I rarely ever reread but I needed to refresh my memory before diving into Cytonic. Now it’s exactly midnight and I should probably sleep but since I have no self control, I’ll probably start rereading Starsight right now. I didn’t enjoy Starsight as much as Skyward, but I can’t wait to dive back in and see how my thoughts might change!
Also, I will most likely be back for another reread before book 4 comes out because my memory is worse than M-Bot’s and I just love this series so much so let’s just see how long this review gets by then lol.
FIRST READ: this was one of the BEST YA books I have ever read. It's also one of my first Sanderson reads, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Skyward is a fairly unique take on YA sci-fi that wasn't romance-centered and had a brazen protagonist that did not annoy me! Spensa's brashness was justified and surprisingly not irritating.
The plot and prose were straight forward (fitting for YA) but still kept me engaged, had fantastic pacing, and actually unpredictable plot twists. If you guessed it, please tell me your tricks.
I will say that this book will be hard to top but I'm sure Sanderson will make the third book even better since the second book was slightly underwhelming for me....more
All time favorite !! Along with the technical excellence of this novel, it holds a lot of sentimental value to me.

This is the book that ignited my love for reading. I bought it in 2018 because I thought the cover was cool. When I was stuck at home as I sheltered in place in 2020, I rearead it and fell in love with the story and YA and reading in general all over again. I've spent so much time reading since then and made lots of new friends through discussing books. And it's kinda all thanks to Scythe ;)
Ok but actually, this is fast paced story with such a well executed, unique premise. The writing is descriptive while still being easy to follow. The characters are so real and relatable and amazing. Everything is fascinating and will capture your attention. Pick it up, anyone and everyone....more
