It was mainly world and plot building, getting ready for the next book really. It kinda made it drag and get boring at parts. And while I might think about what might come next in the series for the next day, it’s not enough to want to continue in the series....more

I completely hated the art style. Why was Alice a possessed sick little Victorian boy demon? What was with all of the characters eyes? Why were they so soul less? Almost all of it was black and white. I will say colour was used to empathise the plot but I just prefer all colour
I had been looking to try get the next volumes (even if they’re rarer than pixie dust) but I don’t think I will.
All text was basically, if not exactly, copied from the book. It only goes up to the end of the meadow scene after their first kiss....more

We have: - a hearing aid wearing, hard of hearing bisexual Chinese-American witch - a non binary queer (I’m not sure of their sexuality) Chinese-American werewolf - lesbian witch grandmas - one, if not only, white character, the super supportive and queer alley best friend who is a die hard science nerd and finds magic bizarre once again support her bf anyway.
As the authors noted, there’s not really that many inclusive stories out there (but thankfully, more and more as the days go by) and they wanted to change that. And I’m really happy they did!
I also love the fact that Nova’s hearing aids are the exact same shade of Tam’s hair...more
