Everything in her responded to him. Together, they strained for more pleasure, two halves of a whole both aching for something desperately that they could only get from the other.

We open in the middle of a scene at the BDSM club, Dominion, with Logan in all his Dom glory. We find out fast that he gives the sub’s what they need, but brings in his friend Xavier to finish the scene. He hasn’t had sex in years and all because of one woman he can’t stop loving. The same woman he fell in love with at 16 years old, they’ve been apart for 12 years and when he’s on leave from the Navy, he tries to fulfill the emptiness inside him through being a Dom at the club, but never going too far. Until he sees the woman he loves, Tara in Dominion, training to be a submissive for her first FBI assignment.

Tara can’t forgive Logan for breaking her heart in high school and hasn’t forgotten how he crushed her the day after taking her virginity. He broke up with her, for reasons that he didn’t share, and she’s unfortunately compared every guy that’s come after to Logan, and no one makes her want like Logan does. She’s shocked to say the least when he walks into her training at Dominion, and when Logan catches up on the mission details, there’s no way anyone else but him is going to train Tara in the club. Time’s ticking, she only has a matter of days to become a convincing enough sub so she can infiltrate the last known club her missing best friend and fellow agent was in before it’s too late.

Logan quickly takes the second chance he’s been given with Tara and leads her through many scenes and scenarios that she needs to get comfortable with for the mission to be successful. They get very intimate, very fast and Tara has a hard time letting go and she definitely has issues with trusting Logan again after being burned once already. Tara has a lot to consider, she’s never fully gotten over Logan, but she’s tried and is currently engaged to man who while being stable, doesn’t give her much emotionally. Being a Dom is something Logan craves and as much as he wants Tara to submit to him fully and forever, he wants her heart more and sets out to get it back for good.

“Bratty girl. I’ll definitely spank you again.” He lowered himself over her, covering her thighs, belly, and chest, before burying his face in her neck. “Later.”

At the feel of him on top of her, heat raced through her veins like a drug. She clutched him, held him tight. Probably not smart, but Logan’s tenderness was getting to her. Like this, he made everything feel so intimate.

I had been looking forward to Logan’s book after reading Hunter’s (his brother) book and he’s every bit the possessive, passionate, alpha male. After his mother’s murder when he was in high school, he received threatening notes warning him to stay away from Tara or the same thing would happen to her. Being a 16 year old kid, he did what he thought was best and broke up with her hoping to protect her, but he never stopped loving her. Seeing her again after all these years, he wastes no time and uses his position at Dominion to work his way back into her life. To say these two had chemistry and scorching love scenes is an understatement. Logan let himself go completely with Tara and while their BDSM scenes weren’t hardcore, he pushed her limits but never went beyond anything that was “too” much. Even with their relationship being so hot, it moved so fast. Tara’s engagement didn’t last long and in just a few days Logan is proclaiming that she’ll be his forever, love, marriage, kids. This is a small pet peeve of mine, I have a hard time buying into a story when the couple, even one reunited after years apart, can fall back into love so quickly and completely, especially when Tara says over and over how trusting Logan again won’t be easy and she’s not even sure for most the book that she’ll be able to do so. Anything that moves too fast is hard for me to fully believe.

Tara's a strong character, willing to put herself in a dangerous and uncomfortable situation to save her friend. The majority of the story is spent at Dominion, getting Tara prepared for her mission, and I was really looking forward to the mission itself and seeing how it all played out. Realizing this is not a romantic suspense book, the story was focused on Logan and Tara, but there was a really nice build up to her going in, rescuing her friend, finding the people responsible for that act and many other horrible things and bringing them to justice. That part of the story seemed to wrap up pretty quickly, especially considering the revelations that came out as a result at the missions end.

I would like to take a moment to ask (read: plea) with Shayla Black to write a book for Xander…please? He’s a supporting character that, just from the little bit we know about him, comes off as playful, sexy guy, and he played his role in the mission to a T…a little too well. Maybe there’s something in Xander’s past we need to know about. He’s definitely a character that stands out, and I want to know more about him.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I’ve always liked stories when the couple has a past together and circumstances keep them apart. It’s always interesting to me to see how they come back together and how that relationship builds and moves past whatever it was that kept them apart in the first place. Logan and Tara’s scenes burn up the pages, but I was just left wanting a little bit more. More time to pass through the story, or more on their relationship outside of Dominion.

(Side Note: I don’t normally comment on the excerpt in the back of the book, since it has nothing to do with the review, but I’m very excited for Tyler’s book. The excerpt did its job, I finished Logan and Tara’s book feeling happy with the last few pages of their story, read the “coming soon” portion of Tyler’s book and I can’t wait. Talk about a great teaser!)

Trader (RedHotBlueReads) I'm in the middle of reading this right now and loving it! I agree with what you said about things moving fast, I think that is true with this entire series. You can't over analyze these stories, there are plenty of little plot holes, you just have to sit back and enjoy it. I liked Hunter's book and I'm loving this one even more
