The premise of this book is kind of fun but the execution not so much. I found the main character to be a pushover and got annoyed with both her and her twin. I gave it three stars because I didn't hate it but I did get annoyed enough to stop listening. ...more

So I don't know if I'm not in the right headspace for this series or if I always wouldn't like it. This series starts with the brother's mom in the hospital - it's nothing serious but she wants her boys to settle down and give her grandbabies. So she lies and implies that she's dying to manipulation them into doing what she wonts. Now my mom actually passed away about six weeks ago. So it might be because her death is so recent or it might be the outright manipulation that was supposed to be the basis for funny (the coin toss was a little amusing) but not only did I not get into this book but I didn't want to even try the next book in the series. ...more

I'm not sure if it was the narrators or the story itself but I was board - even at one and a half speed. I just couldn't get into this story. I want to know the murder info but just couldn't bring myself to finish it....more

DNF - I feel like two stars is being generous. But I did get through the first book maybe two thirds of the second before I threw in the towel and gave up.
I hated Diana. There was nothing redeeming about her. Ethan started off okay but I quickly got annoyed with him as well.
The narration was...not great
See below for my reviews on the books I listened to.
Book 1: Her Bodyguard This is the first book I've read by Lexy Timms. I'm reading/listening to the book in the box set. The narration isn't that great so I bumped it up the 2x speed.
Also, I can't stand Diana. She's a spoiled, manipulative brat. I haven't found anything redeeming about her yet, including when she showed her soft underbelly to Ethan.
Book 2: Her Defender I got to chapter 17 where the main characters had yet another misunderstanding due to not communicating and I couldn't do it. The characters are juvenile and immature. The author stresses how intelligent they are but I just found them TDTL.
I have my theory on where the threats are coming from but don't care enough to continue and find out if I'm right.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobooks Unleashed. This is my honest and voluntary review....more

The Premise Jessica James wakes up naked behind a dumpster. Then finds another naked girl m, this one dead, behind the sane dumpster to find her belongings. Was she (Jessica) taped? She doesn’t know, doesn’t remember but doesn’t want to go to the ER or police because she’s embarrassed and thinks her peers will think she’s a dumb hick.
Meanwhile her platonic best friend who’s secretly in love with her is breaking into a medical research lab and almost getting caught. Cue weird girl who sneaks into said lab to love on a dog, a racist rent-a-cop and having no sense of foresight.
How Far I got: 29%
Strengths It started off well, hooking you in.
Why I Stopped Reading: I got bored, didn’t like the characters, and the story was repetitive without moving forward.
What other reviewers are saying Reviews are mixed at best with some people saying it was great and others with the same issues as me.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review. I’m giving it 2 stars since I got over a quarter of the way through before DNFung it. Also it started off strong but devolved from there. ...more

The basic premise is that three (male) friends own a consulting business and go into women's lives and help strengthen them in whatever area they need help in. They're there to help these women meet their needs. Is it business? Mansplaining? A little of both? IDK - hence on the fence. What I enjoyed: I liked that it was a male POV exclusively (except for the very end which leads into the next novella). It was sexy and funny, especially the banter between Parker and Bo. The main characters were well-developed each with their unique personalities, strengths and weaknesses thus creating a believable world. What was so-so: The mansplaining mentioned above. The characters seemed to be bros which caused quite a few eyerolls throughout. What I didn't care for: I'm not sure how to classify this series. Is it romance? Dick Lit? A day in the life? This is more my issue than the book's. ...more

It's very rare that I can't (won't) finish a book but this one was just slow and meandering. I was over 15% through (almost 20%) when I decided to stop. It hadn't gone anywhere by this point. The only thing that kept me trying was the humor which was laugh out loud at times. The language, situations, and characters were what made it, I just got bored with the story....more
