Yet another page turner from an author who I became an insta-fan of in under 5 mins! I am not sure what I love more about her books - the fact that they make me eat up pages at record speed because the story is so good and writing is very smooth and super engaging or the fact that they make me learn something because of author's own legal background.
THE WIFE was simply UNPUTDOWNABLE! I found myself reading through the night because I HAD to find out whodunit. This book is yet another example why I LOVE to read. These are the kinds of stories that make me not regret a single penny or minute spent on them.
If I had to choose right now which I book I loved more, I don't think I could do it. Both (THE EX and THE WIFE) were absolutely fantastic in their own right.
As I read this title, I kept thinking how much I would love to see it on a big screen and, upon further sleuthing on author's site, was THRILLED to discover that this book is, in fact, being made into a movie by Amazon studios!!! *flails uncontrollably*

Boy, was I wrong! And am I ever pissed at myself for not reading this sooner!!
I devoured THE EX in pretty much one sitting. This almost NEVER happens. I am talking "couldn't wait to ditch the New Years Eve party I was at so I could get back home and read some more"!
This riveting, exquisitely written legal thriller grabs you on page one and doesn't let go till the very end. I couldn't get enough of the strong characters and the story line that was full of twists and had me guessing till the very last few pages. Not to mention all the legal jargon that was on point courtesy of author herself being a law professor and ex-Deputy District Attorney, among other things.
I usually have the hardest time finding heroines that leave a lasting impression. This wasn't the case with Olivia Randall. I'd love to read about her more and was over the moon to discover that she has appeared in a couple of more titles of Ms. Burke's that I am off to read ASAP!
There was so much more I wanted to say in my review but, as usual, I can't find all the right words to express everything I feel. And besides, even if I could find the words, I could never put them in coherent enough sentences to do this book justice anyways so I won't even try.
In a nutshell: if you ever picked up a book based on one of my recs in the past and enjoyed it, trust me on this one, OK?
P.S. The ending of this book had me grinning like a loon. You'll get why if/when you read the book.

Here are the top ten that I simply couldn't get enough of. • After having fallen in love with The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller a few years ago, CIRCE was a no brainer and it lived up to every single expectation I had for it! • ULTIMA by L.S. Hilton (part of a series and can NOT be read as standalone) was everything a finale to a glorious trilogy should be! This author's writing is something to behold and I can only wish she'd write something similar in the future. • CONSUMED by J.R. Ward is the first book in a series of standalone novels (with an ongoing plot) that had me hooked at free prequels. I don't know what it is about the way this author does contemporary romance but I simply can't get enough! • GIGOLO by Ben Foster is unlike anything I've ever read before. A unique tale of real life gigolo makes you flip pages at record speed while you slowly but surely fall in love with Ben and wish this story didn't have to end. • THE BABY by Abigail Barnette (part of a series and can NOT be read as standalone) was ALL FEELS with a side helping of even more feels. Raw and emotional, it only solidified my love for this amazing couple and this series. • Lisa Garnder writes a mean thriller! I became an insta-fan only a few weeks ago and plan on devouring her entire body of work in 2019. ALONE and Touch & Go were simply unputdownable! • When I pick up a book by a new-to-me author, all I hope for is a well written, unique story and that is exactly what I got (and then some!) with RIOT STREET by Tyler King. This book is smart, raw, sexy and full of feels. I can't recommend this enough! • And last but definitely not least ... E.A. Carter's TRANSCENDENCE SERIES. If I had to describe it in one word, 'masterpiece' is the only word that comes to mind. I am blown away and absolutely in awe of this author. This series is so well researched and beautifully written that it left me with a thousand yard stare when I was done. I think I was left reeling FOR WEEKS after and every time I think about it, I have an urge to reread it. These two books are [hands down!] THE best books I've read to date. An absolute must read for ANYONE, even if this genre isn't your usual cuppa. This story is out of this world (pun and all) and worth every penny and every minute you'll spend on it! • That's all. Her characters are perfection. Flawed. Real. Just the kind of characters I love to read about. And the way she keeps you guessing!! As one of THE pickiest people when it comes to leading ladies, I am THRILLED to discover an author who gave me two kickass females leads to add to my very short list of ultimate favourite heroines: D.D. If you are someone who appreciates a unique page turner that is unlike anything you've ever read before, GIGOLO is a must read! Reads like a diary, it's a true story of real life gigolo Ben Foster and makes for a 'couldn't-put-it-down-read-in-one-sitting' type story. I enjoyed it so much that I even ordered a paperback copy for my bookshelf.
This book would make an amazing TV show, which I'd be sure to tune in every week if that was ever to happen.

This was one hell of a ride! I love it when friends recommend books to you and you end up becoming OBSESSED with those books because obsessed is exactly what I was for an entire week as I DEVOURED 'MINDF*CK' by S.T. Abby, which is a a very clever pen-name, BTW!
This series has everything one would want in it in order to enjoy: it's fast paced, well written, full of twists and A-HA! moments, great characters and plot. I was dying to get to the end yet I didn't want for the story to end. I was just eager to see how the author was going to resolve an [almost] un-resolvable conflict. She did a great job at it, in case you are wondering.
If you enjoy twisted stories and don't mind rooting for an anti-hero (heroine in this case), you'll absolutely get a kick out of this one.

Age gap is my thing as in I LOOOOOOVE books with age difference. And the bigger the better. But usually when the male character is the older one. Long story short, I am so happy I didn't pass on this because the age gap was reversed. I was pleasantly surprise at how much I ended up enjoying this story which didn't exactly go in the direction I thought it would. I was sucked in from the prologue and didn't come up for air till 'The End'. I can NOT wait for the conclusion of this duet because this author never disappoints!

It took me not even two pages to fall in love with this author/her writing. Unique and addictive, E.A. Carter's TRANSCENDENCE Series is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! I think it's safe to say it's one of THE best series I've EVER read.
I can't thank my friend Joanne enough for recommending it. If you enjoy exquisitely written, original material then give this a go. Even if fantasy isn't your thing, read it! This is truly one of those reading experiences that is not to be missed!
