A modern day Poseidon and Nerites, but make them kind of like mobsters. I loved the idea, it’s a fun and fast read and pretty creatively done. I didn’t mind the cheating but didn’t love Nerites eleventh hour guilt trip at the end. I’m not sure I like the characters enough to care too much about the cliffhanger or what an HEA looks like for these two, but a decent way to spend an hour or two. Rounding up....more

I liked the start, the twister was a fun way to throw these two together and up the intensity of their connection. I’m a fan of insta love romance and Marshall and Daniel are super insta, it very fast to love and commitment. I liked Rose, Daniel’s daughter but didn’t need so much focus on the kid stuff. The dialogue is also quite unique, it didn’t quite work for me as it doesn’t sound how people actually speak. I did appreciate that we avoid the evil ex trope with Jackson, Daniel’s ex and Rose’s other dad. I liked that he’s not a villain and we get a divorced couple trying to do right by their kid. Rounded up to three....more

Ty and Walker have a fun opposite attract romance, with a side of enemies to lovers. Honestly, the enemies part is fairly light and mostly on Ty’s side. I was interestThank you for the audiobook, here is my honest opinion: This was an interesting listen, I think it’s the darkest story I done in audio. I was interested how the narrator would pull off a character like Sully, how they could bring his rage and distinct personality to life. This was compelling, the narrator was able to bring weight and a wide range of emotions to the performance, it’s very well done. Sully’s story is harrowing and horrifying, truly. It’s also intriguing, suspenseful, and the kind of legit dark romance I like escaping into once in a while. These two were pretty fascinating in His Death Bringer and their own story doesn’t disappoint. When Sully’s attention is turned towards Malik you feel the potential for a really bad ending for them, the combination of Sully’s rage and Malik’s secrets creates some amazing suspense. But, I guess, when a psychopath sets his sights on you, it is hard to get free. I loved how these two made all their jagged pieces fit together. Excellent performance and skillful storytelling, this is a kind of romance I really love, equally brutal and beautiful. Loved it! ...more

I loved the first book in the series and this has some things in common. Particularly, I think there’s some excellent world building, the town is full of life and lots of nosy residents. The writing and characters are charming and certainly likable, but I did struggle with the pacing. I love a low angst romance and appreciate that Ryan and Jones do communicate fairly effectively and talk about their past why Ryan left all those ago, loved that. There just isn’t enough interest to sustain this plot for nearly three hundred pages, for me anyway. There are some tired tropes which I don’t care for, like the obligatory awful ex and a kid working through trauma. Unfortunately, neither is very interesting for me. Ryan’s daughter Karla is fine, but gosh, it can feel like her book at times, which many readers will love. For me, it’s way too much kid time and not enough focus romance. It was fun to catch up with Sam and Ryker, and the side characters are a fun time. ———- Thank you for the audiobook, here is my honest opinion: A very charming series, the small town setting is especially well done. This is a good listen if you are looking for a low angst, second chance romance. The narrator does a good job bringing Ryan and Jones to life. It’s light on plot and maybe longer than necessary, with a significant amount of focus on Ryan’s daughter, Karla. I loved getting updates from Sam and Ryker and the side characters also added a bunch of personality. ...more

Rancher Baker suddenly has three new adult half brothers and now has more company than he wants on the ranch his father just left to all four of them. It’s the last thing he wants, but maybe just what he needs- help, family, support. Baker has a lovely romance with nature photographer Hanley, which I really enjoy. They are well matched and I loved seeing Baker slowly thaw to the idea of brothers and a second chance at finding love, he’s such a fun and expressive character to follow. It’s not super focused on romance to me, but I loved the slice of life feel- I enjoyed spending time with Baker. This was a fabulous start, I am itching for Ford, Dodge, and Linc to find their HEA. ...more

Axel is pouring all his love and affection into Riverton’s stray animals and Dalton is crazy charming and astoundingly patient. What’s not to like? These two deserve a big happy ending, I just wish they didn’t make it so hard for themselves. Axel has a real and understandable fear of being abandoned, I really feel for him. However, this was a lot of Axel throwing up “I just do hookups” roadblocks and lots of pining. He’s quite good at it, which makes much of the relationship feel one sided- like Dalton in the only one interested in exploring their potential. I have empathy for Axel and his struggles but it was a bit frustrating to get through. This author always writes with such a fabulous sense of humor, which is present here, but it was cool to also explore a more emotional side with this series. I loved seeing the brothers make strides at repairing their relationship and learning to trust Gray again now that he’s back in Riverton. I would have loved more from the relationship but the world building is excellent and the HEA was nice....more

These characters are likable, they deserve a happy ending but this didn’t quite come together for me. It’s a lot of self sabotage, hiding, and what felt like needless drama. The plot never quite goes anywhere, we don’t really get a payoff and it then, it just kind of ends without a real HEA. ...more

I thought the characters showed real growth and development through the book, that often is missing for me. I loved the world building around the club scene and it does a good job keeping me interested in more from this world. It did read long for me with a lot of focus on the excess partying, drinking, and drug use. I just have a limited appetite for clubbing and all the fun that comes with it, it’s just not super interesting to read personally. I also could have done with less on/off drama between Joe and Finn, and a more development of their relationship. I liked them together, excellent found family vibes, and excellent characters overall, a promising start....more

I love how this author writes hockey, with layered characters, and written with a real depth of emotion. Jesse was so clearly hurting when we meet him in the Stick Side series, the loss of his brother sent him on a course he seems unable to stop or change. That is until he heads back to his hometown and more importantly to his childhood best friend, Parker. It’s not an easy road, but these two are crazy easy to root for and seeing their easy connections return and grow was pretty lovely....more

This cliffhanger, was absolutely infuriating, I will not be reading what comes next. Honestly, I don’t think Luca deserves Noel, he is often cruel and frequently selfish. I didn’t like Luca which makes rooting for them to be together a definite challenge and to end this with such a tired old romance trope was pretty disappointing....more

The authors have really delivered two of the most likable and endearing characters in Mike and Dennis. Best friend’s brother is a favorite trope of mine and this one is filled with big fuzzy emotions and some amazing side characters. One of my favorite aspects was the families, both Mike and Dennis have loving and strong support systems. It’s also a beautiful and raw depiction of grief. Mike and his mother still feel the loss of his dad acutely, which really comes across in the writing. I loved how his mother jumps in to prevent Mike from making a big mistake. I loved that she got the chance to maybe undue some of the damage her all encompassing grief caused her son. The moms (and dad) show up for their kids in this book, which was such a wonderful change of pace! Romantic, steamy, and really beautiful, loved it a lot....more

I liked the characters, Yardley and Johnnie are generally easy to like and when they are together, I liked their chemistry. It also has two of my favorite character types, teacher and professional athlete. However, there were a few this I didn’t enjoy. The early chapters are a flurry of character name, it felt excessive and made it harder to dig into the plot. My main challenge was Carly, Johnnie’s girlfriend. She is another awful “in the way” girlfriend, a romance device I have grown to hate. This felt mostly like an exercise in waiting - waiting around for Johnnie to do something, to let go of the girlfriend he doesn’t even seem to like. Why keep her around so long, she is wildly unpleasant and it definitely doesn’t make Johnnie look great either. ...more

This author is amazing at creating fully realized and very grounded settings. It makes is so easy to escape into the gritty seaside town, you feel the more dangerous elements encroaching on the tourist town. I really felt for these two, a teen pregnancy cost Freddie and Nathan a chance to try for more than friendship. When Nate returns, you can feel the longing- it pretty sad as these two still have an undeniable connection. I was definitely rooting for them. The glimpses of Freddie and Nate actually together are very effective, the fear and longing is well done. I just wanted more, with so much angst and loss, I also want to see the payoff. I wanted to get more time with Freddie, Nate, and Alfie figuring out how to create something great together.
