This book actually has two stories, it is two separate cozy mysteries. One of the main characters is a ghost, adding a paranormal flare to the story.
I enjoyed the characters. It was an odd mixture of contemporary and historical. Andre is a teacher in the here and now. Freddie is a gay (“cake eater”) socialite from the Roaring 20s, bringing in the historical effect to the story…not to mention the lingo! Together they had to figure out if and how a blooming romance would even work, even if it is the modern world. PS: I loved the reference to how the Republician party has changed since the 1920s!
The stories bring together a colorful cast of ancillary characters that you learn more and more about as the stories. The mystery is fast-paced enough that you will not get bored with it, but not too complex that you are head-scratching or suspending belief.
The romance….yes it is a cute developing relationship. I found myself rooting for Freddie in the first story. The sexual parts of the novel are “fade to black”, so it is not really graphic in that department.
A Forewarning… I truly enjoyed the books. I will call out a possible trigger to some. In the second story, Country House, one of the ancillary characters was physically abused as a child by his adopted brother. The story does not go into graphic detail but is part of the storyline. Personally, I think it was well written and handled with grace.
The Bottomline… This was one that I am glad to have had the chance to read! Two fairly quick stories that kept my attention between the characters and the mystery. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

What I Liked… This is the second book in the Dragon Hunters series. I will admit upfront, I loved this book over Dragon Hunter’s Son. Well, and Dragon What I Liked… This is the second book in the Dragon Hunters series. I will admit upfront, I loved this book over Dragon Hunter’s Son. Well, and Dragon Hunter’s Son was my favorite dragon book, until now.
The book is a continuation of the first novel but focusing on a different character. Tris, the shepherd from the first book, grows up and sets out in search of a dragon. Not to hunt and kill, but to get to know and to fly with. I enjoyed the characters. Hanna really brings them to life and makes you root for them. She incorporates flaws into them, just like a person in real life.
Hanna does an excellent job of world-building. She describes the place and relationships and scenes in detail, but not to the point where you are bored or seems to throw off the storyline.
The romance….yes there are some hot scenes in the book. I liked personally how the relationship development was a bit of a choatic start, stop, on and off situation. Mixed feelings and fear plaguing the main characters…well until one of them came to their senses.
It is a happily ever after ending, with some clear threads left open for future novels in the series.
The Bottomline… So, Hanna Dare has a special place in my heart as she was one of the very first authors to embrace me when I started Book Gemz. Despite that, Chasing Wings would be on my recommend list anyway. It is a great story, great world-building, relatable characters, and of course: DRAGONS. The bad part: Now, I am chomping at the bit for the next book in the series!
Thank you Hanna!

It was a fast paced book that caught my attention within the first chapter and kept me engaged through the the last chapter (and beyond).
This book did a great job of world-building. Provided the history that led to the place they are in today, a place where dragons are living in secret, thought to be extinct. Searching for mages that are needed for their survival. The authors did well to feed the reader this via small tidbits through-out the story, not just in a big information dump.
Oh, the cast of characters! I truly mean both cast and characters. The novel truly follows Cameron and Alric through their meeting and budding romance. Additionally, they introduce a number of ancillary characters with a variety of personalities, that clearly will become important to the series as a whole, not just this novel.
There is adventure! Yes, this book has it all. The villains in this novel are an unknown force. There is stalking, kidnappings, rescue attempts…oh so much more. Sorry, I am trying to avoid spoilers….but gosh, there is lots going on, it is difficult.
The romance….yes there are some hot scenes in the book. I liked personally how the relationship development was a bit chaotic to start, throw in a denial phase, some drama, a should I or shouldn’t I undertone… I kind of felt for them during the roller coaster.
It is a happily ever after ending, with some clear threads (and characters) left open for future novels in the series.
The Bottomline… Origin is on my recommend list. It is a great story, great world-building, relatable cast of characters, and of course: DRAGONS.
Soooo…I am not going to lie, the minute I finished this book, despite it was 2 am in the morning, I started the next book, Breathe, immediately (and pounded through a couple of chapters before exhaustion hit). This HAS become my newest favorite paranormal romance series!!

I got to the end of the first book and immediately started BREATH that night, despite being 2 am. Well, this book delivered just as much as the first one. Again, it was a fast-paced book that incorporated drama, adventure, romance, magic, and of course: Dragons!
In their search for mages needed for their ultimate survival, Tori, happens to wander into the boundaries of the seeking spell. Setting off a series of events to persuade him to join their clan. There is some unconventional woo-ing involved…including socks. Yes, you read it correctly: SOCKS. Oh, and a gnome hunt!
Yep, the cast ancillary of characters still delivers! The first novel follows Cameron and Alric, whereas Breath has them in the cast and focuses more on Tori, the mage, and Baldewin, the head of the dragon guard. The authors even pull in members of the other major dragon clan (Ice Dragons) into this book.
There is adventure here also. OK, I am going to try to avoid spoilers: Car chase, magic fights, pissed off Fire Dargon and Ice Dragon Kings, attempted kidnapping, rescue the villagers… Now I am starting to sound like some of AJ’s out there tags she puts on her books!
Speaking of out there tags by the author, AJ. After sending her an email at 2am when I finished the first book and took her how much I enjoyed it. She said she might add a new tag: “Beware of sleep deprivation”
The Bottomline… Breath is ABSOLUTELY on my recommend list. I am truly looking forward to the next book, not to mention all of them to follow. I can easily see this series going on for a while. This is my new favorite paranormal romance series!

What I Liked… I have read all three books in the series back to back as part of this post. I wholeheartedly enjoyed each one. There is a lot to unpack What I Liked… I have read all three books in the series back to back as part of this post. I wholeheartedly enjoyed each one. There is a lot to unpack in this series, but admittedly, Jennifer Cody did it and did it well.
The novels are set in our modern-day world, with non-humans around us and interacting with us on a daily basis. The only reason we do not see them is the secrecy laws that non-humans follow. This leads to a believable world with schools, malls, and even police interactions. It does not take much to be pulled into this world Jennifer created.
Yes, the books are long. But they follow the developing relationships across three couples, one in each book. I loved how the author described them as being “acceptably taboo” relationships. An adult pseudo-step-uncle/nephew (-ish) relationship, an unrelated stepbrother romance, and a teacher/student romance. Each of the books shows the initial attraction, resistance, logic building, then ultimately the true development of the relationship…including some hot physical scenes.
Overarching this whole series is this paranormal chess match. Clearly, someone is behind the scenes pulling strings, causing drama, making mistakes, handicapping, and strategizing. You see it in the first two books, but it becomes front and center in book three: Queen to King Three.
One of the things I REALLY enjoyed about this series is that each of the three books is set at the exact same thing. So the events of the first novel happen in the second and third. BUT, from those characters’ point of view and their behind the scenes actions (and romance buildings). This really created a multi-dimensional storyline.
The Bottomline… I mentioned that this is a long series. Over 1,000 pages in total. However, TOTALLY WORTH IT!!

My husband and I have talked many times about starting a Christmas tree farm. Now, here is an m/m romance book, Burying the Hatchet, that is based on one. SIGN ME UP!
A.C. Thomas did a wonderful job building this novel. It has well-developed characters. While there are a few ancillary characters around them in a few scenes, the story is truly all about Clayton and Jake. This really helped to develop them and bring out their flaws, insecurities, and really their hidden passion towards each other. I enjoyed trying to figure out on Jake’s part what was his attempts to make up his past bullying and which were his ways of woo-ing of Clayton. I also loved how they bumped heads getting to the point when chemistry took over.
I would be remised to not mention the heat in the book. This was a slow build love story, despite previously untold crushes, but when the connection made, there were some hot scenes.
Forewarning I do want to give a small forewarning. The book talks about some bullying of Clayton during his school years for being gay. There is no violence in the book like this, but this is the seed of the mistrust between Clayton and Jake. Don’t worry, the book does have a happy ever after ending, but wanted to mention as bullying is a serious issue.
The Bottom Line Burying the Hatchet has it all. Hot, ax-wielding, burly mountain man and a business school graduate who had secret crushes on each other, finding love, ON A CHRISTMAS TREE FARM. This was not a love at first sight situation (at least for Clayton), definitely a well-developed slow build love story. Total recommend for a realistic, feel-good story!

She built characters that are out to save humanity, heroes you might say, but with real flaws and hauntings from their pasts. Both main characters are law enforcement people, one detective, one corner, fighting on the same team to figure out the mystery in front of them. But there are also both fighting odd personal feelings that neither of them can explain. Of course, then there is the added dilemma, one is a demon.
I must call out one item that speaks volumes for the author, Rhys Ford. Many authors shoehorn in sex scenes for the sake of getting a sex scene in the book. This one did not have one. There is a developing relationship that the two main characters are grappling with to understand, that I found more delightful than a random sex scene thrown in. BUT, it does increase the anticipation for when it will eventually happen.
Forewarning This is a serialized novel, think the first book of a series. It does not end in the typical HEA ending, but it is clearly a developing romance. It does NOT end on a cliffhanger but does leave open a few loose threads for Rhys to pick up in the future books.
The Bottom Line... Personally, I loved the book. I found myself finishing the whole book in 2 days…it was a page-turner! The only reason it took two days was that I HAD to go to work, but with that, I was up to 4 am because I could not put it down. I liked that there will be other novels coming that will expand and tie up the loose ends, I believe it adds more to the storytelling and didn’t rush the romance or the mystery just to get it to fit within a short number of pages.
I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series! Thanks, Rhys!

Jonas, a college frat boy who is viewed as “a player” by many ends up he is not over his first kiss. Ends up he has a heart of gold, and the patience to get this relationship on track. Quinn, a college dropout who leaves a bad relationship determined to get his life back on track AND does not plan on letting any man control his life again.
Well, as can imagine, this leads to some angst as they are snowed in together, alone, just before Christmas, as the secrets begin to come out. I enjoyed the banter between the two of them.
What kind of romance reviewer would I be to not call out the steaminess of the novel. Keep in mind, these are college-age characters…so there is no storage of hot scenes.
What I did not care for… Honestly, I loved the whole story. It was one of those page-turner books for me. With that, I will call out a possible trigger for some people. The main character, Quinn, does escape an emotionally abusive relationship. While there are hints of it through the story and adds to the drama of this rekindling/budding relationship, it does not go into extreme detail about the abuse. Ultimately, it is a Happily Ever After ending.
The Bottomline… I very much enjoyed this book, it seemed realistic to me, and as I mentioned, has all the right things in a holiday romance, that yes has a HEA ending. This is my first book by DJ Jamison…wow, if Naughty & Nice is as good as the rest of her collections... it certainly will not be my last.

The characteWhat I liked…. American Christmas is a well-developed romantic story that has some twists as they navigate their first Christmas together.
The characters come into the relationship with their own expectations and baggage (i.e., they were real). An opposite attraction story—one soccer fan, one theater fan; one driving into the relationship immediately, the other slowing it down…
They were both attempting to do something over the top for their lover, and tragically tripping over it. Frankly, I have had this type of thing happen to me (to a lesser extend), so I was able to feel it through the pages.
I enjoyed the way that support systems were displayed in this novel. As is common in the gay world where “family” is defined a bit more loosely to mean those they choose to have in their life, it was on display here at a multi-cultural level.
Speaking of multi-cultural…. I LOVED the fact there were arguments over whose eggnog was the best. I snickered out loud, because, I have SEEN arguments like that! PS: Eggnog is my favorite holiday drink…. I don’t really care which culture it comes from.
What I did not care for… The only thing I struggled with was keeping the ancillary characters straight. Trying to remember who the boss was, who was her husband, the family members, friends, etc by their first name caused me to stumble a few times.
With that, I found that I really did not NEED to keep them straight, ultimately, they were there to support Ari and Ying, provide advice and encouragement. So, my recommendation, don’t sweat it when you read the story!!
The Bottom Line… I enjoyed this book. While I do not have firsthand refugee experiences, I could relate to some of the twists in this book. I even garnered a little unwritten moral from the story: In the end, fill your life with people you love and who love you back and they will be there during your lows. Of course, you get that story in a fun, sometimes silly, romantic, happily-ever-after story!

It is the classic story of the rich who want what they want and will stand at nothing to get it. The main characters, Rafe, and Logan were well developed and despite being from different worlds, felt relatable to them. They each have their pasts and accept that the pasts are what made them. Even if some of it is regrettable.
I loved the cast of secondary characters. My favorite is Uncle Vicky. I could absolutely picture Uncle Vicky and the way he approached things in the book. Knowing a few people like Uncle Vicky in real life, it's unsurprising to me that he seemed to be the person doling out the most sense.
There was nothing in this book that I would have changed, it was fast-paced enough to keep you excited yet the suspense kept it interesting. I ended up finishing the book quickly, to my detriment as I ended up staying up until 4 am unable to put the book down.
I will call out a possible trigger warning for some. One of the main characters is kidnapped in one of the scenes. Without giving away too much…. I promise it is a HEA ending!!
The Bottom Line…TOTALLY WORTH IT! I can not wait to see what AG Meiers comes out with next!

This book did a great job drawing you into the story within the first few pages. It is a romance story that I would call a slow-build-love some might say enemies-to-friends. Either way, it is a HEA story, but the fun of it comes from how they get to that happily ever after.
The main characters were well developed. I enjoyed that the story had two mature men that came with their own baggage & histories. Jeff is a father of two grown children, has been married, and apparently has dated both men and women in his past. Mika has relationship trust issues, not to mention personal baggage. This is not an insta-love story and the courtship was frankly very cute!
Also: KUDOS to the author, Amy Aislin, for incorporating a little bit about Ashton Yager, the first NHL hockey player to come out of the closet into the novel.
What I did not like... NOTHING! I cannot think of one element of the book that I would change.
There is a SLIGHT paranormal element to the story that happens in the first chapter then again slightly at end of the novel as things do wrap up to an awesome HEA ending. But it played well as more of a coping mechanism vs. “paranormal experiences”. Frankly, it totally worked!
I will call out a possible trigger to some. One of the main characters did have cancer but is in remission. There are some side effects noted in the book, but I promise total happy ending. But I know this is a sensitive topic and the author does talk about that in the author’s notes at the end of the book. Personally, it was very well done.
The Bottom Line... AWESOME read. It really drew me into the story, that despite being a full-length novel, I read it in just a couple of days. It is a feel-good book that brings in hope for the holidays. Personally, this is what I needed after a year like 2020.
Oh, and my favorite line in the book is below, and not just because I have 15 holiday-themed inflatables that seem to grow annually (thanks to my husband!).

Catching small glimpses of his crush sitting at the counter on his lunch break. What if others notice…what if he notices? The entire story takes place in a diner in a tiny city in Colorado. It is a short story….so do not want to give ANY spoilers away. I am amazed that the author could pack such a powerfully emotional story in so few pages and in one location.
What I Didn't Liked My only complaint…. NOTHING. Unless you count wanting a sequel!
My Recommendation Albuquerque, Colorado is that feel-good, warm-n-fuzzy short story that everyone needs in their life now. Lets face it, given the year we have had…..we all can use a short break. Use this short story to fill the void! It is worth it.

Great read! No doubt about it. This is actually book 2 of the series, but I read it as a standalone. It worked and I REALLY did enjoy it. Now I am wondering if it would be EVEN better to read from the beginning. Either way: It was great!
I liked how the characters were well developed and complex. As in real life, there is more than one side to everyone, that is often lost in novels like this, but not in this book. Shoot, there was someone who I thought in the first chapter was a villain, but then maybe not in the end... Sorry, I am trying to avoid spoilers!! It was a great read.
OK, I would be remiss not to mention the hotness. I will just say, it did not disappoint. So this is my first Hurri Cosmo book, it will not be my last one. I know this book just realized, but I am HOPING a sequel is coming along soon!

There was a romance, a one night stand, a pregnancy, a mystery, an adult nightclub, a kidnapping, an over-protective family (...well two of them really), an escape, royal intervention.....and so much more that I am trying to not to give away too many spoilers.
Despite all of these elements, it was an easy book to follow. Meaning, it is not one of those books that causes what I call "brain drain" trying to keep everything straight as you read it. The mystery storyline of the book did add a good element.
One of the items I liked was how the romance did take time to develop. Despite a fated mates situation and a first date that turned into a passionate semi-public sex situation, the author took the time to develop the relationship.
THIS IS A HAPPILY EVER AFTER BOOK....well unless there is another visit/kidnapping... perhaps a sequel??
What I did not Care for OK, this is totally knit-picky. Eric has red hair in the book. There are even some comments made by "the family". Now, look at the cover again. The guy holding the baby is NOT a red-haired guy! Overall, that did not take away from the story AT ALL, but I did ask Penelope about it. She tells me (and is not the first author to tell me this): Finding a cute cover model is difficult. Now add in red hair and holding baby...it was next to impossible.
Again, DID NOT take away from a great book!!!! (Hey, I warned you it is knit picky)
My Recommendation Good read! No doubt about it. This was my first omegaverse book as well as my first book with Penelope Peters. I like how she pitched it to me: Kind of like a shifter book, just without the shifting. It intrigued me. Well, she did not disappoint, and looking forward to more from Penelope.
This is a great book to curl up on the couch with... some intrigued, some suspense, some sappiness, and yes, hot sex.
FUN ITEM LEARNED! The coffee shop that Eric and Rashad had their first date in...IS REAL! Well, it was modeled after one that is real. Check out COFFEE TALK on my site (don't worry I emphasized it in red so you will not miss it!)

Despite being a story with shifters, it really felt like you were there. From the description of the town as they walked down Main Street to the cemetery setting and even included little touches such as tidbits of the small-town gossip. Morgan Brice built this world perfectly.....without boring the reader to tears waiting for the story to start.
I would be remiss to not mention the hot characters and scenes. How can you go wrong with a librarian and a hot fireman, let alone a wolf and a fox. The characters were well developed complete with backstories, past traumas, exes, and new romance jitters. I would whole-heartedly recommend this book!!

My Thoughts on Drive Me Crazy This was my first Beth Bolden book, I was impressed. This is a lig Drive Me Crazy, a Food Porn, MM romance by Beth Bolden
My Thoughts on Drive Me Crazy This was my first Beth Bolden book, I was impressed. This is a light book from the standpoint of it was easy to get into and was not a book that required deep concentration to keep up with the storyline.
The romance between Tony and Lucas is a bit of a slow burn or slow build romance, but once it gets there, they cannot keep their hands off each other. It was pretty hot. I also found the ancillary characters, Wyatt and Ryan endearing and really did add to the novel. I have learned after the fact that their story stems from a different series from Beth Bolden: Kitchen God Series: Catch Me.
The "mystery" in the novel (the actual story) is driven by outside forces, that I believe helped to deepen the relationship but stems from the competitors in the food truck realm, jealous co-workers, and some internal theft. I felt it was just the right amount of story.
I have to admit, I think I gained 5 pounds reading this book! The food sounded so good...I found myself hungry just reading it. Not a good time when I typically read while going to bed!
I would wholeheartedly recommend this book. If the rest of the upcoming series is done this well, it will be fantastic.
Thank you Beth!

My Recommendation This was my first book by Ms. Heirs. I was not sure what to expect, never even heard of tentacles as a genre, but love M/M Paranormal Romance as well as a murder mysteries, so I gave it a try. Well, I was not disappointed, to say the least!
This is a very interesting tale that K.L. Hiers spins. She created a whole new religious pantheon in this novel, complete with its own gods, festivals, and a version of their afterlife. There is even a storyline about how the religion has fallen from favor and a more dominant one has arisen. This was some incredible world-building, without it overpowering the whole story.
The mystery piece had just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting, without being too taxing for an enjoyable read. The characters were charming and well developed. My personal favorite was Sloan, the detective, but admittedly, I found "Loch" endearing despite his antics.
OK.....this was my first tentacle book. As I mentioned, I had NO CLUE that was even a thing. Admittedly, it was pretty hot. There is one larger romantic scene around halfway through the book, that I would say left little to the imagination when it comes to tentacle love. Ultimately, the book was more than just sex, but it definitely did not take away for it!
In the end, this is on my RECOMMEND list! I am looking forward to the next book in the series.....hopefully not too far down the road.
