I was nervous to see how this would live up to the stellar first book, but the stakes are only amplified and the world is fleshed out further. I'm still ride or die for Elvar and Orka, and Varg's personal growth has only grabbed my attention more. Can't wait to see how it plays out in the finale......more

Literally giggling and kicking my feet on the beach as I breeze through this and all I can say is OH MY GODD. Finally, some (say it with me) #Justice4Charlie. Speaking of Every Summer After, this was a close, if not better, contender. I saw so much of myself in Alice and watching her confidence blossom was so so inspiring. Her and Charlie complimented each other perfectly imperfectly and I guarantee you, your cheeks will be sore from smiling ear to ear as you unravel their story....more

The rich world of magic with typewriters and the politics of the High Magistry were unbelievably crafted. I lived for the imperfect main characters Sciona and Thomil who were infinitely steadfast in their character yet dynamic. The ethical questioning at the forefront of the plot was on-the-nose yet at the same time, deeply unsettling. As for the ending, the plot was wrapped up in a satisfying way with some ambiguity that felt fitting to such a hefty fantasy story told in a single book. Sciona and Thomil FOREVER!!!...more

Signe Pike once again immerses us into a world of political tension and drama in this return to 6th century Scotland. Though I wasn’t fond of some POVs introduced in the last book, their storylines intersected here with greater stakes, namely Angharad and Lailoken. The pacing was fantastic and the final part of the story had me on the edge of my SEAT. I’m sad that book 4 won’t come out til end of 2027 (hence why I put this off for awhile to reduce my suspense for the final book) but I am waiting impatiently....more

The way the different facets of love are depicted was highly effective, perfectly captured as something that is craved and worshiped and an out-of-body feeling. So profound and unique, and only. thirty. pages. THIRTY. I'd love to see this adapted into the show Love, Death, and Robots on Netflix or something like the sort. I can't stop thinking about this....more

It’s 2:00 am and I just had a heart attack from that ending twice over. Yet somehow the conclusion was everything I needed it to be (still with room for more). I was worried about the ending of this insane buildup but now I can safely say Red Rising absolutely ATE from start to finish. Pierce Brown I hope both sides of your pillow are COLD TONIGHT!!...more

I blasted through this in one sitting (albeit on a long haul flight) but I was absolutely enthralled from start to finish. Darrow is a such a deeply complex and unpredictable character, and I appreciated how the small scope of the story was still able to capture the sense of uneasiness that permeates the plot and the weight of the intergalactic class system as a whole. All the while setting up for an all out war in the coming books. Mind. blown....more
