My heart burst with warmth watching Skye and Remmy growing closer. It has all the angst, drama, some action, dark elements, and love. Book 3 can't come soon enough!! ...more

I absolutely love Remmy and Skye. Remmy is sweet, protective, and a great Alpha. And that's saying something because a lot of the Alpha's in this book are evil bastards. But Remmy? He is perfection. He listens, he's kind, and he always puts his pact first.
Skye's mother was the daughter of the current Alpha years ago and was set to marry another Alpha from a different pack. But that all changes when everyone finds out she is with child and refuses to tell who the father is. Her father disowns her and makes her an omega sending her to the omega housing (if you wanna call it that). Now this is where it just gets awful. The pack treats the omega's like shit. They rape them- thinking that they're whores and are there to serve them for their needs. And it just gets worse.
Now, I don't want to spoil to much so let's just say one day Skye comes "home," sees a wolf raping an omega, and kills him. Her mother's best friend helps her and her mom escape to another pact. Thus, Skye gets sent to college, meets some new friends and Remmy.
This book was absolute perfection! Although I cried in their first book, I think I cried way more in this one. (View SHonestly, I don't have words...

Flame is one of the most beautiful, heartbroken, raw, and unforgettable characters I feel I will ever encounter. Flame never fit in. He didn't know how to express himself, understand how to read people's facial expressions, emotions, or social cues. His father was an evil bastard. He would get mad, beat him, call him an evil retard, and Flame didn't even know what he was doing wrong! His father takes him to their pastor who tortures him and let snakes bite and hurt him, believing that if a snake bit you, you had evil in you. When that doesn't work, his father takes him home and locks him in the cellar, beating and bleeding him while raping him to get the flames out. Flame is a broken man, a man so damaged he thinks his touch kills and hurts. He always feels flames under his skin, he is always cutting himself trying to get them out. Reliving daily the abuse of his father in his head til it drives him crazy. Flame wants Maddie, but he doesn't want to hurt her with his touch. Maddie is his and he will do everything in his power to protect her even if he can never really be with her.
Maddie, having escaped from The Order, a religious cult that marked her as a cursed devil's whore since she was young because of her beauty, lives in terror. But that all changes when she meets Flame. Flame who killed her rapist, Brother Moses, since she was 6 years old. Everyday Maddie fantasies about helping him be free of his demons as he freed her of hers. Maddie draws the life she wishes she could have with Flame, a life free of fear, and with touch and love. Since neither her or Flame can stand to be touched she knows she can never have her dream of having a love with Flame, so she must be content with watching him and her art. But when some unknown thing triggers a mental break in Flame, and no one can reach him, Maddie knows she must go to him and try before it's to late.
“I used to wonder how two people—one broken girl, and one broken boy—could ever move on from their dark and tortured pasts. But now I know. Together, that’s how. They fight their way through… together.”
Maddie and Flame. How do I put their relationship into words? All I know is that they have gone through hell and back and through their road to recovery, they found each other.
I found myself crying so much while reading this one. Together, Flame and Maddie have endured things when they were young children that were so horrific I actually wished that I could jump into the story and hug the shit outta them!!!
Tillie Cole! Thank you for writing this beautiful story! I am SO glad I had the honor of discovering and reading Flame and Maddie's story! I would definitely recommend it, but warn you that you need a couple of tissues, because you'll most likely shed a few tears!...more
