i learned this was a debut novel for this author and i think she did a wonderful job.
although this isn’t a dark romance (it has *some* dark themes) it surely grips you because of the banter, angst and sexual tension between rosie and rush — it makes you giggle and kick your feet and want to keep reading
rush is JP, obsessed and honestly so fucking romantic it made me swoon and imo, he is the one that makes the book what it is.
i had fun reading this and it was a great palate cleanser if you want a lighter read, low spice, slow burn and angsty romance.
now, my “issues” and the reason i’m giving this a 4 star:
• the bigger plot gets put into the background and it never comes back, even in the epilogue — where’s her dad? what is he planning?
• the mc aspect — it gets pretty confusing in the beginning about rush’s MC ties and i wish we could’ve gotten more information out it, especially being specific about the clubhouse name (which gets mentioned by the end of the book); maybe a few flashback scenes from his time as a brother would help, as well as making his age older in a way?
• the HEA was not long enough imo… it took the whole book for them to be together, so the least we could’ve had was a bit more groveling and some extra scenes from the epilogue or something; i also would’ve liked to see rush’s conversarion with gage and how his job will work.
in a way, i feel like this could’ve easily been a duet because we had a very big amount of information, side characters and bigger plot line that entwined.
not my favorite candice book which is a shame, because i normally love them.
the insta love between callie and blake was kinda forced, as well as theirnot my favorite candice book which is a shame, because i normally love them.
the insta love between callie and blake was kinda forced, as well as their initial connection… especially blake’s overr th top concern, i would have kicked the man out of my house so fucking fast.
i think the fact that we have two big plot points of tension and rescuing is what bothered me the most.
imo the one with the MC was unnecessary and felt forced… there was no need to show us reign and her men.
tate was a good addition to it though.
i felt that from 70% onwards is when the book really got good and had a good flow… before that, something vital is missing. ...more
i was deadass scared to open this book and read it because that cliffie was harsh and the men were losing it already
needless to say, this book w4.5/5

needless to say, this book was done impossibly well! i mentioned in another review i kinda dread last books in series bc they can be a hit or a total miss and this was a fucking hit.

i can't believe we got to the last book in this series! this was such a great journey to be on and marie has evolved a lot as an author and i'm 4.5/5
i can't believe we got to the last book in this series! this was such a great journey to be on and marie has evolved a lot as an author and i'm so proud to see this on the pages i've read.
normally, i get quite anxious when it gets to the last book in any series because it can go wrong in so many ways... and i had my fair share of disappointment, so i was teeeeense picking this book up haha
however, i think marie did such an AMAZING job: the pace was great, the action was also on point and kept me on my toes, the angst and all the emotions this brought out (especially with drystan and caed!) and so many twists and turns! i can honestly say it was an ending that was worth waiting for.
i didn't feel like marie missed anything with any of the characters - maybe more time for jaro and more time between drystan and rosie cause i'm biased (always) - but overall i am so happy with what i've read and how it ended.
also, drystan will always be my man. ALWAYS. thank you for bringing him to life, queen.

it’s a good and emotional story with really good mmcs and a broken fmc that desperately needs help
she is written with depth but i feel like the mmcs didn’t have the same atributed to them… it all feels kinda loose and i don’t understand what they do, how they met and how old are they now.
it needs more world building imo and an added depth to the male main characters as well as more moments between them before adults too.
and this book feels confusing in a way because the paranormal aspects are not shown in the mmc povs and the contemporary is too contemporary to be a paranormal if that makes sense
again, in my opinion, this should’ve been a contemporary and not paranormal… the paranormal takes away from what could’ve been a pretty great story of growth, love and found family.
i really love this story and how emotionally intense it is when reading it.

the guys are so interesting and make the book shine — rage is a goddamn asshole, rebel is flirty and fun but vulnerable and ruin is my whole personality lol i love him.
so the tropes for this really made me interested in reading and i was expecting a “traditional” mafia romance book but that’s not the c- arc review -
so the tropes for this really made me interested in reading and i was expecting a “traditional” mafia romance book but that’s not the case with this one.
the mafia aspect is barely a blip in this and honestly the mmc feels like he’s robin hood and not the heir of a big crime enterprise — barely any violence, he doesn’t deal drugs and despise them, treats the fmc like a princess from day one and we don’t see more of what this mafia entails really… it’s just a side piece of information for why giovanni carries a gun and give orders.
it’s too fast paced with little to no world building — you get thrown in the story right away and it’s mainly about the characters relationships (which feels forced and out of the blue) so we don’t get many information about them prior to what had them meeting and how their world looked like before, mainly giovanni since he’s capo but apparently had a whole life before returning to the family’s business… they felt too superficial and i didn’t connect with them.
also imo the characters have 0 to no depth…nina, the fmc, if explored better would be a complicated, traumatized but strong and determined woman that i could appreciate and relate to, but in the end she comes off as just a too stupid to live girl and all i wanted to do was to slap her. giovanni, the mmc, is the mafia boss but barely acts like it and treat the girl like a kid.
side characters are important — introduce them right and explore them to their fullest potential and they can add so much value to the story, especially to represent friendships and to give us new point of views of the fmc or the mmc while with different people and not each other. here the mom, the right hand and the auntie barely appear in this.
the idea of the book is a good one but imo not well executed so it fell flat.
so, i really enjoyed reading this book. the writing is pretty damn good and it easily grips your attention and it makes you wanna keep re~ arc review

mareena is a great fmc — she’s not a badass and doesn’t pretend to be one but she’s not a doormat either, a great inbetween i’d say…. she’s able to see what many can’t and doesn’t seem to think she’s different, just crazy, until the undoing happens
the mmcs are pretty swoon worthy and funny — we’re introduced to some of them but only two we get to see more of (for now)
a few things made me rate this a 4 star and not 5:
• i thought that it takes way too much time for the guys to be inserted into the story, i get that we get to see of her life and what changed since the undoing, but i just wished that this “stale” part was sped up a bit
• although we get glimpses and some explanations for what happened all those years ago on earth, i feel like it maybe needs more? it mentions demons as a whole group and not a species, so a vampire is a demon too? as a wolf is?
• i feel like mareena has too many inner ramblings at times which take away from the story… especially after the 40% mark where we get many more interactions between her and the guys, which imo should be more of the focus.
• her aunt’s name is said like a bunch of unnecessary times… i dont get why it shouldn’t be “my aunt”? honest question
overall this is a great first book and the last 20% is definitely angsty and intriguing, especially the cliffie which i loved haha ...more
