There’s a part in the story where I can predict some readers getting upset because the MMC gets shmucked off by a girl at a club. But like Ross said to Rachel, they were on a break. And even more so, technically, the two were not even truly together in the first place and went their separate ways. That’s my thought process, and I’m not bothered by details like this. However, some may. I liked this story a lot....more

Her novellas, including her upcoming release, “Seized by the Mafia King,” seem to resolve mine. At about 142 pages, Evie hit several of my favorite tropes. One is that the MMC, Zane, falls first.
Readers can expect everything to happen quickly. It is, after all, 142 pages. Zane falls for Willow when he eliminates her soon-to-be husband at the altar. It’s an exciting scene, with great banter, action, and heated tension between the two characters.
Despite Zane being the Kingpin, he is a softie inside just for Willow, and I loved that. “Seized by the Mafia King” was a great short read....more

The elusive accidental/secret pregnancy trope doesn’t happen at the end of the story or in the epilogue. It occurs not only at the front end of the story but also at the central theme of the story. Yes, the pregnancy IS the story. And since this is a Lilah Raine book, it is about Mafia with the br33ding and shmilky shmink in it, too. What’s not to love?
Nic is Lorna’s best friend’s older brother. They’ve known each other, and he’s always viewed her as the irritating “kid.” Fast forward, stuff happens; they hook up. Oops, unexpected pregnancy! Nic gets protective and obsessed fast. It is utterly amazing. I loved how he wanted to learn everything he could about pregnancy and the baby—100% swoon-worthy. Lilah even includes some familiar characters from the previous Mafia book, which I loved. The spice scenes are fantastic. And the drama was exciting to the end. I liked this one a lot!...more

Luke is a unique character with some interesting quirks. Author Kate Raven does describe “Sucha A Good Guy” as a dark romance. For experienced dark romance readers, this story is more along the lines of containing themes that some may consider dark, or we can say Luke is a quirky guy who likes to go all in with his love for Luna, no matter what it takes. And I was okay with that. It was a good read....more

In the case of Cora Kent’s “Wicked Desires,” not only did I not read Book 1, but I also neglected to read the prequel. However, I enjoyed doing so more. It may have bumped my rating up reading the prequel last. Do I recommend this? Probably not.
Those who follow directions and read the prequel will have the perfect lead-up to Saverio and Lucia’s story. The forbidden vibe is established, and that big age gap is there. Saverio’s reason for payback is explained and carried out. There are many action, exciting dialogue, and detailed steamy scenes.
Cora Kent incorporates so many favorites into the scenes in “Wicked Desires.” I enjoyed both characters and the universe Cora created. I think I’ll jump to Book 1 now!...more

ReadI haven’t read many cowboy romances, but I knew this one would be good with Author Lilah Raine’s name behind it. She checks all the boxes for me. Readers can expect “Caught by a Cowboy” to be fast-paced. Know that Jace is an all-in guy who goes full-on strong with that. Those familiar with the author's books know what I’m referring to: those who don’t and haven’t read her before need to read the TW/CWs.
TW/CWs aside, I zipped through “Caught by a Cowboy.” The pregnancy trope is at the front end and incorporated into the plot, which I liked. The steamy scenes were excellent, and there was enough of them. It didn’t take over the whole story. Jace has issues with his family, and Maddison has problems with hers; both are woven into the plot. “Caught by a Cowboy” was the perfect way to end my month of reads—it was great!...more

I liked it. Adonis is a “bad guy” and follows this girl he’s drawn to into a bank. But the bank gets robbed, and his girl is a$$aulted. He’s not having any of that, but while protecting her, he’s shot. Talk about being in the wrong place, or maybe not, because Adonis is still a bad guy. And he still has his sights on this girl that he must have.
“Obey” is a captivity book with one shmutty scene after another. Adonis has a filthy mouth. There’s a lot of “good girls,” “d@ddy” talk, shmilky shmilk talk, and br33ding. It’s 137 pages and part of the series. I’m going to read the others, too, because why not?...more

Beck’s Oakmount Elite Series is an exciting one. Sebastion and Elyse’s duet comes to an end in Book 4. Readers will get more of the world that Elyse was gruesomely thrown into; at the same time, Seb attempts to save her while battling his demons.
I liked how we get a different side of Seb in Book 4 and the growing involvement of Drew, Lee, and Ares in working together. However, I often forgot that this was a college romance. The flow to jumping back onto campus seemed awkward at times. But it’s fiction, after all. I could understand that Seb and Elyse were trying to create some normalcy.
I enjoyed the conclusion of the duet, knowing this would not be the last time I read of the two characters. I look forward to Lee’s story next and am curious how the others will play a role in his life....more

It’s just a way of checking the box to grab readers' attention, but it's not utilized well. Mae Celeste’s “His to Slash” doesn’t do that. Though about 177 pages, readers will go on a wildly dark, fully packed ride. And yes, the TW/CWs are incorporated well into the plot.
“His to Slash” felt like it was pulled from some of my favorite h0rror films. It has that vibe. It’s chilling. It’s dark. And I loved the paranormal elements thrown in. Grayson and Carly are unique. But so is “His to Slash.” It's original to its core and the perfect read for the season. I enjoyed it.

“Letters from Hell” was more emotional than I anticipated, and I really liked it a lot. Micah is the convict on death row due to the people he brutally unalived, but as we follow his story, we delve deeper into who he truly is and why he did what he did.

The story is not a fluffy romance with a touch of darkness. I don’t have any triggers and prefer to go into most stories blind. Do I suggest that for everyone? No.
“In Love With The Devil” is very dark. Julian’s behavior is questionable—of course, all fictional. The story shows the physical and psychological aspects of ownership and control Julian has over Astoria, which evolves into Astoria's acceptance. How dependent she is on him.
Sky Blu explores dark themes in detail in almost every scene, leaving me feeling raw. The characteristics of Julian and Astoria throughout the story also bring up all sorts of feelings and questions on my end that I believe are intentional. I am happy with the way it ended. ...more
