It was romantic and it was overall enjoyable to read a couple things that didn’t work for me and particular and a third thing which is maybe no fault of the book but maybe more so the fault of me the reader but the first thing, which may be related to the third thing I think this was book 6 and the series and I haven’t read any of the others. I just read this one because I thought I heard this book mentioned somewhere and I got it for a dollar the tall, which is fantastic because I’m all about tall women and books so that was fantastic, what kind of me was the very beginning and I guess the author was trying to grab the readers attention and pull them in right from the very beginning with that opening line about her asking him to murder her but for me as someone who has not read the other books in the series and this is the third thing which I mean me who hasn’t read the other books in the series, but I didn’t really see indicated anywhere that you needed to read the other books in the series 1st, but it seems that we’ve been previously introduced to Abigail and that Abigail and Stephen Also previously had met each other so this was not their first meeting, but I personally as someone who is new to the series would’ve enjoyed a much softer introduction to the two characters like maybe start with Abigail‘s house being robbed or or something when they were trying to pull her off the stage coach or whichever event that was that let her to go to London and seek Stephen out And then maybe have some more gradual interactions or something because it did feel a little too, Insta lust and still love, which I know some people like that and that’s totally fine. That’s just not for me and beyond that. I struggled to see why Stephen fell for her as quickly and as hard as he did and they kissed, and then it was suddenly like he was obsessed with her, but that was before he really knew anything about her, so you know that whole part of it at the beginning the introduction like that first chapter was really kind of bungled in my opinion. The other thing that I didn’t really care for were the the mention and the detail around Steven‘s previous affairs like the fact that he had affairs with men and so basically he’s bisexual, which is fine, but I just didn’t see how that added to the story and I didn’t see how him having that affair when he was like 18 years old with that artist how that added to the story that’s what I’m looking for here is make it relevant make it relevant, otherwise what’s the point you’re just taking up space on the pages and so yeah at the end Abigail and Steven are talking about it and it is very much like a Jerry Springer episode because he had an affair with the artist he had an affair with Lady Champlain, and had a kid with her and Lady Champlain was the wife of Lord Champlain, who Abigail had an affair with and had a sun by and then now she’s with Stephen and Champlain is with the artist so they’ve all slept with each other essentially and it’s like you know yeah and Steven pretty much flat out says he’s fucked up which it is I mean and what is the point like how does that further the story? How does that help the story I don’t see that it does, the other thing that prevented me from giving four stars the break up Red Hot hate third act breakups they are pointless. They contrived the reader is just waiting for the other shooter drop so it really takes away from the readers enjoyment when you were anticipating this conflict you’re anticipating them to break up you. How am I supposed to enjoy the ride when I know conflict is coming and it’s OK for there to be conflict, but don’t especially don’t push it as late as you did in this book. I mean there were like maybe seven pages left and I’m like what the hell I mean I know they’re gonna end up together but then when they finally do get together, it’s so rushed. It’s so so rushed and then we just get the epilogue and they’ve been married and then they have that ball and you know I don’t know That too. You know I don’t know for me not for me not not well executed so the middle of the book was great you know I didn’t grow overly tired of reading from the other characters POV’s I kinda like the family dynamics between all of them and I really enjoyed the interaction between Stephen and Abigail because, very obvious that they liked each other how much they liked each other but I would’ve enjoyed just a little maybe a little bit more and a little bit less of Steve just wanting to get his rock off which I can’t blame him still don’t be a contemporary romance, where the guy is just constantly getting aroused around the woman and he keeps pointing that out to himself in his head for the reader like I don’t really need to know likecan you just sit and have a conversation I mean geez and especially then it may seem like I wasn’t overly pleased with this book. I was I mean I was looking forward to reading it every time I picked up the book and it was really just such a vast improvement over the absolute crap that I’ve been reading lately so three stars I feel pretty solid.

The major turn off for me was the instant love instant lust. They knew each other like less than 24 hours so I had a hard time getting excited about the story knowing that I really don’t see what all the rush was about I mean, couldn’t the story of started because he needed to impersonate that prince and then that ended and then what and the rest of the story is about them being together and dealing with him being a seal when all they fall in love with like the first couple of days and then the rest happens over three Weeks Just Way too rushed for me so I have a hard time taking the character seriously when they’re profess their undying love...more
This is probably one of the worst books I’ve ever read and not because it was poorly written, but just because the story itself was so freaking stupidThis is probably one of the worst books I’ve ever read and not because it was poorly written, but just because the story itself was so freaking stupid. It was as if someone pushed you onto truck that was already traveling at 65 miles an hour, the female main character gets kidnapped 1 million times the stories very very repetitive Right from the beginning this action happens that we didn’t get to see we get this weird bizarre narration from the female main character. The love interest is like immediately there and immediately wanting to have a relationship with her. It was just so bizarre and then on top of it there’s this whole theme about her being a rock chick and it’s like what does it have to do with anything and then as you’re reading along, you get introduced to character after character after character and with each character you get introduced to, you get at least one full paragraph of their backstory and their relationship with her and their purpose in this particular story is so insanely. I eventually just ended up skimming through most of it. I thought it was crazy sexist about how the best friend and the best friends mother were all like get pregnant get married have babies name them after us, that part of the story just didn’t age well at all I read a review written by someone else and they said I guess I’m the only one who didn’t like this and that they didn’t like the female main character, but they liked the male main character and I really feel the same way. I’m just really surprised at the people who raided this book not just four stars but five stars really a five star book. That’s insane no absolutely not, really felt like the poor man’s version of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich...more

The elements were there two people who had a hot and loving relationship, and then they were torn apart because they wanted the other one to be happy then she ends up getting into this abusive relationship and has been away from Home for six years, but she’s always loved this and always loved her. This book felt like the poor man’s version of it ends with us by Colleen Hoover. This story really could’ve benefited from some flashbacks instead of the opening scene that we get of these two people being some not loving and tender romantic scene, but it’s just raw fucking, maybe other people were prepared for that or were expecting that but I was not and so it really just kind of made the whole story feel cheap and when tackling something like domestic abuse you have to handle right or not handling it at all and it was just handled poorly here. It was not really warranted and no one really wants to read. Amount of woman getting beat up by her significant other but Think if we had been witnessed to that as a reader that would’ve provided some depth to the story instead we get this scene of these two people literally just fucking and we’re just being told that they love each other. We’re not really seen that and then flash forward six years and again they’re just telling us that I still loved you that whole time, we just have to take their word for it and it’s not an enjoyable type of story to read. Other wasted potential in the story or really the relationships that our female main character could’ve reestablished like with her sister her dad who was going through chemotherapy and we got like what two scenes with him so instead, it was just the same type of scenes and encounters over and over and over again between the two main characters And I just makes for really cheap story so it’s like the other was really just plain trying to be story was substance. I think an emotionally available man would really be able to keep his thoughts and his body in under control when you’re dealing with a woman who’s coming out of an abusive relationship but in like every thought he’s having is about his cock....more

I am really a big fan of reverse age gap when done well and I liked the ages here of the characters. I didn’t like that she had breast augmentation done like why did that need to be an element of the story? What does that really add, really need for stories out there with women who talk about having plastic surgery. I mean, I don’t know as someone who’s never had plastic surgery like that. What do I really know but I just have to say that he kept talking about breasts and how much he loved them and they were such a focal point and the whole time I kept thinking they’re fake. They’re fake they’re fake so it’s like when people complement my teeth. I mean, I paid for them when I had braces twice, you know it just is a very superficial compliment maybe one thing if they were natural lol but they’re not so that was very distracting. I read that has to do with the music industry it just I don’t know. It’s just a turn off for me. I don’t know what it is, it’s just not something. I’m even remotely interested in reading about I think that really all of these characters need to go into therapy because the son has an unhealthy relationship with his parents. The female main character has an unhealthy relationship with her best friend her best friend has unhealthy relationships with her and her son. It’s just a bunch of toxic unhealthy crap all around doesn’t really leave you feeling like there’s much hope for these characters when you close the book, so overall, the book was very underwhelming...more

There’s just something about them where there’s not all this crazy ass smart and it just feels more real, even though some of the characters are a bit eclectic, but I like this story primarily because of the ages of the two main characters, and it was kind of nice to see the female main character come into her own and reset her life and having the support of her sons it would’ve been. I don’t know a little less one dimensional if we’ve gotten a little bit more about the history with her husband, I mean pretty much the opening scene is her finding him cheating on her obviously not good but I think we would’ve maybe connected with her or rooted for her a little bit more if we just seen more of her struggles to read that she’s known about all of these affairs over the years I mean, man that’s rough that is rough interest course starts out a bit like enemies to lovers and I don’t know that we really ever get a reason for him being so snippy it’s been more than a day since I’ve finished this book so I can’t remember those kind of details but you know once they do start spending more time together it is very sweet and I did enjoy it, and I enjoyed her resurrecting the tea room, and reconnecting with the community. ...more

I mean he’s just flat out attracted her. She’s confident in herself and you know it’s a bit of a whirlwind they literally spent like three days together and totally fall in love and then they’re separated for what I think six months or what not When they get reunited and then end up being together and written, and even though it’s some thing that’s pretty short and they fall for each other and such a short time. It was just believable because they were both going into it like this is a limited one time thing, but then the unexpected happened where they form this real connection and I mean you can’t fight that when it happens, you know what they weren’t looking for they were trying to keep it superficial or whatever, so cute story...more
