Sean Ashcroft always lays the romance and warm, cuddly feelings on thick but in a way that never feels icky or uncomfortable or awkward. Just delightful. I love the boss/employee dynamic and this one stood out as original because the boss here was actually the timid, insecure sweetheart instead of the gruff jerk we’re used to getting. It was a refreshing change that added just a hint of angst. ...more

I liked the slightly different take on the fake relationship trope. Harper and Jay are already desperately in love with each other when the story begins but they can’t make it official because they work together—Harper is Jay’s boss. So they decide to pretend for a weekend that they’re able to have everything they want, and it’s just so heartwarming and hot and romantic. A true comfort read. The writing is top-notch. Which is actually a nice change from the fluffy, fated mate vampire books I usually see. This felt more like an Anne Rice than a Twilight.

It just felt very lusty with very little love-vibes.
I liked Nate, and almost the entire book is told from his POV detailing how obsessed he is with Raffaele. But we get almost nothing from Raffaele; he was like a flat, cardboard cut-out of a grump. I didn’t understand why Nate liked him so much. ...more

The thing I love most about Riley Nash’s books, besides how beautifully written they are, is that they don’t fit the mold. Her writing and story progressions are so different from any other romance I’ve read and I love that she keeps me on my toes. These books draw out emotions from me that I don’t often feel in other books I read.

I loved how the relationship took center stage and the action/suspense plot just enhanced their romance.
I put off reading this for a long time, which was so dumb. Don’t be like me. You need Miro and Ian in your life. This can be read as a standalone if you don’t like the commitment of a long series. I’m definitely going to continue though because I need more of them. ...more

Lily Morton books have this uncanny ability to captivate me. I eat up her books like they’re candy. Her characters always feel so intricate and authentic and even her side characters are vibrant and carefully considered. There are no throw-aways in her writing. Her scenery is beautiful. Her banter is funny. She writes emotion so damn well, especially jealousy. I love that pang of jealousy and hurt on behalf of the main character and she has the unrivaled talent to add just the right amount of drama that it hurts so good (before everything is smoothed out with a HEA).
Her books aren’t flawless, but they always keep me interested and evoke emotion from me and that’s ultimately all I’m looking for in a book....more

Oz and Silas’s story was wholesome, low-angst, and sweet. A bit on the slow side, but a relaxing read with a some humor throughout. I loved Oz’s style and his unapologetic and sassy demeanor. I loved how loyal and down-to-earth Silas was despite being raised in a posh environment. I don’t feel like I got quite enough of Silas’s perspective. I would have liked more chapters with insight into his feelings.
As a side note, I loved the brotherly love in this book. It warmed my heart to see two adult brothers hugging and saying “I love you” frequently and without embarrassment. I feel like we don’t get enough of that in American culture....more

Lots of fun snarky banter, amazing chemistry, and a constantly evolving storyline that keeps you engaged the whole time. Never a dull moment.
You know that gut-twisting feeling you get in your belly when you feel intense hurt or jealousy on behalf of the main character? This book is that, almost the whole way through. Dylan has fallen for a man who he knows shuns love and relationships and goes to great lengths to warn Dylan off in heart-breaking ways. I happen to love an angsty unrequited love story and I crave emotionally damaged anti-heroes, so this was totally my jam. This book is a whole lot of hurt but the HEA and the epilogue were perfection. ...more

However, I3.5⭐️ I really liked the slow-burn love story between Jack, the sweet (but straight) widower POTUS and Ethan, his gay secret service agent. However, I wasn’t a fan of the political suspense plot and the way the backstory was told. The chapters of their love story were broken up with chapters of news stories about political unrest in the world which involved way too many countries and introduced too many new side characters that it became sort of hard to follow and boring. Not much in the way of excitement/suspense happened until the 70% mark but I was already skimming at that point. Tal’s other president/secret service romances are MUCH better IMO....more
