This book was well written and the primary focus was the Primal acts and needs of Locke and Storee exploring herself. The Vault would have been the perfect setting for that exploration but it wasn't used for these two.
There were a few good plot twists that had my jaw dropped and the spice was a solid 3.5.

Seraphine was sixteen when her world was destroyed and it only got worse. She was trained to be a Lolita Assassin and for five years her "father" and "brothers" kept her locked in a basement chipped and shock collared to keep her in line while also holding her brother's life dangling in front of her.
Leroi is a hired assassin who was brought in to destroy the Capello family, and when he did, when he searched the basement looking for a special weapon, he came across a young, blonde haired blue eyed angel, collared and chained in the basement. His only rule, no women or children, they're innocent.
Yeah needless to say this book takes revenge to a whole new torturous extreme and I was in for all of it. There's so many moving pieces, and puzzle within puzzles than there wasn't a dull moment.
Revenge, torture, twists and turns, innocence that's tainted by darkness, and a beautifully dark love story that has just as many bumps and bruises as it does turns. It's dark, morally dark, spicy, and so much more.
Definitely read the trigger and content warnings because it get pretty gruesome at times. Absolutely loved this story and cannot wait for the next book within this same world!...more

Ava is from the stereotypical from side of the tracks. Grew up in a trailer park with an addict mother who did anything or anyone she could to get her next fix. Her father was in and out of jail and this last stint was his third strike.
Ava works to not only help keep a roof over her head and all the base necessities but to also avoid being home and potentially getting caught up in her mother's negative orbit. She manages to save up enough money by doing cam work to buy a car and have a small cushion to get situated away from her small town worries.
Gage is the Golden boy and Asher is the black sheep, but the two have been best friends since they were young and untainted by the life they've been raised in.
The two men decide to make a bet in regards to Ava and the rest unfolds in the pages of this story of twists, turns, betrayal, and running from a past that refuses to let go. The dynamic between Asher and Gage, and Asher and Ava were definitely my favorite.
Asher's need to tie him and Ava together was endearing, in the sense that Ava accepted him as he was and didn't want anything from him that he wasn't willingly and obsessively giving to her.
I wish there was more in depth interactions that lead to how and why the boys were the way they were. The love story and spice left me wanting more. I really hope we'll see more of these three characters because I can't help but feel like their story hasn't been completely told....more

Chris Groveton came back from the Marines and took on the role of Dean as the start of his revenge against a father he would never live up to and a step brother who ended up with everything that should have gone to a "true" Groveton.
His plan doesn't fully come together until his step niece, Jazz applies to his college and is awarded a full scholarship. Which in Chris' eyes are the lowest of low in his school. But instead of denying her entry HD sees it as his opportunity to draw her in, wreck her, destroy her step dad, and finally get his revenge.
Jazz was raised by a helicopter mom and started college as a shielded naive inexperienced young woman. Until her step uncle steps in to teach and guide her. But not in a good way.
The build up in the book is amazing. It's a rollercoaster of push and pull between Chris' need for revenge and the feelings and guilt that wage war against each other.
My only critique was how fast the ending came about and resolved. 97% if the book is about their building of Daddy, sub, little relationship and when the rug gets pulled it's done and resolved quickly and I felt a bit rushed. But it didn't take away from the story just made me feel a sort of way with the ending.
I was happy to see the men from Psycho series make a brief appearance. Definitely check the trigger warnings because the hot and cold Dean pushes a lot of boundaries!!

There was only one aspect that I figured would happen, but the rest of the book has left me in a tailspin of emotions. I didn't expect that ending...Just WOW!!!

This story has so much spice, but it works with the plot and without the constant need and desire I think it would've fallen flat. There's trauma, secrets, betrayal, and twists and turns that made this book easy go read and devoured it in a few hours.
The trigger and content warnings should definitely be read because not only does the book's FMC suffer from a mental health disorder, explicit spice, but also a few others that could be upsetting to another reader....more

Felix is bi and wants to explore things in a secure secretive setting so he requests a Santa and his two male elves as part of his fantasy.
There is something about Felix that drew me in. I don't know if it was his struggle with these feelings, the need to relinquish control, or the strong but slightly broken vibes he gives off. Either way this is a "cute" snowed in fantasy that was supposed to end upon scene completion but snowstorm had other ideas forcing Felix to spend more time and unable to runaway as quickly as he wanted.
This is a MM+ brief look into these men's life and their stories but since it's a short submission for the anthology, you get pulled in and left waiting for more. Check trigger and content warnings there's a few off page events that happen and the intense interactions during the fantasy....more

The spice is off the charts but that aside this heart wrenching tidbit had me hot under the color and in tears by the last page. Dean, Tate, Miles, and Everly's snowed in weekend reunites Dean and Miles in a chance meeting. They were friends but since Miles was leaving for college and didn't know how to deal with let alone understand his feelings.
This is a MM, MF, MMFM, and any other combination you can think of as a combination where 2 couples who are secure in their relationships also acknowledge there are more ways than one to find happiness and I can't wait until their story is told completely....more

In their true unique form, these two Authors have created a short story of what led to the making of the MC and left me wanting so much more of their story. I've read the 1st two books in this series and even though this is a short novella they were able to pack so much into it that I wish there was more.
The start of their love story is brutal, from a forced wedding to being sent to prison, Cara was born into a world that she was a commodity to be traded to the highest bidder. She was raised knowing what her place in life was to be and after witnessing what her sister had gone through, she had a fire buried deep inside her that as the book progressed so did her dominant side that kept Rocco on his toes.
Rocco was part of the Diamond Crew that were a group of not good men but better than the men that they were taking down for dealing in the skin trade. Rocco was put in place to protect Cara and get her out of the situation she was being sold into but for three years she had no idea of the true nature of her husband and was determined to make his life miserable until she was able to get away or become a widow.
Her spunky attitude and his no nonsense are the perfect storm that when they finally came together created an unbreakable power house, in this book. It's the perfect introduction into the early days of a lot of the characters that show up in the Cruz King MC series. I look forward to book three as well as reading a few more of the novellas included in this book....more

Having said that, it's a strong storyline about a woman who grew up as the Preacher's daughter but could never measure up. Most of her upbringing and hardships from her home life happen off page but alluded to enough that her parents were definitely not practicing what they preach. As an adult, her less sheltered friend brings her to a club called "The Playground" where it's a place for Daddy Doms and bratty or princess subs go to meet. It's there that Pierce falls hard and fast for the curvy woman who's strong on the outside but has those pieces inside that are broken.
Their love story is cute. For me the spice was 2.5 again not heavy on the interactions but enough to get the idea of how he cherished her.
They're both betrayed by people that are close to them and that's where things for me became rushed. Two days, flash ahead to months later with brief descriptions of the torment but enough to understand why things happen.
Overall a decent book, especially if you're looking for something darker but not pitch black. Definitely read the trigger and content warnings because the events that take place and briefly described could be triggering....more

So the basic overview, this book is a Mafia Dark Romance that's set in an area that's been split into 4 sections, each ran by a founding family.
The families are distinguished with Bear, Fox, Wolf, and Bull. Each in control of East, West, South, and North side respectively. The east side is in shambles because the family left, West is managing at keeping the peace, South side leader is buried in the casinos of his land, and that leaves the North with its shiny new buildings.
Strauss runs the North but also has his hands in whether the other areas succeed or perish. He controls everything and is determined to keep his control.
Max, Bear, moves home with his sister Ari, to reclaim his birthright as the head of the East side and bring it back to a thriving community. But everything has a cost and as the book went on, some of the prices are extremely steep and may cause more trouble than help.
Livia is the sister of Cal who is the leader of the Fox/West side and Max has been trying to kiss Livia for years.
This series is definitely different than Kitty's others and I went in expecting something similar and while I was disappointed at the slow burn and the build-up in the beginning, I'm happy to say I'm glad I pushed through the world development that added to the character s' development. There's plenty of Mafia style action, and the push and pull relationship between Max and Liv was almost frustrating at times but as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.
Be sure to check trigger and content warnings because there's quite a few on and off page situations that could be triggering. There's some spice and a whole lot of build up and colorful explanations of said build up but it adds to the back and forth. Revenge, action, secrets, and obsessions are just a few of the main drivers in this book and I look forward to seeing how everything plays out because there's a whole bunch of questions I'm speculating the answers and outcomes.
