First time reading this author duo and it was a good read. Hazel and Kagan sucked. They were so juvenile and entitled for their big ole age and it was off putting. I wanted to shake some sense into them as well. There were plenty of twists along the way and don’t trust ANYONE in this story at all. Reading this story also gave me a better understanding as to why people end up getting scammed and conned. ...more

Brooklyn was a hot selfish ass mess and had no concept of loyalty. NONE! At one point I wanted to reach into the book and throttle her because baby what are you doing? The killer definitely took me by surprise especially since Brooklyn had made a lot of enemies along the way. This was my first time reading Tracy Brown and I will be checking out her backlog titles.

After reading and enjoying The Lavender House, I couldn’t wait to catch up with Andy. I really enjoyed getting more of a backstory when it came to Andy and especially his past ties in the Navy as well. The mystery aspect of the story definitely took me my surprise with twists and turns! I legit gasped at one point while reading. Also the person who I thought was behind it all was actually innocent and that was very refreshing. As always I love the theme of found family, community and a sense of belonging. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!...more

As much as I wanted to love this book it didn’t work out in my favor at all. I found the story to be slow and the ending wasn’t fulfilling. I paired this story with the audio and that’s pretty much the only reason I was able to complete this book. I have heard great things about Burn Down, Rise Up also by this author and I do want to check it out as well. ...more

As soon as I got the approval for this audiobook, I put my current read to the side and I don’t regret it at all. This story was so good and I finished this audiobook in two days. This book touched on several social themes and issues, but not in an overwhelming way. There was one scene with Titus and his mother towards the end that made me emotional. As someone who has questioned their faith many times, I understand his viewpoint. This read was heavy at times due to the subject matter, but I’m glad I stuck with this story. Adam Lazarre-White did a great job with this narration as always.

This book has been marketed as a thriller, but it’s not at all. So with that out of the way I did enjoy the story. The story started off strong, the middle did drag a little and the ending was good. There was one twist that got me and that made me so happy. I actually cheered at the part when it was revealed. This is my second novel by Jennifer Hillier and she continues to impress me with her storytelling.

I really enjoyed the first part of the story. I was invested and couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out. Not going to lie the middle of the story started to have a women’s fiction vibe and I felt the main plot was pushed to the side. Once we got back on track things started to pick up main plot wise, but I did feel the ending was a little rushed. Overall, I did enjoy this story and this is a solid debut novel by Hannah Morrissey and I’m excited to see what she writes next! #TeamKole IYKYK

The book started off very slow for me and I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue. Then it picked up once Robbie steps on the scene. As the story went along it became predictable and I really had to suspend reality for this plot be believable. I ended up skimming the last few chapters and the way it unfolded was decent. Then I got to the middle of the book and I felt like the story lost steam and it was pretty much a journey of Wren trying to come to grips with her childhood trauma. The last part of the book did pick of steam and held my attention, but I did feel some type of way about the ending. Overall, I would read another book by this author....more
