I found Lessons in Corruption on one of those Goodreads lists. I thought, hmm… why not? This is a teacher / student book and get this, it’s an MC book AND… wait for it… he’s the student!
I didn’t know if I would like the Hero being younger, but it worked, only because he talks and acts like a twenty-something year old but I went with it.
One thing, I didn’t feel like the cover matched the guy, only because he has shoulder length hair, I know, I’m picky, but that’s me.
So this is a standalone and a very long book. I don’t really mind long books, but you get plenty of meat, character development. I do admit some parts were overly descriptive and took a bit longer than I wanted, but that’s the flow of the book you know? The author has a good balance of dialogue and descriptive writing, I tend to like more dialogue based books, but hey I didn’t skim any pages.
What I enjoyed most about it was the characters. I really like the chemistry between King and Cress.
I liked how Cress felt like she was in rut and King was kind of thing that just opened her eyes. She started drink and gasp ride on a motorcycle, it was cute to read. She did have a HUGE complex that King was her student and it did frustrate me at times because I felt like she was a broken record about it, but it added nice tension to the read.
I loved King’s sexy attitude and F-with-life moto. He’s a twenty-something man trapped in a teenager’s body. He took control and showed Cress what I man feels like. The tension between Cress and King’s was off the charts hot. I loved that the book had some steam.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and I loved the politics of the MC world and I’m curious about the next book which will be about King’s Daddy. ...more

Delilah joins a cult to find answers to why her sister died. I liked that she wasn’t brainwashed and she was joining for another reason.
The book started off good and it had promise. I liked how fast it started and the book has a good mixture of dialogue and inner monologues. I’m kind of picky with word flow.
Adam is the son of the leader. Just because he is the leader doesn’t mean he isn’t treated any better. He answers to his ruthless father and you feel for the guy.
I liked some stuff about the book and some stuff just put me off.
The dark elements were good. I didn’t think the book was too dark, but there were some parts that make you slightly uncomfortable, but it kept you glued to the pages.
The inner workings of the cult are a huge factor of the book. You read a lot of how the girls are trained and how Adam is working in the group. What made this different is that there are older girls that train the new ones. You don’t really know what they are trained for, but it’s hinted that it’s a sex ring and they will be sold into sex slavery.
All of that is nice, except for the fact that the interaction between Adam and Delilah is very minimal. I can count a handful of times he and her actually interact and it’s always with him to “play” with her and then leave. There was little chemistry and little story building between the two and that kind of made me not so interested in the story.
They didn’t really have a relationship.
I also didn’t like that Delilah doesn’t get any answers for her sister and that’s the WHOLE reason why she’s in the mess in the first place. I find it pretty stupid she joins the cult and doesn’t realizes what she is getting herself into.
I’m not sure if I will continue with the series, but the book leaves on a good cliffhanger so I’m curious. ...more

I was pretty open minded when I started this book. I didn’t realize it was a series and it was written four years ago. I’m not even sure the next book ends the series or the author just stopped writing zombie books. I notice now the author writes new adult contemporary book which kind of stinks if i wanted more zombie books but I understand you write what pays. With that said I’m not going to continue the series.
The book isn’t steamy and the romance is light. I was fine with that but it’s not a romance book. The book is mainly about the hero and heroine trying to survive in a zombie infested world.
I loved that the book is mostly dialogue based which is my kind of style of reading. I did struggle with the flow at times. The banter at times felt awkward and forced but I kind of powered through those moments.
I struggled at times with the heroine. Only bc I felt like she could be a bitch for no reason. I understood her reasoning for being so guarded but the hero is totally sweet and she kept on snapping at him.
The zombie world was interesting to read and I was concerned if i was going to read angst or horrible events but to my surprise the book is light even though it’s about zombies. I mean no one is held for rape. It’s not that kind of book.
I guess if you are looking for an intro to zombie book this could be your jam but it stops at two books. I guess you can read the spinoff series this book is based on but since the author isn’t writing anymore zombie books you take a chance loving it and not having more. It’s up to you. ...more

Laura Thalassa has done it again! This book wasn’t what I expected, it was so much more and then some. I got action, romance, an epic plot and I was glued to the pages from start to finish.
I’ll be honest and say I didn’t start this book for some time because of the cover. For some reason I thought it was about something else. Then when I started it, I wanted to slap myself in the face because it’s a really romantic book about two lovers who hate each other, but during a dystopian time.
The beginning is slow and once you get past the 10% mark, it really picks up. I highly suggest you go into it with an open mind because you never know what you are going to get.
The world is ruled by one King. He’s ruthless, powerful and in charge. Serenity and her father are picked to have a meeting with the King for peace talks. She lives in what is called the Western United Nations. Her people need medical care, food and plenty other resources only the King can provide.
The thing is, she is beautiful and the king likes that she is beautiful.
Didn’t see that coming did you? This book is more than a King just fancying Serenity. It’s about good and evil, it’s about right and wrong and it’s about love and hate.
I love Serenity. I love how powerful and strong is she but I also love she is level headed and always looks at it from all sides. I love that the King wants Serenity so much and will do anything to get her. He’s not all what he seems, don’t get me wrong, he’s a bad guy, but I like the other parts of him.
I never wanted the story to end and even though I finished this book close to midnight, I had to read the second book right away.

I was in a dark erotica mood and this book is not it. That’s on me. I had certain expectations. Also I wasn’t overly fond of the writing style.
First off, I hate it when the author writes the ending at the beginning of the book. I highly advise you in skipping the first chapter. It kind of gives away a part of the book. Chapter 2 starts 5 weeks earlier, so I promise you won’t miss anything.
It didn’t take me long to figure out where the storyline was going. I could say there would have been some twists and turns, but for me there were none. I’m not sure if this hindered my reading experience, it’s not the author’s fault I figured everything out in the book, but it kind of sucked all of the unexpected elements.
I found the writing really descriptive and repetitive. I enjoyed the dialogue parts, but I found myself skimming and flipping through pages and pages of descriptive writing. I think the author goes into detail over her Heroine’s past sexual partners. I don’t really need to read a play by play of all the guys she had sex with.
There are past and present parts of the book. I really didn’t like reading the past parts in a different font. Can’t you just write “PAST” at the top? I know it’s silly, but it was hurting my eyes. Also, each chapter was titled and some titles are the character’s names, but the character’s names weren’t the POV the chapter was from. SO I was confused a lot and ignored the chapter titles.
ALSO the past parts had different POV’s but it was never explained who’s POV it was, you just had to figure it out. That was kind of annoying. I also didn’t think the past parts were needed. It was just too much details of sexual abusive that wasn’t needed. I skimmed that because I’m a mom and no thanks.
Overall, I stuck out with this book because of the reviews and I wanted a dark erotic book, but there were just too many things that didn’t jive with my reading style. I’m not sure if I want to finish the series out, I might take a break until then.

I wanted to stop reading after 5% because it was so descriptive, but I kept on reading waiting for the leading Hero to emerge so I see where the romance was going to go.
I waited through the 32% and I realized I didn't like the Heroine. She is a bit full of herself even though she states she isn't that great, hard to comprehend, but true.
Also she kept on saying how submissive the Hero is, because he is human and that's a major turn-off for me
I wanted a little sexual tension, so maybe this book isn't for me...more

That’s right, I’m giving Pestilence six stars, I can’t remember the last time I’ve given a book 6 stars, maybe in a year? I devoured Pestilence from cover to cover. I ate it up and let it sit in my tummy and then did a happy reading dance because the book put me in such a good mood.
I’ll admit I was a little cautious at first picking up this book. Some loved it and some didn’t jive with it, but it’s a Laura Thalassa read and so far she hasn’t let me down. I went into this book blindly and I loved everything about it.
The characters were amazing I love the Hero and Heroine equally The plot was flawless The flow was perfect The cover is divine and beautiful
What more could you ask for?
The thing that I really loved about this book was the world building. It was REALLY simple and kind of perfect. Humans are corrupted and so the horseman comes to town and spreads a plague to kill off the humans. Sara drew the short-end of the straw so she is left behind to kill the horseman.
She doesn’t know he can’t be killed.
His name is Pestilence and he wants his revenge and so he takes her as prisoner.
Isn’t that the best plot?
The other best part of this book is that it’s mainly character driven. I love that it’s only two characters that are the main focal point of the read and so the romance is crazy high in this book. Pestilence is the kind of book I crave for, with high romance.
I loved Sara, I found her strong and strong and did I say strong? She’s human and wants humans to live, but she also rationalizes that Pestilence isn’t what he seems.
I adore Pestilence and he’s the best book boyfriend. I love the way he speaks, kind of old world, and I love how he hates humans but is fascinated by Sara.
You couldn’t ask for a better book. Pestilence is amazing and if you had to start a Laura Thalassa read, you need to start with this one. ...more

This is my first Amy Daws book. It’s a really cute and funny book. I like the writing style as it’s very dialogue based and fast to read. I would have easily given this five star had the plot not be a secret. I’m totally against these kinds of plot because it’s just so much easier to tell the person the truth, then hide a secret that is really silly to keep in the first place.
The beginning of the book is really cute and made me laugh out loud. I liked that the Heroine chooses to write at a Tire place because she can write well there. I’m not too found of the whole independent author storyline because I felt like it’s a little too close to what the author does. I dunno, too many inside jokes?
I’m a picky reader huh?
Anyhow, the relationship between the Hero and Heroine is cute and I usually don’t like the blue collar types (so sue me) but I found him really sweet and endearing.
I love Dean, yeah he’s the nerdy guy with glasses, oh he’s the best friend, but don’t worry, no love triangle.
Just a lot of funny moments with her man, best friends and silly antics. ...more

I’ll be honest and say I took a break from her books bc I felt like it was too much of a wow factor when i was reading her novels. Like she only wrote wow stuff but it didn’t add value to the story.
However I picked up this book bc of a 2 star review. Yup! A bad review got me to pick up this book.
I’ll tell it like it is. It’s a taboo smutty book. You take it for what it is and I enjoyed it. For an hour i got sucked in. Did I like the hero? No. Did i like the young naive virgin. No. Was it an enjoyable read? Yup!
So, even though I’ve been disappointed with K Webster’s full novels I might get sucked into her smutty novellas. If anything she’s my new dark smutty author.
So to recap ... you read it for the sex and kink people. Just telling like it is. ...more

I’ve seen this book for some time now. I’m still in my paranormal binge and I thought why not? I really like the cover.
I will admit, it took me a little to get into it. Maybe 20%? I pushed through because of all of the raving reviews. The author really wants to build up the story and there was a good balance of descriptive writing and dialogue. I’m pretty picky when it comes to that.
Once I got past that, oh man, that’s when it got good. See how I rated it 5 stars? The last 80% got me hooked on the book.
No, the book isn’t too steamy, but what made me like the book so much was the romance!
All her life, Ava has heard voices. Not like hearing people’s thoughts, but like hearing feelings? She can’t describe but as she travels to another country, she slowly realizing … maybe she isn’t crazy.
I really liked that I was like Ava, I was trying to figure things out with her and it added a little mysterious element to the book and made it really engaging.
Malachi is scribe. What is that? Well, it’s a lot of things, but one of things he is, he’s a warrior and his people are slowly dying out because… there’s hardly women!
I know right? More or less Ava is really special and Malachi has his eyes set to protect her.
I love the dynamics between Malachi and Ava. It’s the kind of love you just love to read and I love him protecting her and I love how she wants to be strong.
It’s an addicting book to read and I’m so glad it’s not over! On to the next book. ...more

I picked up this book because it was different and I was in the mood for a paranormal romance. So the Heroes can live forever and they try to kill the undead (vampires). Overall, I liked the romance, but good grief I didn’t understand half of the book.
The accents were a bit much and all the world building was too much with little to no explanation. I might just be a tad slow in this area, but at some point I didn’t even know who was good or bad.
I wanted to finish the book because I like the time travel premise and it was little angst between the Hero and Heroine. However, I was confused too much of the time. I will have to stop the series here. So sad. ...more

This is Dante (Beta / second in command) and Jamie’s story.
This one has the same kind of feel of the first book. I still don’t understand the whole mating thing. I think you can hook up with a wolf, but you can force yourself to imprint? But that’s not as strong as a true mate? But you can “mate” and not be a true mate? There’s also a partial bond and half imprint? Maybe by the 3rd book I will have figured it out.
Anyhow, Dante doesn’t want another mate, he’s been there and she broke his heart. Jamie has a secret about her wolf form and because of that she doesn’t want to mate either.
Somehow Dante can’t let Jamie go and I love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine.
As always this series is all about dominance, alpha males and lots and lots of steam.
I enjoy the narrator very much and I love her voice transitions. ...more
