…you’ll love Jane and Edward.
Mr. Rochester is a whip-smart lawyer with a towering temper who can’t keep a legal assistant to save his life. Nor does he care. Until he meets his newest assistant—Jane Raine.
With ups, downs, and plenty of emotional baggage for the pair to work through along the way, I rooted for former foster child Jane to find her happy ending.
This book perfectly echoes the themes and characters of Jane Eyre in a contemporary setting. Highly recommended....more

Not Another Roman Holiday is a fast, fun-filled read by NYT bestseller Marilyn Brandt.
Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck is one of my favorite movies, and this story gives the classic plot and gives it a fresh twist. Humor, adventure, a handsome prince seeking to escape his daily responsibilities for one, magical day (not to mention, lots of delicious Italian food!) make this an entertaining tale of romance. ...more

Fat Dogs and Welsh Estates is a rousing and thoroughly entertaining memoir from author Beth Haslam, chronicling her childhood in Wales.
From her early years in a rambling, drafty old house with her parents, her sister Di, and an assortment of dogs, ponies, and farm animals, to a two-up, two-down cottage with her mother, even a stay at a stately home that turns out to be an actual castle, there’s never a dull moment.
Brimming with Welsh lore and history and amusing (and sometimes harrowing) accounts of horseback riding, racing, and helping her father navigate a yacht through a series of treacherous whirlpools, Beth is fearless and determined, whether escaping from quicksand on the moor or passing her A-levels.
There are translations of Welsh words and sayings as well as a yummy selection of traditional Welsh recipes. I look forward to reading more of this enchanting series!...more

TWICE A BROKEN BREATH is an expertly crafted and suspenseful story I could not put down.
Liam Tallamore’s wife Carly takes off with their daughter Rayelle, after cleaning out their joint bank accounts. A note from Carly informs him that she and her lover are taking Rayelle to an undisclosed location out of the country in 24 hours. They are not returning.
Liam is devastated. And angry. If he notifies the police, he’ll never see his beloved “Ray-Ray” again. His journey to track down his daughter is harrowing and unforgettable.
Having read All That Was Taken, as well as Ms. Brodey’s delightful romantic comedies, I already knew what a talented and multifaceted writer she is. TWICE A BROKEN BREATH is a thrilling read and will have you rooting for Liam every step of the way....more

I’ve read many romance novels over the years, some good, some forgettable… but New Dreams at Polkerran Point by Cass Grafton is one of the best contemporary romances I’ve read in ages.
Anna Redding has a good life in Yorkshire—plenty of friends and a job she likes—but memories of childhood summers spent in Cornwall still linger. It was a place she loved. A place she still loves.
When her Aunt Meg dies, leaving her cottage at Polkerran Point to Anna, she experiences a tumult of emotions. Grief, sadness, as well as overwhelming gratitude for the precious time she spent with Meg.
It’s also a chance for a new start. Can she find the courage to leave her present life in Harrogate behind and start anew in Polkerran?
She leaves her familiar world behind and settles in at the cottage, comforted by reminders of her beloved aunt. She soon meets Alex Tremayne, once her schoolgirl crush and now a handsome, successful businessman, and Oliver Seymour, a reclusive writer working on a novel at nearby Harbourwatch.
Anna is hired as Oliver’s typist and personal assistant. She settles into her new life, falling more in love with Polkerran every day, until she learns that her aunt wrote another, earlier will.
A new will means Meg might have left the cottage to someone else. Anna is beside herself with worry. Her old life is behind her; she’s begun to build a newer, better one in Polkerran. Yet there’s a very real possibility she could lose the cottage.
Lyrical, charming, and heartfelt, New Dreams at Polkerran Point has memorable characters, a beautiful setting, and subtle nods to both Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë. I enjoyed visiting the Cornish coast and rooted for Anna to find her well deserved happy ending....more

He and his dog Kono find peace, more or less, in the tranquil California coastal community of Teal Beach.
Sunny Harrison owns and operates the Sundial Inn, where John stays until his nearby cottage is move-in ready. The two feel an instant connection. But both harbor dark and painful pasts, each trying to outrun their former lives and the enemies still pursuing them.
The past catches up with John in an unexpected twist that forces him to not only face his demons, but to finally lay them to rest.
I raced through the pages of this thoroughly enjoyable story. Ms. Brodey’s characters are vivid and compelling, and I rooted for John and Sunny from page one. The tension and twists kept me riveted, and the emotional depth of the characters stayed with me even after I finished the book.
If you enjoy a compelling mystery/thriller with a cast of memorable characters, All That Was Taken is a book you don’t want to miss. ...more
