Their attraction and romance is not doing it for me at all. She hates him but then she’s about to have sex with him several times. I’m all for paranormal uncontrollable mate bond attraction but they didn’t make me feel that, it just felt super random and annoying that she was so wishy washy and not standing on business. Also random but why are we calling dinosaurs dragons? It’s not a cute quirky alien thing just use a totally different name, please. Maybe there will turn out to be some earth link and it’ll make more sense but for now exactly zero questions have been answered about “Zerra”. This also took me way longer to read than it should have bc it’s actually quite short and ends very abruptly at 90% on a cliffhanger that felt like a chapter ending more than a book end. Fuck all has happened too lol but these lazy money grab duologies or trilogies or whatever this is going to be usually have strange break points and could’ve just been all one book ...more

The friends to lovers wasn’t that exciting, Ruthie’s hangups about being a clone were annoying and drawn out. I like a scared, scarred, heroine who’s not afraid to lean on the hero but for some reason she mostly annoyed me. Kaz was pretty cute though. Now most of the crew of clones seems to be settling onto Risda III to open a bar. I’ve liked some of the Risda books so seeing some of the human farmer women with ex-space pirate clones could be a fun change ...more

This took me forever to finish, but that was mostly life’s fault. As evidenced by my rating I actually really enjoyed this book, I just want to prioritize reading more and I actually have a few anticipated new releases soon so I’m excited.
Anyway, The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders is my favorite book of hers and one of my favorite books period so anything that even comes close is going to be an immediate read for me. This had a similar marriage of convenience plot line except Fern knew what she was getting into. It also has one of my favorite tropes surprise pregnancy so it really resembled TUW with the whole saddled with a wife/don’t want the baby scenario. Cade was an asshole, but I like that ...more

So I was going So I decided to give this a try because I liked another book in this series and most importantly goodreads said it was only 157 pages. So I was going into this thinking I was getting a novella and for the plot/world building the blurb promised that was plenty for me. Unfortunately GR lied and this book is actually 434 pages which I personally think is way too long for this story. But once I realized the percentage I was at didn’t make sense for the length of the book I was too far in and decided to just keep going. Overall it was interesting but I’m not a big fan of this more fleshed out werewolf world building. It was all a bit too random and strange and I didn’t like the explanation for the scent thrown in at the last second. Him being committed to leaving the whole book didn’t really bother me like I saw in some reviews because at a certain point him leaving wasn’t just for revenge but for everyone’s safety so couldn’t begrudge him that although I think the whole issue with the bad guy was too dragged out and again just like random acts of aggression that didn’t make sense and then a quick remedy at the end. I did like the book overall though so that’s why I gave it 3 stars. The romance, the ranch life, the cute dogs and supporting characters were all good and I mostly enjoyed this book, but at the same time I wouldn’t really recommend it. There’s way better shifter books out there....more

The main characters had some Capulet and Montague style family rivalry and the hate for each other to go along with it. Regardless when Reed shows up injured during a blizzard Abbie’s good manners force her to nurse him back to health and they both finally get to know each other despite the prejudice their parents instilled in them. Cute read, nice and wintery with some good Christmas-y vibes....more
It was cute, but if you’re not going to have an epilogue in the book and then you make people pay for a short story collection I’d want more 2.5 stars
It was cute, but if you’re not going to have an epilogue in the book and then you make people pay for a short story collection I’d want more than this haha. It didn’t really answer any lingering questions, but it was a sweet glimpse of them stress free and in love so I liked that. It felt like the perfect time for a heart to heart, apologies, etc. But as usual, things were left unsaid ...more
I enjoyed that. The reason I don’t rate these books higher is because I’m not a big fan of the writing. It’s very utilitarian and sparse. I w3.5 stars
I enjoyed that. The reason I don’t rate these books higher is because I’m not a big fan of the writing. It’s very utilitarian and sparse. I want way more description and feeling. As an example, there was a scene where someone dies and there was barely any description of struggle, pleading, emotion, like… I want more! The reason I round up to 4 stars though is because I do like the characters and it’s a very compelling read that keeps me turning the pages. I stayed up so late to read this and would’ve finished it at an ungodly hour last night but I left the last chapter so I’d have something to read this morning and so I wouldn’t try to write a review in the middle of the night ...more

I do like that she switched up the expected pairing for the final couples and it looks like this is the end of the Ice Home series. That was interesting and kept my attention quite well. For the first time in a long time I wanted to stay up late to read and I finished it in a day so that was nice. That being said this was very much a book 1…not a lot happens because gotta save all the fun for the next books or they’d be boring, right? Laurent has secrets, Damen has secrets and nothing has been revealed yet so not much has advanced. Laurent’s reasons for being the way he is are quite obvious from early on though so at least I’m in the know even if beautiful brute Damen is a bit slow on the uptake. There’s not even a hint of romance or tension or fondness between the two main characters yet so it’s a real slow burn which I wasn’t really expecting with words like “pleasure slave” in the blurb. There was a lot of debauchery and horrific shit going on but not an iota between the main characters. I wish there had been anything smutty at all in this book but seems like there will be a better chance for that next book with some forced proximity so that’s something to look forward to. I’m curious to see how the next few books unfold especially Laurent’s reaction to Damen’s true identity ...more
