CAN YOU??). the worldbuilding was decent, the plot dragged on at times, but they were both good for the most part. the dialogue on the other hand. . . quite on the nose and cliche during dramatic scenes— it just really irked me and took me out of the story. but I have high hopes for the rest of the series, fingers crossed !!...more

But it did take me nearly a month to finish because WHY WAS IT SO LONG. There are literally two complete plot arcs so I don't understand why it wasn't split into two books.
Though I am so glad there was not a love triangle, I find it hard to believe there was no awkwardness or conflict when it came to Stassy's FWB. A bit too unrealistic for me.
Icebreaker was still was fun and happy and cliche in a satisfying way. Actually maybe I'm just a hoe for hockey romances so idk take this review with a grain of salt....more

at first i thought i thought “a murder mystery summer vacation romance?? what’s not to love?”
the romance had such a unique set up and the signature tessa bailey insta love is my fav, however the characters didn’t have much individual substance. thus i failed to truly care for the romance.
Taylor also made a shit ton of rash and reckless choices to further the plot, but that didn’t really bother me at all. Somehow. Tessa Bailey magic i guess?
In terms of the Tessa Bailey golden standard, it was mid. Did I have a good ass time reading it? Yeah....more

It definitely could’ve been at least 100 pages shorter, with less of Cassie’s segments because her story was just a boring distraction from Lore’s. As for Lore, she is impossible to sympathize with. I understand she’s meant to be flawed but there’s times were she defends herself to Cassie (and the reader) . . . No ma’am.
The ending was not satisfying in the slightest, and I honestly find it hard to believe that Lore managed to pull off a double life for so long. The premise was of a dramatic mystery thriller but this was a tame drama.
