There were parts that reminded me of Practical Magic, at least with the family curse, but there just wasn't enough witchcraft going on. If you're going to have a book about a female line of witches, then there better be magic in it and there just wasn't. ...more

I did like that iMeh...I really wanted to like it, but I was just bored through the majority of it and was actually surprised I managed to finish it. I did like that it was written in third person, but the dual points of view were kind of ridiculous since it was in third person and Daniel's only chapters were about what was going on with the government. I more then likely will not be reading the next one in this series. ...more

There wasn't a character in this book that I didn't care about or have some kind of strong feeling toward, negative and positive. Yes, the ending got a bit unbelievable with the guardianship story line, but I'm choosing to look past it and just go with it. Fantastic book!...more

I couldn't help but care more about Lynn then Lucy simply because I loved the first book and really wanted something happy to happen to Lynn. Unfortunately I did not get what I wanted, but there is still a slim (I'm talking minuscule) chance for something for her future. As to Lucy, she was so likable with a clear voice that you couldn't help but root for her and want everything that she wanted for herself. Where Lynn is hard, Lucy is soft, but not naive. They are vastly different, but that's because they were raised in this bleak, harsh world differently and it shaped them into the people they are. Without giving away any huge plot points, I was semi happy with what happened for both characters, but I couldn't help but want more. However, I completely understand the author was realistic in a future where water is scarce that you couldn't help but admire her writing.
