Morton has created the perfect beginning to an intriguing serial. A murder, a mysterious writer, a small town, a handsome new sheriff, and secrets, secrets, secrets galore!
I have to go read the next one now...because I need to know what happens!...more

Because it was real. In my head, I could picture everything that was going on, even though there were some fantastic elements to it that not all of us experience, most notably the loving and supportive family. I wish my family had been this accepting and supportive, and hey, mine aren't all that bad, in fact, they’re pretty good, but Seb’s family is the stuff dreams are made of. But this is not your typical M/M Romance. The main character is a drag queen. The scenes where Donna Tracey is in face, performing and cracking jokes are reminiscent of all the times I’ve been to a drag show. This author has to be pulling on personal experience. They seriously nailed it. But, queenly bitchiness aside, Seb our main character is faced with real-world problems…and a situation with a miserable ex that I’ve seen played out in real life, albeit with slightly different circumstances. Seb’s emotional reactions were spot on. Now, the love interest Javier was the most delectable, sweet, caring, and honest character I think I’ve ever read. It was hard not to fall in love with him myself! My only quibble would have been an overuse of certain phrases throughout the book. Tears pricked at his eyes, his cologne tickled my nose are just a couple of examples. But I can easily overlook this when the rest of the story was so engaging. It didn’t help any that Buster the Chihuahua also stole my heart – having two of the little beasties myself. The author nailed the mannerisms of this breed down to a ‘T’. Loved Buster, a great addition to the story. Some say that M/M romance can’t be about real life – that it needs to be fantastical in order to transport you away and let you escape from real life. Some say M/M romance has to be filled with page after page of sex. I disagree. Sure, there’s fun in reading that kind of story – but this book is not that kind of M/M Romance. On The Third Kiss transported me into the London Soho community, with bitchy drag queens, pints of beer and pub life laughter, caught up in the foulness of exes, only to be saved by the hot Spaniard who could do no wrong. This was cute, fun, realistic and yet fantastical too, and hot. Nicely done. I’ll be reading more from this author. ...more
