I’ve always been hesitant to read it because the harem is just so big but honestly every guy felt fleshed out. They each had their own story and personality. Though I will say I feel that Elijah and Gabriel could have been one person, even after six books I still confused them. Also making the characters Kalen and Mikki into one. There were rarely any scenes without both characters being present so it made it hard to distinguish between the two.
I think I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a long series kind of gal. The first two books were great, like I felt that this would be my new favorite series. But after the third book I kind of got tired, even during the last book I was skimming. The constant sex annoyed me. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m a smut girl through and through but constant smut just gets repetitive and boring. However the kinks added a nice touch.
My last complaint would be with the ending of the last book. Everything, and I mean everything, goes right. It just felt rushed and unsatisfying. I would’ve liked it more if there had been more, for lack of better word, foreplay. All of a sudden the world wants justice for gifted, with absolutely no backlash? Yeah sorry that’s not how it works. I feel it would’ve been more realistic if there had been more of a rebellion that built over the course of the 6 books. I know there were shootings and small things but the author didn’t spend much time on the events more of the trauma that occurred because of them. The humans have been in control for years and now are free to let it go. People in power don’t want to share it let alone lose it. We did have mention of illegal paintings being sold, which was great, but I would’ve liked more of that. I wanted to see everyday people doing small things to rebel.
Sorry for all the complaints, what can I say? I’m a complainer. But I actually really enjoyed this series and definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantasy!...more
