I enjoyed this story and was completely invested in how things would work out for Elena. I think that she showed exactly how strong she is in this novel. There was a change in narration from the previous book but I adjusted quickly and thought that this narrator did a great job with the story. I look forward to picking up book 3 soon....more

This was fantastic! I was a fan of the first book in this series but I have to say that I liked this book even more. I was thrilled that the book opened with a summary of the first book which really helped me get my mind back into this world that Emiko lives in. Once I started reading this one, I didn’t want to stop because I just had to know how things would work out in the end.
Emiko Soong now serves as the Sentinel of San Francisco, which is a huge responsibility. A murder investigation takes her to Tokyo where her family resides. I feel like we really get to know Emiko in this installment and I grew to like her more and more as the story unfolded. Emiko’s brother, Tatsuya, is about to enter his tourney which is very important to the clan. The story was very exciting with plenty of action woven throughout.
Natalie Naudus does an excellent job with the narration of this book. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators because she does such a good job of bringing stories to life. I found her voice to be very pleasant and appreciate the various voices that she used to represent the characters in this story. I do believe that her performance heightened my enjoyment of this book.
I would recommend this series to others. This is the second book in the Phoenix Hoard series which I do recommend reading in order. This installment was an excellent read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read more of this incredible series.

This was good! I have read and enjoyed several of Rachel Harrison’s books so I was eager to get started with her newest release. I am generally a fan of vampire stories and couldn’t wait to read her take on the genre. I couldn’t imagine dealing with everything that Sloan faces in this novel and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out for her. I found this novel to be fun, entertaining, and thought-provoking.
Sloan’s husband books a trip for her with her best friend, Naomi, to celebrate her birthday. Naomi wants Sloan to live a little and talks her into going to a party with her that gets out of control. Neither of their lives will ever be the same. Sloan and Naomi’s friendship is tested, and they learn to navigate their new, bloodier, lifestyle. Sloan grows a lot as a character throughout this story and there is even a bit of romance to keep things very interesting.
Brittany Pressley breathes life into this story with her excellent narration. I have listened to quite of few of her performances and she is quickly becoming a favorite narrator. I liked the voices that she used for the various characters and I felt that she was able to add emotion to the reading. I am certain that her narration added to my enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this book to others. Both Sloane and Naomi face a lot of challenges in this story and I enjoyed watching them navigate them together. The story had enough action to keep the pages flying which made the book hard to put down. I can’t wait to read more of Rachel Harrison’s work in the future!

It had all of the elements needed to make it the perfect shorter listen. And just because it was short didn't mean that it was a small story. Felicia takes a call while volunteering at a suicide prevention hotline that will change her life. She gives the girl her phone number and gets very involved in her story, going as far to investigate things on her own when it looks like her own family may be connected. I couldn't wait to see how things worked out. The narration was spectacular, making this the perfect quick listen.

I enjoyed this book! The spice level was a lot higher than I expected and the STEM focus was less than anticipated but I liked the book for what it was. Rue and Eli first encounter each other after finding each other on an app and plan to hook up. Things don’t go as expected that night and they don’t plan to run into each other again. Plans change the next morning when it turns out that Eli is part of the group taking over the company where Rue works.
The chemistry between this pair was undeniable. They can’t seem to stay away from each other even though they are on opposite sides of the takeover. Rue has never been with anyone more than once so the pull towards Eli is new to her. As they spend more time together, they get to know each other and grow closer. I felt there was more going on with the company and couldn’t wait to discover the real story.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Callie Dalton and Jason Clarke did a great job with the narration. I thought both narrators did a great job of bringing these characters to life and I liked that their voices complimented each other. There is a lot of spice in this book and I felt both narrators were able to bring the right amount of emotion to those scenes. I found this to be a rather quick listen simply because I didn’t want to put the book down. I am certain that their performances heightened my enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this book to others. This one is a bit spicier than what I remember of her other books but I think it worked. The characters were well-matched and I appreciated that we got to see the male point of view in this story. I look forward to reading more of this talented author’s work in the future.

I had such a good time with this book! After reading quite a few positive reviews for this book, I decided to give it a go myself, and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Emmy and Luke were fantastic characters and I wanted nothing more than to see them find their happily ever after. Once I started listening to this gem, I did not want to stop!
Emmy moved back home to her family’s ranch after a riding accident left her unable to get back on a horse. This is a big problem since she races horses for a living. Luke is her brother’s best friend and has always been almost like a member of the family. When Luke offers to help her get over her fears so that she can ride again, she takes him up on that offer. The chemistry between this pair is palpable and they can’t resist each other for very long.
These two were perfect together. Even though they have known each other for years, I felt like they truly learned to understand each other once they spent some time together. It was great to see them fall for one another. I liked that they were able to help each other work through some things and stood up for each other when necessary. The secondary characters were incredibly well-developed and added a lot to the story. I can’t wait to see more of them in future books in the series.
Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter did a fantastic job with the narration of this romance. I thought that they were both able to bring their characters to life which added to my enjoyment. Both narrators had very pleasant voices which complimented each other’s very nicely. I thought that they were able to add just the right amount of emotion to their reading which helped to heighten the listening experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. This was a fun romance with characters that were easy to fall for. I cannot wait to read more of this entertaining series.
