The main plot device had me intrigued, but it was messy and left me feeling more confused than satisfied. I also never super connected with the characters. So, while I did overall enjoy reading this one. It was just an average and probably forgettable story for me....more

Amy left her hometown of Autumboro, New Hampshire years ago after a heart-crushing break-up with her childhood best friend and first love, Kit Parker. She became a horror novelist and was engaged to be married, that is until she found out her fiancé was cheating on her...ouch. Now that her grandfather has driven through the local Dunkin Donuts (and I do mean the building, not the drive through), Amy must return home to care for him and discover that she may have left more of her heart in Autumboro than she first realized.
This was just the sweetest little story and such a pleasant surprise. If you're look for a short and cozy fall romance, you can't go wrong here. Beth Labonte nailed the fall atmosphere and Hallmark movie vibes. Did I mention this was actually adapted into a Hallmark movie, too? Additionally, I think this book would be a great alternative for those looking for the cozy, fall vibes of The Pumpkin Spice Café but shorter and with no spice or mystery.
I gave this one 4 stars and look forward to reading the follow up, Maple Sugar Crush, in November....more

Both characters were immediately ones I fell for. There were so many things to love about this one, it's hard to narrow it down. But, I'd say if you love:

I adore Violet, Grandma Daisy, Emerson the tuxedo cat, and Faulkner the crow. I could see myself walking down the streets of their cozy little town and browsing the shelves of Charming Books. So far this has been a 5-star series for me, and I'm loving the direction the story is taking. I can't wait to pick up Murders and Metaphors in January!...more
