I had low expectations since this was in the free Audible catalog and I haven’t had much luck there. But I was pleasantly surprised! This was one of the better MM PNR books I’ve read. The writing was good, interesting and fast-paced plot, and I really enjoyed the angsty love story. I know some people don’t like the push and pull of ex’s not ready to admit they want to get back together but I love the drama. Not particularly spicy but I love a slowburn. ...more

The Hazardverse series has been my absolute favorite literary experience. I’m 30 books deep and it just never gets old. I could read 100 books about these characters, they feel like real people and I miss them whenever I’m not reading about them.
This series finale really brought everything full circle, back to that locker room with John Henry forced to face his past and the question of who he was and who he’s become. This story was heartbreaking and I cried for him and for Emery. The overarching mystery of this series also came together in one of the most suspenseful moments GA has written. I was on pins and needles waiting for the resolution.
Again, the friendship between all the couples was lovely and brilliant and hilarious. I love these books with my whole heart.
Tristan James’s narration was amazing per usual....more

Their banter was cute and funny, whereas I found it mostly annoying and tedious in Borealis. Perhaps the constant ribbing and digs just work better as a happy, established couple than they do as two idiots trying and failing to form a relationship. I loved all the couples together. Their night out together at the Pretty Pretty was so heartwarming.
I will say this book has my least favorite audio narrator of all of GA’s books. His voice range just doesn’t do the characters justice. No one can do Hazard and Somers like Tristan James!!!I cannot wait to start Hazard and Somers book! I’ve missed them so much!...more

But I admire that GA is so versatile and he can pivot so seamlessly between light humor and heavy emotions. Auggie and Theo are very much still in turmoil in their relationship and their struggles saddened me. I do love them both but Theo is difficult to like in this one. Auggie having to tiptoe around Theo due to his trauma and subsequent outbursts and meltdowns was a tad too toxic for my liking this late in the game. I did adore the end though, and this leaves off on a cliffhanger, so I’m on to book 3. I do love all these characters together. This was really a brilliant move, combining them all. It’s chaotic in the best way and the banter is unparalleled. ...more

The banter in this is brilliant. All four couples riff off each other perfectly. Absolutely hilarious all the way through. Probably the funniest GA book in the Hazardverse. The murder mystery was intriguing and kept me engaged, and it’s nice to see more of Jem and Tean as an established couple, happy but still working on their relationship issues. Highly recommend the audio!...more

The problem with the fake marriage trope is that if you’ve read a few, you’ve read them all. Because they’re all the same. One MC always needs to get married and stay married for some length of time in order to receive some sort of inheritance, which in reality is a super unrealistic and flimsy plot line. But we all sort of go along with it for funsies. This one unfortunately didn’t bring anything new to the table and just felt extra contrived with the ridiculous setup. But it was a cute listen with moderate angst and good spice....more

I really love how short and bite-sized these books are. I’m doing the audios and they’re just flying by. I do have to say that a better narrator could have been chosen. The voices that Curt Bonnem chooses to use for some of the characters is truly awful. But I’m getting used to it. ...more
