tracy wolff heard that we liked twilight and decided to give us twilight (à la private school) where it’s not just the vampires that are filthy rich, it’s everyone! OH WAIT, but not our MC though, she's a poor orphan with curly hair, who's like suuuuuppppeeerrr short (she's 5'4"), and can’t do makeup for shit. just your average girl really <3
as for our love interest, he's such a baddie that he has everyone just falling at his feet left and right. literally! he walks into a room and they all just drop dead. BUT in reality he's just a sensitive soul who can’t get within 10 feet of the love of his life without causing earthquakes that almost kill said love of his life time and again. he also smells like orange juice btw… sexy ...more

the two leads were great, they were well rounded and had good chemistry, it was also a bit spicier than i thought it would be which was a really fun surprise, and i absolutely adored the other ladies of the wisteria society. her aunt was hilarious and delusional, so basically perfect, and hearing the stories some of the other ladies had also made this book a very entertaining read :)
some elements took me a while to get used to like some of historical factoids Holton added in and the whole magic thing with flying houses substituting the actual pirate ships, but overall i felt like it added to the wonderful wackiness of the entire story!!...more

to be honest i was so excited to read this book that when i finally got a chance to do so, it felt more like a slap in the face than a reward. there’s only one word that can describe my reaction throughout the entire book and that is ✨disappointment✨. the premise was so interesting, but why was the plot what it was??
centuries-old vampire needs help to adjust to the new age after beauty sleeping for 100 years and the only way he can get said help is by rooming with a human whom he tries to avoid as much as possible - disappointing (odd?)
cringe arranged marriage plot resulting in a kidnapping and lot of subsequent lamenting - very disappointing and kinda hilarious bc everything that happened was so unnecessary and comical that maybe this was meant to be a lesson on the perils of miscommunication idk ...more

I don't really know what I was expecting going into this book, but it definitely delivered. It was pretty similar to the first one in terms of story structure but had a bit more adventure/fantasy elements to it which I adored since that was something I missed in the first book.
I was also a bit surprised that this put me in my feels as much as it did. The first one made me cry so I kind of expected a feel-good, happy, she's in a beach town reading to pass the time vibe but lol I realized I was being a bit delusional with that line of thinking when I saw literal tear stains decorating the pages of the book.
BUT as much as it broke my heart to see her leave her new life and her new friends behind it was what she needed to do in order to become the Viv from Legends and Lattes which we all know and love ...more

i actually can't believe how much i liked this book! it makes you feel so warm and fuzzy inside while simultaneously making you tear up at how well-crafted and dimensional all the characters and their relationships with Viv are.
