Despite a 2022 copyright, this book already seems to be dated as it mentions using encyclopedias twice* within the first six pages. Both times in my opinion, it was referring to print encyclopedias which I have not encouraged a student to use in at least the last ten years and probably longer (as the last time I purchased a print set for a school was 2004). *Informational books and other useful library books are also referenced in the first mention. In the second mention, we are told that encyclopedias are usually arranged alphabetically and have guide words at the top of every page to help you find the right entry....more

I came across this gem today. The 1970s psychedelic cover immediately caught my attention. Then I saw it was by Thomas Rockwell (of How To Eat Fried WI came across this gem today. The 1970s psychedelic cover immediately caught my attention. Then I saw it was by Thomas Rockwell (of How To Eat Fried Worms fame). I was intrigued. After examining the cover more carefully, reading the endpapers, looking at the table of contents, and attemping to read one of the first chapters, (view spoiler)[Hot I: Nakedness (hide spoiler)], I realized that I was not going to be able to read this collection of absurd stories and poems in its entirety. With so many other books to read right now, this one is not making the current cut. I am sure this was hilarious in 1974 when it was first published; this was the era of Beastly Boys and Ghastly Girls, In the Night Kitchen and Monty Python. It is also entirely possible that at some point in time, I may give this another try....more
