After the way the first book ended, I knew I had to continue this, and I enjoyed it just as much as book one, maybe even more during the Speaker parts, he was definitely my favourite.
People who liked the first book, but weren't a fan of Mickey being mostly confined inside, would probably like this one better, because we get to see more of the planet, as well as the creatures that inhabit it.
I love how much thought Ashton put into the creepers, the way they act and think and how different their customs are from ours, the language barrier with neither side properly understanding the other, it was really creative.
I wanted to know more about them after meeting them in book one, luckily I got my wish, I'm glad Antimatter Blues exists.
I'd love for this series to keep going, but I'm getting the feeling that it's over, because everything that was leftover from Mickey7 was wrapped up. Doesn't mean we won't be getting a spinoff in the future though, fingers crossed.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, pleaseeeee read at least the first book beforehand, it's a fun time!!...more
I was not expecting to be gigging so much while reading this and yet!! My very first book by this author, it seems I've chosen well.
At the beginning II was not expecting to be gigging so much while reading this and yet!! My very first book by this author, it seems I've chosen well.
At the beginning I was like, okay, standard holiday novella, but then the humour and the silliness came in and I just couldn't stop reading. It was SO GOOFY, quite ridiculous, but I loved it all the same.
The (questionable) romance was my favourite part because these two have a lot of chemistry, like A LOT. I was nearing the end when I started to get sad that there weren't many pages left, because I haven't had enough of them. I'd read a whole series about their shenanigans.
And the fact that Soren loves family gatherings was the icing on the cake, the way he acted around Sophie's family was just adorableeeee. You don't understand, I'M OBSESSED.
This was such a fun read, I'll have to read more of Beatrix Hollow's books. If they're as unhinged as this one, I'm definitely along for the ride....more

It's EXACTLY the type of silly romance book I love. The vibes matched Puck and Prejudice, which is another new release I fell in love with, so it's no wonder this one worked for me too.
I also loooove the time travel trope, which we didn't exactly get here, not in the classic sense anyway, since Griffin's been a statue for centuries, but he's still a person from the past who ended up in the modern world, so in my mind it's time travel adjacent.
Her Knight at the Museum was so funny, and straight up adorable. I loved the narration, the historical references, Griffin being a pure ray of sunshine and his absolute devotion to Emily...HE WAS SO DOWN BAD GUYS, I lived for his PoVs.
Emily was like "he'll probably meet more women and leave me", meanwhile Griffin was planning their whole future inside his head, as any proper romance book hero should.
There was a little conflict near the end that wasn't really needed, but it didn't ruin the book for me, so I guess it can stay.
I'm so excited for the movie now, I hope it'll be out soon!! And I hope Bryn Donovan keeps writing romance books just like this one, I require more. ...more

I've been anticipating this book and it did not disappoint. It was just as hilarious as the first, despite taking a darker turn in the last third. That honestly took me by surprise, but I like that the author didn't shy away from covering such topics, even if this was meant to be a cozy type of read.
I will never not be entertained by Vera's antics and her EXPERT level investigating skills. If anything ever happened to me (God forbid), I would want her on my case, she'd crack it in no time.
I'm just gonna say, if you want to laugh, pick up this series and enjoyyyy. Hopefully book three is on the horizon as we speak. ...more

This! Was! So! Funny!! It reminded me a bit of Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time series, because of the (view spoiler)[sentient (hide spoiler)] aliens, and the humour was similar as well.
I really loved the concept, the multiple Mickeys were a hoot, but, of course, 7 was the best one. I'm not sure either of them did their best not to be discovered though, like they lasted only a few days? Either way, experiencing their shenanigans was the highlight of my day.
The book is super easy to follow, so even if you don't normally read scifi, you won't have any trouble getting into it. And it's such a fast read too, I finished it in one go.
The ending was exactly what I was expecting, and it made me excited for the next book. Hopefully there's even more coming after that one (assuming Mickey can stay alive, that is).
I'm curious how the creepers are going to look in the movie, and generally how similar it'll be, I'm hopefully gonna watch it next week. I don't know if I'll have time to squeeze in book two beforehand though, but I'm so glad I managed to read this one.
P.S. Big thank you to Britt for tweeting about this book so much and making me want to read it <3...more

It was really interesting, and surprisingly funny. Both of the narrators did an amazing job, but the one that was doing the "narrator" or author's voice put so much effort into it, that it felt like Therese Oneill was telling me all this herself.
I enjoyed learning about all of these women, some familiar to me, some not, and in such a creative way too. I wish the book was longer so even more lesser known women could be covered. It was also very diverse which is always a plus.
Also, I had no idea this was the same author who wrote this and her other books, I'll absolutely be reading them now....more

It has everything I love, a cozy small town setting, hilarious characters, a mystery and VAMPIRES!!! Vampires make everything better, lemme tell you.
I highly recommend the audiobook because the narrator is brilliant and perfectly brought all the characters to life, giving them all a unique voice. It was such an amazing experience listening to this, and I'd do it again!!
The plot was giving Supernatural, with the whole "saving people, hunting things (strigoi), the family business", except the Evans women don't have to leave their backyard to do it!
I was surprised at which characters died, some were actually really important, but the author wasn't shy about doing away with them. It hurts a little, not gonna lie. So when you start this, be warned, no one is safe.
The ending was so good and made me so excited for the next book...which isn't coming for another year. Do you think I can wait that long??? Huh, do you???
While looking for the author's newsletter, I found out that THIS BOOK/SERIES IS GETTING TURNED INTO A TV SHOW AAAAAH!!!!!! Which is honestly just perfect because I can imagine it like a mix of True Blood & Supernatural, but still with its own twist.
I cannot wait for both the next instalment and the TV show, I know both will be bangers....more

Now THIS was a proper Halloween read. You got a witch casting a spell summoning a pumpkin-headed demon who's been obsessed with her for two years and is ready to finally take what's his, and some humour thrown in too.
Some of the things that got me, other than the fact that he tastes like pumpkin spice syrup, were the 4 balls (why 4? More cum!! That is a legit line I'm screaminggggg), the pumpkin lube and the bottling of Jack's...juices.

It was sooo addicting, which I'm already used to with this author, but I really couldn't stop listening, except to make some progress with another book for a bit, then I came back to finish this.
I figured I'd get to 50% today, but the book said "YOU MUST FINISH", so obviously I had to listen to it!! I loved it from the start, it was funny and relatable, Kiki was a great character and so were her friends.
Reading from the PoV of a girl gamer when you are one yourself made me sympathise with Kiki, because I too had my fair share of men acting like I don't belong in "their space". That issue was tackled really well in the book.
I could feel her anxiety and pain at not being able to tell her online-turned-IRL friend who she was, how it was eating her up inside....AHHHH. Poor Kiki.
The only thing I wish we got is more time with them as a couple when everything was revealed. Because they literally just got together and then BAM, the book is over. It felt a little anticlimactic, because their relationship was building from the start and we only get that...so maybe two epilogues instead of one would've been good?
Either way I had so much fun, and I will be going back and reading the first book.

I didn't know that I needed an old lady solving a murder in my life, but I really did. And so do you my friends!! This whole book is so creative, and even emotional at times, at least for me.
For example, there's a scene where Vera and the gang go to the murdered man's family to bring them food, check up on them, and so that Vera can investigate further. But it made me tear up, because when my dad died when I was a kid, nobody did that for us, not even other family members, let alone completely strangers.
So it was heartwarming to see that good people who care about others exist somewhere out there, even if it's just inside a book.
Anywayyyy, I need a Vera in my life, because my life will no longer be complete without one!!! I need that machine that makes fictional characters real to be invented ASAP!!!! I'll be going back to this book for sure, and I highly recommend the audio version. ...more

I had such a good time listeningHave you ever wanted to go to Roswell and get abducted by aliens? If your answer is yes then this is the book for you.
I had such a good time listening to this, it was hilarious and I loved all the characters, especially Indy. He's like a tumbleweed alien with tentacles and he keeps abducting people he comes across because he just wants to go somewhere but can't communicate where, so they're all forced to go on a road trip together.
At first I wasn't Francie's biggest fan, with the way she was immediately dismissive of people who believe in UFOs, but when Indy abducted her she got more likeable.
I also love her and Wade together, even though we only got some crumbs of their romance thrown in. But they were cute.
The only off thing about this is that the ending comes out of nowhere, in the middle of a conversation. The audiobook ended and I was like "huh???", but apparently that IS the end. So I'm hoping we'll get a sequel, because otherwise that's a really strange place to end it, it's not even an open ending, just...odd.
BUT YES IF YOU WANT CUTE AND FUNNY ALIENS READ THIS BOOK....more

The title of it made me laugh, I shared it to Twitter and a friend from there convinced me to read it and here we are.
I expected a joke book, because of the title. Like one of those Chuck Tingle books for example. BUT THIS WAS NOT THAT. NOT AT ALL.
Was it funny? Yes. Was it drama filled? Also yes. But aside from all that it has characters that you care about, characters who grow and learn from their mistakes.
And it's also surprisingly well written for what I was expecting. The authors know how to keep the flow of the story going, and the reader engaged.
I was rooting for Special throughout the book. She had a hard life and had to fight for her place in the world. And why wouldn't she get paid for her struggles?
And yes, she did technically steal Damon's sperm from a used condom, BUT IF HE HADN'T BEEN CHEATING ON HIS WIFE NONE OF THAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED!
There's a religious angle to it all, Damon is a Christian who can't help himself, until he really messes up big time, and realises its time to change for good. I personally never forgave him for cheating on the sweetest character ever, but I can appreciate his effort to do better.
I'll end this review with a nugget of wisdom, courtesy of Special:
Special felt that it was a pussy universe, and dick got in where it fit in....more

There's no villains and there's girl power all around. I really really love the friendship the girls formed and how they're all equally interesting.

I 100% was not expecting everything that happened here but I love it???
So the beginning was a little weird, because why in Heaven's name would you tell your own brother that you plan to "get your box stuffed"? And most of the first part reads like a parody of...well books that are like that. I don't think that was the intention here which only makes it funnier.
I kept laughing for most of the story and let me tell you, that's not easy to do. Some of the lines are pure gold. This is one of very few novellas that I will reread again and again.
A bit past the halfway mark we get a rapid change of pace, so many things are happening and it's getting really exciting.
I feel that sometimes when authors write novellas they don't know how to cram everything into it that they planned so the pacing can be weird or the book can feel empty, but here?
Everything is SO FAST, but it works. I have no idea how, I just know it suits me and I don't mind the scenes are changing in the blink of an eye.
If we ignore the steam (let's be real, that made me laugh the hardest), the rest of the story is really promising so far. I'm definitely going to check the series out when I have time (and probably read this again meanwhile to see if I missed any details)....more
