Not believing in the family magic, Genie wishes that her dog were human, and lo and hold it happens. Though Rory is initially happy to each chocolate, he misses being a dog. Genie and her best friend Miles embark on a mission to reverse the wish.
This was so fun and cute. I could not resist human Rory. What a sweetheart! There were a lot of humorous moments as Rory navigated the human world, but this was also about Genie and her personal journey. Once upon a time, Genie wore bright colors and aspired to be a fashion designer, but she suffered a terrible loss which derailed her dream. Fast forward 10 years, and she is wearing all black and spending most of her time with her dog. She loved Rory and was willing to face her past and allow herself to heal. I appreciated her personal journey and was really rooting for her and Miles to finally act on their feelings. Miles was a gem and so good with Genie. They shared a deep history, and he was simply her "person".
Overall, I enjoyed this charming tale that was touched with romance and magic.

This light and breezy tale centered around Sydney who headed to Florida to regroup after being written off her successful series. She was passing time with her grandmother and old friends while trying to land her next acting gig. There was a bit of a mystery woven into this story which reunited Sydney with her childhood crush. There was a little bit of everything in Just Beachy, and I liked the way Wax made all these elements work together. There was humor, shenanigans, intrigue, romance, friendship, and lots of colorful characters who I loved getting to know.

It was great to be back in the Rookie Rebels world and absolutely adored Georgia and Banks' story. First of all, Meader gave us another amazing hockey family with the Bankowskis. I loved their dynamic and the way they embraced Georgia, welcoming her with open arms. But it was Banks who really won my heart. My heart ached when I heard the things people from his past said about him because he was lovable and sweet and he just needed the right people in his life to really see him.
Some of those people were the Rebels who quickly pulled him into the fold, and Georgia. Georgia saw what a wonderful man Banks was, and he could see what a wonderful woman Georgia was. She was publicly noted as a vapid party girl, but wait until you learn about the charity work she does. I got emotional. It was really touching. That subplot may have got my tears flowing too, and it made me see Georgia in a different light.
I thought I would hate the age gap, but I didn't. And how about a double epilogue!!! You know I was excited. Another great Rebels book!

I picked this book for a reading challenge prompt and liked it a lot more than I expected. I adore stories that span so many years, and I got to spend so many with Zorrie as she fought to survive and eke out a life. She faced a huge loss at such a young age, but the thing that pulled me in was her spirit and resilience. I have to admit, I was going batty with the way they were handling radioactive materials, but being a Ghost Girl was part of her tale. I also liked all the connections she made along the way and found many part of this story quite moving. As someone who like neat and tidy endings, I wanted more there, but I overall enjoyed spending a lifetime with Zorrie.

The Convenience Store by the Sea is a look at the patrons of this seaside shop. Every person had their own struggle, but they also had a point of connection to the store which served as a comfort, a release, a solution. A lovely look at the importance of connection and community, as well as many other timeless themes. There were two stories that stood out because they were especially touching.
Cozy and quirky, I rather enjoyed my visit to the Convenience Store by the Sea.

Grab some popcorn and just sit back and enjoy all this delicious drama. I was enthralled by this family. There was so much tension and such an interesting and complex dynamic at play as they all tried to fulfill their father's last wishes in hopes of earning his billions.
I was always rooting for Alice, and I could not resist Jack - the fixer. They were both early favorites, but I was surprised by how some of the others grew on me. This week of forced family time pushed some long lingering issues to the forefront. It had them taking stock and reflecting on their lives. I was rather pleased with the direction everyone was heading at the end.
Overall, this was a book that I devoured. The drama, the mystery, the romance - I was here for all of it, and I loved every second of it.

She believes she needs to have her heart broken in order to channel that pain into a new bestseller. Aspen looks to enlist local heartbreaker Brick Babel to do what he does best, but this plan may backfire when the fake dating begins to feel real.
I had a great time in the OBX with Aspen, Brick, and all the other colorful characters that inhabited this world. I was furious with the rumor mill and the way they made Brick out to be a bad guy, but it just made his connection with Aspen that much sweeter. They were both kind of lonely and were able to find something real and meaningful with each other. But the beauty was the way this one connection led to so many other wonderful things in their lives. They became more open and allowed their circles to expand. I also really enjoyed Brick's professional comeback. And Dug, let's not forget Dug.
Overall, my trip to the OBX was a fun one, and I am eager to return.

I have long been a fan of Oz and was thrilled to get to learn more about the woman behind the man behind this amazing world. Maude Baum as a very interesting woman who was a woman out of place in her time. I feel like I always say this when I read about people who lived in times without all the modern convenience I am accustomed to, but these people had it way harder than me, and I admired their strength and resilience.
Maude fell in love with a dreamer who had a huge heart and an even bigger imagination. Their love story was very touching. It was beautiful that Frank told of their life through the many adventures in Oz, and I really enjoyed learning more about their lives.

It was a fun adventure and along the way, Gemma experienced so much growth as she branched out and made so many new connections. The result was very satisfying and sweet. I will admit, the ending was more than I expected and I delighted in it. Another solid book from Chao.
