and soul. Tara’s constant inner struggle with trusting Logan, again, and wanting to hate him make her a totally likeable heroine. She doesn’t give in easily and makes Logan work for it. Logan’s openness and honesty with Tara will make your heart melt. This is truly a man in love, even though he has a hard time expressing himself. I found myself rooting for them, wanting them to work out their issues. Tara is a smart, sexy woman with a penchant for all things submissive. Logan is the dominant alpha male who can crack the whip and wear a pair of leathers like nobody else. They are perfect for each other.

Ms. Black totally hit this one out of the park. She has written some of the hottest BDSM scenes that I have read. Word of warning – the scenes are so intense you just may have to sit inside a walk-in freezer while reading them. Holy Hotness!!! This one is a winner.

The romance aspects were really pretty good, but the thriller/mystery bit was a bit hard to swallow and at the end the big reveal came off as a big huge reach.

Some minor complaints with the BDSM parts:

There were also some bits with the power exchange aspect that weren't handled very well. There was no discussion of limits, or explaining what he was going to do first. At one point the MC invited another another male in on the scene without having ever asked if it was okay or warning her first and a lot of that kind of behavior got swept under the umbrella of "But we really have to get all of her training done RIGHT NOW!"

Tara is a FBI analyst who has volunteered to go undercover at a BDSM/sex resort situation to stop a sex trafficking ring but needs to be trained to be a sub. Enter Logan, her old high school love that burned her when he ended things for reasons she didn't know about at the time, as he is a Dom at the club and uses the situation to try and win her back.

I picked this book out of the Wicked Lovers Series because of their cameo in Wicked as Sin/Wicked Ever After. I did like the Tara and Logan and they definitely had their hot moments. Wasn't expecting the plot twist in the storyline which made me appreciate that the author didn't try to run too far away from the plot and just focus on the smut (even if the scenes were hot). Loved the Xander/Logan friendship dynamic, and Xander always made me laugh in any scene he was in. A little repetitive at times and wish we got to see more Logan/Tara outside the club but I get why the focus was there and it helped remind the reader about the sex trafficking FBI case plot.

The sexy parts in this book were really hot and I liked the relationship - Logan yearning for her for years and I thought Tara had a right to despise him. However, the suspense plot was so ridiculously over the top that I can't, in all conscience, rate it higher.

In Belong to Me, the characters have to deal with TWO threats: the murderer of Logan's mother who doesn't want Logan and Tara to be together plus the sex-slave ring that Tara is trying to infiltrate by learning how to be a sub and save her best friend. Can you tell how many wrong things you find with that premise?

This plot was so freaking convoluted and everything could have unraveled with a few questions. When the killer threatened Tara's life...why did everybody assume it was about Logan? Didn't anybody wonder why was Tara so special that a killer didn't want her to be with him? They could have found out who he was (or at least have a pretty good idea) within a day if they asked themselves that question.

Then there was Tara telling others about her mission (like FBI stings are supposed to be public knowledge) or the fact that she was entrusted with such an important mission with no experience whatsoever. I mean, I know it's a BDSM book so the author can take some liberties with the suspense part but that doesn't mean the plot should be this crazy!

I'll probably read the next book when I'm in the mood for something hot but hopefully it's not as silly as this one.

I seem to be having more trouble than usual reading and enjoying these very far-fetched storylines. It's certainly a hot and sexy book, but the plot really killed it for me.

Review posted: Happily Ever After - Reads

Everything in her responded to him. Together, they strained for more pleasure, two halves of a whole both aching for something desperately that they could only get from the other.

We open in the middle of a scene at the BDSM club, Dominion, with Logan in all his Dom glory. We find out fast that he gives the sub’s what they need, but brings in his friend Xavier to finish the scene. He hasn’t had sex in years and all because of one woman he can’t stop loving. The same woman he fell in love with at 16 years old, they’ve been apart for 12 years and when he’s on leave from the Navy, he tries to fulfill the emptiness inside him through being a Dom at the club, but never going too far. Until he sees the woman he loves, Tara in Dominion, training to be a submissive for her first FBI assignment.

Tara can’t forgive Logan for breaking her heart in high school and hasn’t forgotten how he crushed her the day after taking her virginity. He broke up with her, for reasons that he didn’t share, and she’s unfortunately compared every guy that’s come after to Logan, and no one makes her want like Logan does. She’s shocked to say the least when he walks into her training at Dominion, and when Logan catches up on the mission details, there’s no way anyone else but him is going to train Tara in the club. Time’s ticking, she only has a matter of days to become a convincing enough sub so she can infiltrate the last known club her missing best friend and fellow agent was in before it’s too late.

Logan quickly takes the second chance he’s been given with Tara and leads her through many scenes and scenarios that she needs to get comfortable with for the mission to be successful. They get very intimate, very fast and Tara has a hard time letting go and she definitely has issues with trusting Logan again after being burned once already. Tara has a lot to consider, she’s never fully gotten over Logan, but she’s tried and is currently engaged to man who while being stable, doesn’t give her much emotionally. Being a Dom is something Logan craves and as much as he wants Tara to submit to him fully and forever, he wants her heart more and sets out to get it back for good.

“Bratty girl. I’ll definitely spank you again.” He lowered himself over her, covering her thighs, belly, and chest, before burying his face in her neck. “Later.”

At the feel of him on top of her, heat raced through her veins like a drug. She clutched him, held him tight. Probably not smart, but Logan’s tenderness was getting to her. Like this, he made everything feel so intimate.

I had been looking forward to Logan’s book after reading Hunter’s (his brother) book and he’s every bit the possessive, passionate, alpha male. After his mother’s murder when he was in high school, he received threatening notes warning him to stay away from Tara or the same thing would happen to her. Being a 16 year old kid, he did what he thought was best and broke up with her hoping to protect her, but he never stopped loving her. Seeing her again after all these years, he wastes no time and uses his position at Dominion to work his way back into her life. To say these two had chemistry and scorching love scenes is an understatement. Logan let himself go completely with Tara and while their BDSM scenes weren’t hardcore, he pushed her limits but never went beyond anything that was “too” much. Even with their relationship being so hot, it moved so fast. Tara’s engagement didn’t last long and in just a few days Logan is proclaiming that she’ll be his forever, love, marriage, kids. This is a small pet peeve of mine, I have a hard time buying into a story when the couple, even one reunited after years apart, can fall back into love so quickly and completely, especially when Tara says over and over how trusting Logan again won’t be easy and she’s not even sure for most the book that she’ll be able to do so. Anything that moves too fast is hard for me to fully believe.

Tara's a strong character, willing to put herself in a dangerous and uncomfortable situation to save her friend. The majority of the story is spent at Dominion, getting Tara prepared for her mission, and I was really looking forward to the mission itself and seeing how it all played out. Realizing this is not a romantic suspense book, the story was focused on Logan and Tara, but there was a really nice build up to her going in, rescuing her friend, finding the people responsible for that act and many other horrible things and bringing them to justice. That part of the story seemed to wrap up pretty quickly, especially considering the revelations that came out as a result at the missions end.

I would like to take a moment to ask (read: plea) with Shayla Black to write a book for Xander…please? He’s a supporting character that, just from the little bit we know about him, comes off as playful, sexy guy, and he played his role in the mission to a T…a little too well. Maybe there’s something in Xander’s past we need to know about. He’s definitely a character that stands out, and I want to know more about him.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I’ve always liked stories when the couple has a past together and circumstances keep them apart. It’s always interesting to me to see how they come back together and how that relationship builds and moves past whatever it was that kept them apart in the first place. Logan and Tara’s scenes burn up the pages, but I was just left wanting a little bit more. More time to pass through the story, or more on their relationship outside of Dominion.

(Side Note: I don’t normally comment on the excerpt in the back of the book, since it has nothing to do with the review, but I’m very excited for Tyler’s book. The excerpt did its job, I finished Logan and Tara’s book feeling happy with the last few pages of their story, read the “coming soon” portion of Tyler’s book and I can’t wait. Talk about a great teaser!)

Brilliant! Drop every thing! Run to your favorite bookstore and grab a copy. BELONG TO ME does not dissapoint!

BELONG TO ME by New York Times bestselling author Shayla Black recently released by Berkley Heat is one erotic adrenaline thrill ride. It was almost more than this reader could take. Trying to catch my breath to absorb every erotic and titillating moment that this creative writer gives her legions of fans an extremely hot a sensual engaging read I could not have adored this book more.

Twelve years ago Navy SEAL Logan Edgington broke his high school sweetheart’s heart, but he had his reasons. For the last dozen years or so he has never forgotten the smell the taste and the one girl who has had his heart. Even being the most sought after Dom at Dominion club doesn’t ease his torment or the longing of touching; possessing and making her belong to him one more time.

FBI analyst Tara Jacobs is going undercover as a sub to save her friend who has gone missing while investigating a sex ring. Tara will have to become the consonant sub but with her independent nature the Dom’s are have more than their work cut out for them.

What to do?

Send in the one man who always had Tara’s heart in the palm of his skillful hands. Logan has never forgotten that one explosive time they spent together when they were sophomore’s in high school. So when he sees the stubborn red head his body instantly reacts and he knows he is the only one that can bring this stubborn woman to submit to her true nature.

Tara is not in the forgiving or forgetting mood but to save her friend she will endure Logan touches that ignite her boy and heightened her senses giving her the most unbelievable pleasure she has ever experienced.

Having second thoughts is not in Tara’s nature and she will do anything to take down this repulsive sex ring. Even if that mean Tara has to endure the torturous sensual and erotic tutorials at the hands of the man who broke her heart.

BELONG TO ME is the fifth book in New York Times bestselling authors Wicked Lovers series and my very first foray into the contemporary erotic romance side of this incredibly talented author.

I need to state upfront that if you are not a BDSM fan (and who isn’t) then this book will not before you. But I highly recommend that if you are entering the erotica world of romance that BELONG TO ME will be the very first book you read. This story was beyond what I had imagined it could have ever been. I am one of those readers that if I can take elements away from the story and the characters and prose stand firm than this is the book for me. I do not want readers to shy away from BELONG TO ME because of the explicit sexual scenes or the BDSM life style because those are only two elements of this mind-blowing prose that will have readers racing back to their favorite book store for more books in this series.

I am a true blue second chance at love kind of girl. BELONG TO ME is one of my favorite second chances at love. The reason I kept reading late into the night was partly due to hot alpha Dom and Navy SEAL Logan Edgington who in three words simply BLOW YOUR MIND and have readers begging for more. Logan is not just that hottie alpha male that has a killer body and smile but this character is fleshed out so skillfully that you forget that he is a character and believe he is in fact real. I was as engrossed with Logan as a person that the fact he was a Dom did not matter as much as Logan finding a way back into Tara’s heart. Logan Edgington is a character that every romance junkies fantasize about having in their real life. When you have one perfect male you need ‘the’ perfect partner.

Tara Jacobs is everything that Logan needs. Readers will understand why in the last dozen years Logan Edgington could not forget Tara Jacob or give up winning her heart. Tara Jacobs is a kick-ass protagonist with a warm girly side. Tara’s voice was just as loud if not more so than Logan’s due to being a logical created character who still lives with the sting of a broken heart. These two strikingly crafted protagonists were beyond a pleasure to read and get to know.

Every good book needs fantastic supporting characters that help move the story to its perfect ending. BELONG TO ME for readers familiar with Shayla Black’s Wicked Lovers series will fell like a warm and very welcoming family reunion with Logan Edgington’s big brother, Hunter and his wife, Kata (SURRENDER TO ME) with brief appearance of Logan’s baby sister, Kimber and her husband, Deke (DECADENT). Yesm those characters are great but the one character that goes above and beyond in BELONG TO ME is Logan’s friend and fellow Dom, Xander. Xander is an alpha male unto himself and then some. This character interjects a comical wit which the author perfectly placed throughout the book. He is your born-with-a-silver-spoon in his mouth, rich, beautiful and a fully sexually charged Dom that as a reader prays has his own story in the works.

As I mentioned above, I am a die hard second chance at love kind of girl. The theme of a second chance at redemption, forgiveness and yes—love was a potent aphrodisiac that kept me glue to BELONG TO ME. Not only were the explicitly sensual sexual scenes tastily created but fit perfectly throughout the book. The sexual escaped between the protagonists enhanced the prose of the story and in no way hinder the theme of when love gives you a second chance grab on, hold tight and fight to the bitter end until it is yours once again.

BELONG TO ME has dynamic characters with wit and charm expressed through charismatic dialogues, erotic sexually charged love scenes that will make readers a devote fanatic fan of Shayla Black.

While i'm no stranger to BDSM story, I cannot say that I am a fan of such theme. Most of the time I find the relationship between the characters tiring, or the storyline has no, well, much of a storyline, to be honest.

I went into this with the same expectation. But much to my surprise, Belong to Me come with a solid storyline. Yes, the sex was smoking but it wasn't all spank and no life. And much to my delight as well, I don't find the characters annoying. And what surprises me even more is I found myself liking the female lead character.

THE EDGY EDGINGTON BOYS!!

No doubt about those Edgington boys, they are nothing if not delectable. I loved Hunter but I adored Logan. I thoroughly enjoy this series because it's edgier than vanilla yet retains a good vibe about it and it is so well written. Logan is a dom with a heart and boy did he wear his romantic nature on his sleeve as far as his "Cherry" was concerned. He was not afraid to bear his feelings whilst retaining his strong manly nature, an attractive combination. The talk during their sex was great, I love me some dirty talk with the lovin" rather than just internal monologue and being walked through the sex. Tara was a good partner for Logan as she obviously has the right sexual proclivities for him, yet she was her own person - intelligent, questioning and brave. Belong To Me is the best book in the series so far, and that is saying something as each book has been good to great. The plot was easy enough to work out but was never dull and I couldn't get enough of Logan and Logan/Tara, they were smoking hot together. The series just keeps getting better (I didn't want this book to end) and what makes me happy is there are more characters for Ms Black to move foward with (yay). Bring on Tyler I can't wait, and Xander (mmmm) is someone I'm waiting to read more about in a big way. Shayla Black's books are a cut above many others in this genre. Obviously there is a kink to this series (BDSM, D/s, Menage) and if you think they sound interesting don't delay give them a go they are a really good, sexy read.

Tara and Logan

3.5 start
This was a pretty good book. It was much better than the last book in this series. At least Tara seemed to have a choice in what happened to her.

I loved the first 50% of the book. What kept me from giving this a higher score was Tara's attitude once they got to the club. The FBI had profiled Tara as a submissive and while I don't think that means she has to be a doormat the pattern that Black creates with her heroines can get a little old. They are submissive during sex but then outside they are kind of bitchy. Tara insisted she was an FBI agent so she could totally take care of herself. But she had never been in the field, never been on a mission, never done any fieldwork. Her confidence was a bit misplaced.

When Tara Jacobs’ best friend, maid of honor and fellow agent goes missing while on assignment, Tara leaves her FBI analyst desk job to go undercover as a sexual submissive in order to infiltrate a sex ring, locate the missing agent and rescue her. In order to prepare, Tara and Agent York, will train at Dominion, a BDSM club, in order to convincingly pose as a Dom/Sub couple. But time is short and Tara is worried that Agent York won’t be able to pull off the Dom persona. He’s just too close to the situation. The missing agent is his fiancé.

Navy SEAL Logan Edgington has lived the Dom lifestyle for years now. He’s currently on leave and is spending quite a bit of time at Dominion. When club owner, Mitchell Thorpe asks him to train an FBI agent and make sure she’s ready for an undercover assignment Logan jumps at the chance, especially after he sees his soon-to-be pupil through the two way mirror for the first time. Just the sight of her kneeling in a submissive pose, her red hair flowing down her back, gets Logan all worked up. Logan enters the room and begins to speak to the woman for the first time. He is completely unprepared when the woman he’s supposed to train turns out to be someone he knows but has not seen in over 12 years.

Tara and Logan were high school sweethearts. At 16, they were in love and Tara had given up her virginity to Logan. They had their whole lives ahead of them and the joy of young love had Logan’s heart bursting. Unfortunately, nothing could prepare him for the tragedy awaiting him when he got home from school that day. When Logan arrives home, he finds his mother dead, murdered. If that wasn’t enough, he finds a threatening note on his bed that states that if he doesn’t leave Tara alone, she may be the killer’s next victim. Frightened and wanting Tara safe, he breaks up with her the next day.

Twelve years later, he finds himself face to face with Tara Jacobs, in Dominion of all places and all the feelings he’s ignored come rushing back. But Tara is not having any of it. All she knows is that Logan left her and broke her heart and for the past 12 years she’s tried to heal and get on with her life. At the moment, Tara doesn’t have time for questions or explanations. Her focus is learning what she needs to know so she can rescue her friend.

I really liked this book. I have no knowledge whatsoever with regard to the BDSM lifestyle and my preconceived notions of a Dom/Sub relationship were somewhat inaccurate to say the least. When Tara is paired with Logan for training she fights it with all she has. How can she possibly pretend to submit to Logan after everything they’ve gone through in the past? Worse, she finds that she doesn’t really have to pretend. She’s drawn to Logan and she really has no trouble submitting to him. She likes it. The attraction started so many years before is still there and even with the huge gaping hole of hurt and confusion Logan left when he broke up with her is not enough to stop her from falling under Logan’s spell.

Logan has never stopped loving Tara. Having to leave her that day, broken hearted, with no explanation as to why, has caused him pain every day since. In fact, it’s affected him so much that he’s been celibate for many years. When he’s asked to be part of Tara’s training he jumps at the chance, knowing that this is his last chance not only to explain, but to win her heart again. Things take a positive turn for Logan when Tara’s FBI/Dom goes missing and he jumps at the chance to go undercover with Tara.

This book is HOT! There is a lot of sex. In fact, I’d say a little over the first half is focused on Tara’s “training” at club Dominion. What I found really different with this book, though, was that it was so emotionally charged that the sex parts were necessary. It was truly the catalyst for Tara especially. You can literally feel her walls crumbling down as she lets Logan be the man he wants to be for her. For Logan, even as a Dom, it’s all about Tara. Everything-his heart, his soul, his every breath is Tara. When we meet Logan in the beginning, he’s quite broken and we see him come back to life for Tara. It’s really well written and will pull you in.

There is great focus on the rebuilding of the relationship between Tara and Logan and the suspense of the missing FBI agent kind of takes a back seat. Did I feel jipped? Not at all. Though, I will say that once Tara and Logan are placed undercover at the resort things happen very quickly and the mystery is solved very smoothly. I was completely shocked at who the bad guy was and I love it when that happens. I was so completely wrong! Very much enjoyed the character Xavier, Logan’s good friend. Would LOVE to see more of him!
This is not the type of story I would normally choose, BDSM being something I really can’t wrap my head around; but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Logan Edgington, when on leave from serving as a Navy Seal, is a Dominant at BDSM Club Dominion teaching discipline to the more difficult Submissives in attendance. He uses his professionally trained emotional disconnect not only in the field but also in the dungeon. The club is basically the essence of Logan’s hollow, empty sex life. Choosing to impose a self-induced five-year celibacy, his only sexual desire/release comes from the thrill of control as a Dom and the fantasies he still has of his high school sweetheart and only love-Tara Jacobs.

Twelve years ago, the same night Logan’s mother was brutally murdered; he received a note from her killer stating that Tara would be his next victim if Logan did not end their relationship. After a hit and run accident that left Tara with a broken arm, Logan had no doubt believing her life was in danger. Convinced there was no other way to protect Tara, he abruptly broke up with her without ever revealing the truth.

Tara is now an FBI agent and embarking on her first field assignment that requires training at Club Dominion by none other than her former high school flame, Logan. To this day Tara has yet to learn the real reason of their breakup. This factor proves to be the elephant in the room when she joins forces with Logan to pose as an undercover submissive in order to infiltrate a sex ring that now holds her best friend hostage. Logan realizes this assignment is his opportunity to prove his love to Tara and fill the nagging emptiness that has consumed his life since their parting all those years ago.

Belong To Me is the fifth book in the Wicked Ties series and I must admit, after reading the second book (Decadent) and disliking it so much, I had no desire to continue on. But after reading the synopsis and knowing that this story was based on a couple that had romantic ties in the past, I decided to give Shayla Black another go and I’m so glad I did! I adore second chance stories. Ms. Black did not disappoint in providing enough history of the circumstances surrounding the traumatic breakup between Logan and Tara to empower the present day feelings of desire and betrayal. Both characters have been a mess since their breakup twelve years ago. Although Logan and Tara have succeeded in their careers, they have miserably failed in personal/romantic relationships because neither one have let go of their feelings for the other. Now that they are working together, their chemistry, once again is immediate and tangibly raw. The sexual and emotional tension between Logan and Tara is unceasing after their first touch. Once they submit to each other sexually, it is intensely, undeniably off-the-chain HOT! (Did I mention they were HOT?) While Tara believes she is only a girl Logan needs to get out of his system from the past, she cannot help but surrender to him hungry, needy and demanding more. Logan is convinced that during this training he will conquer all of Tara’s hurt and fears from the past to secure a permanent life with the only woman he was meant to have.

While the killer was an easy peg early on in the story, it did not deter from the overall suspense. However, the bulk of the story was of Logan and Tara forming a newfound trust and rebuilding a relationship that they both desperately want. My only frustration with the story was at times Tara’s lack of trust and “guarding of her heart” became a little tiresome given Logan’s vulnerability and honesty in laying the truth on the line. Also, as an FBI agent, her demeanor appeared weaker than expected but given the assignment was of a personal nature, it was easier to overlook. Logan was a natural Dom, but he was also one of the most raw, honest and emotional heroes when it came to his feelings for Tara. His possessive yet tender nature was refreshing and at times heartbreaking when he had doubts that Tara would ever trust him again. A truly desirable alpha male, Logan is a fixer, a protector and ultimately a giver with his emotions and his heart, which provided Tara the man she always wanted and a highly satisfying HEA for this inescapable couple.

Favorite Quote:

“As he pressed deeper, Tara’s need to have all of him surged. She lifted and wriggled, head tossed back. Logan kissed her exposed throat and ground his hips to her, detonating a new flurry of sensation through her. They weren’t just joining bodies, and she knew it. Felt the tendrils of the fragile love they’d both clung to over the years thicken and grow, curling around them with every sweet, slow glide deep inside her. With every thrust, she panted out her pleasure, then held her breath as he withdrew, waiting for more of the sweet ache to ramp up to the explosion she needed to feel all the way down to her soul.”
