It was about the "tobacco brides" from England. When people were sent to prison they would be sent on a ship to America where the women were sold for brides and the men were sold as indentured servants for their jail term. Many of the men and women died during their "seasoning". The book follows Constance and Drew O'Conner through the trials of their marriage. At first the marriage is just for protection for both of them. At some point they fall in love.

At first I just couldn't get into the story. However, about half way through it really got interesting. The story follows different characters in segments. The book is about a serial killer who is murdering everyone who is connected to Eve Renner and Our Lady of Virtues Asylum. He is terrorizing Eve along the way and stalking her.
HUGE plot twist at the end! I never saw it coming which was nice. The whole book left me wondering what was going to happen next. I can honestly say I never figured out who the real killer was until the author told me. Which was a nice switch since usually I have the books I read figured out within the first few pages.

There was no passion or emotion throughout the story. It took until tragedy happened for me to really feel anything for the characters.

I was not planning to ever read any of the Twilight books just because of the hype of the movies. And I am not usually a fan of Vampires and sci-fi types of books.
I found this one at a yard sale and figured what could it hurt to buy it for a quarter.
The story line was very good. And I actually enjoyed reading it....more

This book was about a severely disfunctional family. All of the family members have some sort of severe medical condition ranging from HIV, AIDS, Cancer to suicidal tendencies. The story follows the family meeting in Florida for their daughters first trip into space. (She is a one handed astronaut) The father is broke so the con artist son takes a job with a former employer to scam some money from an extremely rich man. The other son's pregnant girlfriend is planning to sell the baby to a couple that are planning to lock her in a dungeon (probably kill her) and then sell the baby for half a million dollars.
Although not very realistic the book was a fairly good read....more

I really like this series. Although the books are all about 500 pages they are quick reads and they keep you interested. This story was about Jenk and Lindsey and also Tracy and Izzy. I really like how Suzanne Brockmann centers each novel around a couple of characters and how their relationship develops.
The serial killer in this one was particularly gruesome but it did add to the story....more
Cross Fire definately was a fitting end to the Kyle Craig saga. I really like that this book had so much to the plot. Because Kyle has been in so manyCross Fire definately was a fitting end to the Kyle Craig saga. I really like that this book had so much to the plot. Because Kyle has been in so many of the Alex Cross stories you needed something to break up the story line and create something new.
This is the story of Alex Cross returning to life as normal with his fiance Bree and his family. As usual he can never seem to spend enough time with his family because of his job. And of course Kyle Craigs constant interruptions. Alex finally catches the shooter behind the sniper killings and thinks the case is over... When he and his family go on their honeymoon Kyle Craig who is pretending to be Max Seigel shows up as usual to end the families hapiness.
As we all know with James Patterson's books just because you think someone dies doesn't mean they are actually dead as the ending of this book reminds us...
Can't wait to see how some of James Patterson's different characters merge!
