So when I came across this I immediately requested it. It was pretty cool. I really liked Lila and sympathize with her struggle when she was thrust in the seventeenth century. What I didn't understand how she could be so blasé about it all! But otherwise I really enjoyed her. We also share similar beliefs when it comes to holistic medicine. Similar because unlike her I am aware that modern medicine is based on the centuries of collected knowledge about herbs and their medicinal properties.
The male lead - Angus - is one of those men that make me wish just for a second (before I remember that I like to have independence and to not be some man's property) to have been born in those times. He is strong, skilled and compassionate. The kind of man that sweeps you off your feet and would tempt a modern woman to remain in the 17th century.
However what I loved most about this book was Angus' family. Especially his mother. I'd love to know more about her and her origins. A book about Alana and Alex's courtship would be an automatic buy from me!
I received a review copy from NetGalley. This in no way affects my rating or opinion.

The start was a bit jarring but after a couple of chapters I got really invested in Charley and her sisters' story. The start was a bit jarring but after a couple of chapters I got really invested in Charley and her sisters' story....more
