Cherry was awesome—confident, knows what she wants, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. I loved the way she handled everything. Ruben was such a great match for her. he’s sweet, grounded, and genuinely caring, especially with the kids. the way he stood up to his abuser to protect the family he built really got me. and the fact that he was completely smitten with Cherry from the moment they met? SO adorable. their chemistry was on point, and the spicy scenes hit just right.
my only small gripe is that I wish there had been more closure about what happened with Ruben’s brother. that part felt a little unfinished. but otherwise, the ending worked for me.

ok, so, this book has been sitting in my tbr for a while because I had a feeling I wasn’t going to enjoy it. I tried so hard to love this book but it just didn’t work for me. I felt like there wasn’t a lot of development in the relationship between Summer and Chase. everything fell very fast from the first page. I wish there was more of a build up to them being together. the suspense element also felt underdeveloped and lacked any real shock value for me. if you are reading the series, definitely read it, but don’t expect too much :)
the suspense element was also poor what to expect: small town flower shop owner x cowboy cop friends to lovers he falls first found family suspense subplot ...more

i initially DNFed this book because i cringed so hard when Cash called Glenna “baby” for the first time and out of the blue.
after giving it a second chance however, i think this book serves its purpose, it’s damn entertaining. i read this on my way to work, and it made me smile and my heart fluttered. i liked how Cash had been crushing on Glenna for ages, but she wasn't keen on him for years. he was just so dumb and ridiculous in his pursuit of her but lovable i couldn’t help but laugh. the scene where Glenna accidentally got injured and Cash looked after her was fabulous...more

i was pleasantly surprised by this book! i struggled a little bit in the beginning but then i couldn't put the book down. such a well-written second-chance love story! this book also tackled some serious topics like mental health and the loss of family members, and i found myself tearing up multiple times during my read.
the heroine, Avery, was very likable and i could really relate to her struggle with depression/anxiety— her worries about messing up and letting people down, her fear of intimacy, and feeling not good enough to be loved. and the hero, Nathan was super swoony! he was supportive and caring, he practically worshipped Avery, and his sense of humor was hilarious. the way he was always there for Avery in her dark moments had me a little emotional. i absolutely loved both of them together, they weren't perfect, but they were perfect for each other.
the secondary characters were just as special and great as well. i adored the bond the Kingsley sisters have together and also the relationship Avery has with her dad, i am so close with my dad and their relationship reminded me a lot of my own! i’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the next installment in the series with Willow and Evan's story!...more

i blame twitter for setting my expectations too high for this book. Elsie Silver is a hit-or-miss author for me and unfortunately, this one was leaning towards the latter.
don't get me wrong. it's not that bad. i just expected... more. the problem for me with this book was the lack of tension, or even any real chemistry between Ford and Rosie. every issue that could — and should — have created a little bit of angst or deep emotions, was resolved almost instantly. it's a lot of tell and not show as far as character development goes, which was disappointing. yes, there were some good moments and Ford was so sweet beneath his moody, broody exterior but it also didn't blow me away. it didn't make me swoon or melt into a puddle and that's really all i ever want from a romance book like this. *sighs*
i skipped the hell of a lot of the pages because i didn't connect and couldn't wait to finish this so i could finally move on to a more interesting read. it might work for you, i know a lot of people loved this book.✌...more

i’ve read them all and i have to say this was the best one of the series! the black cat x golden retriever vibe was done so well!
Sloane is such a sassy, strong, and badass woman, and she's one of my favorites written by Ana. i relate to her on so many levels and it was nice to see a good representation of someone who is scared of love and doesn't trust easily. Xavier is so incredibly charming and so fitting for Sloane. i loved that he's such a sweetheart when it comes to anything Sloane related. the meaning behind him calling her "Luna" pulled at my heartstrings!! Xavier and Sloane have such great chemistry together. the push and pull between them made me feel all sorts of things and i just adored the progression of their love.
the cameo appearances of old characters from her previous books/series were a nice touch and made the book even more fun. now i am super excited for King of Envy because Vuk seems like a really intriguing character and i’m always a sucker for jealousy pining trope. ...more

this is now becoming an all time favorite. i decided to reread this and i'm so glad i did. this book was literal perfection for me. there wasn’t a single moment i didn’t like. Mallory was super relatable and Nolan was just the sweetest. the chess element was so interesting, and the romance was so good on top of that.
“Chess is a bad idea.” “Why?” “Look where it got me.” “It got you here. To me.”
“When I'm with you, Mallory, everything is different. When I'm with you, I want to play more than I want to win.”
