The paper focuses on a particular moment where the inward, self-complacent narrator is unexpectedly touched by an interaction they witness: a person hesitates and allows another with a pram to pass through a doorway first. Levinas uses this to support his idea of the self as a duality of existent and existence, where the existent must effortfully work towards existence, and the other is required to penetrate the tragedy of this effortful solitary existence.

Draws on ideas such as the Taoist concept of wu wei and Csikszentmihalyi's flow state. Style of writing was way too floral for my taste, and this could've easily been 1/3 of the length.
