I read this book at the crack and it kept me company. My review isn't objective nor of any use for anyone but me. I think the biggest injustice done to this book is that it's marketed as a science book, by all means, this is a MEMOIR. it's emotional and very personal, it's someone's journey as a scientist. I was so disappointed and confused in the beginning when I thought I was going to learn about dark matter but once I understood what this was going to be about I got in with the flow and I loved it....more
I heard so much controversy around this book, people either seem to love it or hate it so I was really excited to see what the fuss is about. Fast-forward to me reading it and I simply thought it was good. It's everything I expected a feminist memoir to be. It delivers on what it promises, her opinions were mainstream feminism at best. If i want to nitpick i could say that's it's centered on white feminism, but she's a white woman writing from her perspective and i respect her experience in life and choice not to talk about other experiences she might not be able to do justice. It's a good book if you're looking for a feminist memoir to read. I imagine if this was your introduction to feminism you'd be amazed by it but mostly, I'd say i can recommend better books....more
