Sometimes I think this book might actually be my favorite book in the entire world. I just. I have no words. It strikes me dumUpdate: Reread, Jan 2016
Sometimes I think this book might actually be my favorite book in the entire world. I just. I have no words. It strikes me dumb. Everything about it is perfect and shocking and weird but not *too* weird and beautiful and poetic and dark and deep and overwhelming and wow.
Never going to get over this.
First read: June 2-3, 2015
I don't....I don't have *words*. Words are primal and base and confusing. I have transcended, obviously. Excuse me while I literally CRY FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER in my corner of transcendence. That's what I'm going to call this series now. My Corner of Transcendence. It's a glorious place so excuse me, goodbye.

Update (reread): FREAKIN' KAREN, MAN. SHE BASICALLY SPELLED EVERYTHING OUT AND I HAD NO IDEA UNTIL THAT LAST PAGE. It was so crazy cool to see all the foreshadowing but the second time reading it almost makes me feel dumb for not catching on the 1st time. Can't even with these books and their perfection....more

I felt like things at the end were going a little faster than they should have (not, like, the actual actions of the characters, but the pacing of the writing), but besides that, the last 200 pages made this hands down the best Bloodlines book so far. WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING OH MY GOSH!!!???!?!?!? Albdaksjajhs the romance is SUPREME. We need more Adrian's and Sydney's and romances like theirs in YA. Teens/young adults who love each other so much that the future isn't even a question and selfishness is *out* of the question. When you love someone as much as these two do, you don't exactly want to do things for yourself. The other person comes first, always.
Also the end hit me like a ton of bricks. Me, reading SS: *flailing arms* THIS IS SO GREAT AND EVERYTHING IS WRAPPING UP AND I KNOW THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS NEXT BOOK BUT YAY HAPPY ENDING WHOOHOO-- *hits a wall* *falls down dead*
Thanks for those last 3 pages, Mead. You really like to pack the roses with explosives, don't you?
Anyway. I am in love and will start THE FINAL BOOK (can you hear me sobbing?) WHEN I GET HOOOOOME!!!!...more

I really tried to like it and to care for the characters and to get interested in the story. I even took someone's advice and kept going when I was originally going to DNF.
It just never picked up for me.
For one, the characters...they were an interesting mix for me. I liked reading about them, but there was this side of me that just didn't care if they lived or died. That tends to be the thing that makes me DNF books most.
