Every time I read a PJ book I am left wondering how, how does she get me on board with the degradation kink. Somehow, she always manages it.
Poor Ana. My heart hurt for her, especially hearing her inner thoughts during the early training scenes with Valentin and Angelo. I am so glad she got the chance to build herself back up with their support, and Luca. She reminded me of Sofia, in that she was secretly a powerhouse and should be ignored at your own cost.
Her men, hmm Valentin took a while for me to warm up to. We could see his motivation and see him softening towards Ana, but it took a while to show through his actions. I also think he’s probably the harshest of all the men Poppy had written, but that could be my aversion to pain talking. The number of times I flinched reading his parts...more

Some books I feel like I fly through them no matter the page count, others feel like it takes forever. This unfortunately was the latter. The romance between Sera and Ransom didn’t feel fully fleshed out. Like, I got the attraction but I always like to feel the emotions as well. They felt pretty non-existence here. The premise of the book sounded promising. Two guilds, one for thieves, one for assassins. It sounded interesting. I did enjoy the first quarter of the story then it went a little off the rails and I didn’t care anymore. There is a cliffhanger but I’d have to hear great things before I’d decide to pick it up.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and this is my honest review....more

Small-town, surprise baby with a hockey star dad. Ooh, second chance too because they were together in college with the H breaking our FMC’s heart. Trix(Beatrix) and Ren(Dominick Renaldi) reconnect after a doggy snafu and spend an afternoon getting reacquainted. “One and done” as far as Trix is concerned but a positive test means needing to reevaluate her stance with Ren. I liked the story and the scenery sounds to-die-for but for some reason I felt a disconnect with the MC’s. Possibly because I didn’t really warm up to either of them until their date at the farm. That was when I felt we got to see who they really were without all the stress and pressure from everyday life. I have not read any of the other books in this series so that also could have been a factor. I’m interested in the “Graham” parts I got so would be keen to read how that whole situation came about.
Thank you to Valentines PR and the author for the arc and this is my honest review. ...more

Not something I do often. Wow, people were right. Her writing is beautiful. It flows off the page and evokes all the feelings she was writing about. I could feel the ache of self-doubt that Lily suffered, I could feel the first throes of love as their relationship shifted. Reed fell for her, heart and soul. It was so refreshing to read a romance where it wasn’t all about the physical attraction. They were each so enamoured with the others thoughts and feelings. I was captivated. My only issue, and it’s entirely my own because of my age, was being able to relate to Lila. She is on the edge of womanhood and learning her boundaries which sometimes grated me a little. However, I would definitely read this author again.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc of this beautiful book. These are my own thoughts and opinions. ...more

Who wouldn’t want a honeymoon in a Greek villa? Well, possibly not the honeymoon the two couples had here. Emma reluctantly went on the trip to begin with and now hubby Tom is ill. Winston was looking forward to a private honeymoon alone with his wife Melissa, but wasn’t counting on her two teenage daughters being there. Who, by the way are awful. Rosie, owner of the villa has secrets of her own. This was a good read and kept my interest but it wasn’t anything amazing. If you’re a fan of women’s fiction I’m sure you’ll like it.

Unfortunately the witchy powers that be have had enough, and come up with an interesting proposal. Lucinda’s family, trying to help get their magic wires crossed and Lucinda and Benedict have to deal with the consequences. Which forces them to be closer, which forces them to realise maybe they don’t dislike each other like they thought. Overall I had a good time, my one critique is the story felt overly long. It was easy to read and kept my interest piqued....more

Instalust rarely works for me, and unfortunately that is all Tallullah and Burgess had. I’m sure newish readers to smut will love this but eventually, and I’m at this point, you want a little more substance with the shagging. I want to feel the emotional connection, feel the longing they have for each other. I couldn’t find an ounce of it. Perhaps Bailey succumbed to TikTok pressure and wrote a smutty good time, but I hope she goes back to writing couples with heat and heart. ...more
