I really started to fall for this book around chapter 20. I enjoyed reading about the complex relationships, the search for the hidden fortune, and all the twists and turns of this story. I also loved the setting of the castle and the vineyard, how alive it felt.
I really appreciated all the symbolism of the vineyard and how it reflects life and relationship with God, especially with the pruning. I definitely connected with Tressa and her struggle to understand why God was taking things away from her and how that was shaping her into someone who more fully trusted in Him.
And what a hero Donegan Vance was. His character feels understated, yet the impact of his actions is all the more powerful when all is revealed.
A wonderful sophomore novel! I look forward to Joanna Davidson Politano's next novel....more

I absolutely loved Corbin and Willow and their interactions with one another. They have a lot of history with one another, so their relationship is full of conflict and takes a lot of time to develop trust. Themes of forgiveness and reconciliation are seamlessly woven into the story. This is an emotional book, and I highly recommend it. I loved it!...more

Joanne Bischof has written a beautiful masterpiece in Sons of Blackbird Mountain. I am blown away by this story filled with love, conflict, and hope. Joanne weaves a story rich in detail and slowly reveals her characters.
This is a stunning tale about brotherhood, the complexity of familial relationships, and the desire to belong and be loved. The joy and grief these characters experience during the length of the novel were so poignant and lovely and heartbreaking.
I found all the characters to be dear to my heart. Jorgan, Haakon, Thor, and Aven were all such complicated characters. Their struggles and decisions are so beautifully written, shedding light on humanity and how pain and brokenness color our choices.
There are so many little moments that were so meaningful and lovely and insightful that I just adored while reading. My heart is full. I can’t say enough good things about this book.
I am eager to read the second installment in this series. All I know is it follows these same characters and jumps ahead a few years. I am already anticipating the next part of this story.

2018 review:
If I’m being honest, I didn’t enjoy the first book in this series, but I love this author. So, I am pleasantly surprised to realize this is one of my favorite reads of the year! I loved the math aspect of this novel, focusing on Lukas’ sister, Margo, and her incredible mind. I also loved the music aspect and Lukas and Willa’s relationship. Danger further complicated the plot at every turn, and I was absolutely hooked....more
I was intrigued by the beginning of this novel and was soon swept away by the loveliness of the ethereal setting I found within its pages.

Three women. Three different time periods. Each of them equally captivating.
Kristy has taken her writing to a whole new level with this novel. I was blown away by the characters and the beautiful cadence of their stories. This book warmed my heart with contentment each time I opened its pages to discover a little more of the story it holds within. I was especially touched by a scarf, a brooch, a portrait, and one larger-than-life fairy-tale castle and the significance they each play in the book and in the character’s lives.
And now, I sit happily and eagerly as I wait for the next book in this series.

A book from Katherine Reay is a rare delight. I loved this story about the compMy 2018 review:
SO. GOOD.
Really loved this new book from Katherine Reay.
A book from Katherine Reay is a rare delight. I loved this story about the complexities of friendship, the power a nickname can hold, and becoming your true self. The way music is woven into the story is also something I was mesmerized by- how music is connected to memories and the piano is more than just a piano to Mary. To name a few other lovely tidbits that I loved, I must mention the significance of dancing in the quiet stillness, techy devices, rediscovering creativity, cupcakes, fishing, and Nathan. My first read of 2018, and I couldn't love it more....more
